ABSTRACT

The past researchers have managed to come out with the studies that are related to the
importance of using games in teaching language skills and grammar to the pupils. Thus, with
the relevant information and highlights from the previous studies, this research is carried out.
This action research focused on gathering information on the use of grammar games to
improve the use of irregular verb among Year 4 pupils. The research has been done in School
Y in Alor Setar Kedah among Year 4X pupils. The data has been collected to find that the use
of grammar games can improve the understanding of using correct irregular verbs among
pupils. The use of grammar games in the classroom gives teachers the opportunity in
introducing an authentic practice of the grammar concepts. This action research begins by
looking at why the pupils are always giving negative perception when it comes to complete
grammar tasks and to use them correctly. In particular, it will discuss how grammar games
can help the respondents to improve their perception to be better and help in using the correct
irregular verb. The researcher will also discuss how to implement the related grammar games
in teaching and learning activities.
