The following were written by two of our committee members both are impressive and heartfelt and I believe represent
the thoughts and feelings of the entire committee. The process of putting this reunion book together for you has been both
informative and rewarding, but its success is directly proportional to the life stories that were submitted by you our classmates.
We hope you continue to enjoy the journey and the book, well see you soon!

Welcome Back!
Here we are 50 years after graduation. How times have changed! At our last reunion just 25 years ago, in 1991, we were
middle aged women and men in the middle of careers, raising families, still feeling young (on most days anyway) and not
thinking too much about the future. Just a couple of years before, in 1989, the Berlin Wall came down and in 1991, the Gulf
War was winding down. The future looked good. Personal computers were becoming widespread in 1991 and the World
Wide Web went live that year. Email as we know it was still a couple year in the future. And Bill Clinton was soon to be
elected President. To find our classmates for that 25th reunion we used the land line telephone and snail mail.
And now, just 25 years later we are getting together again. Now we are senior citizens, either retired or winding down
our careers, doting on grandchildren and maybe caring for aging parents, and starting to see more gray in the mirror and
having a few more aches and pains. We are now enrolled, or about to be, in Medicare and Social Security. Weve lost some
more classmates. The mess in the Middle East that started with the Gulf War just wont end, but we are recovering from
the Great Recession. And next year another Clinton may be elected President. But the pace of technology development has
been astounding since our last reunion. Cell Phones, the Internet, and social media have changed our lives dramatically
and we may initially be reluctant to change instead of being early adopters. Almost all of us now have an email address and
use the Internet and quite a few us Facebook and other social media. At our next reunion, the car may drive us to the party!
But now it is time to get together again and have some fun, renew old friendships, talk about the good old days, and
whats happening now. Maybe join us for some golf before the reunion party at Dearborn Hills and come to the picnic
the following day. Thanks to all of you that have responded to our requests for information and for the great individual
biographical sketches that have made this reunion booklet special. And thanks for your help in our efforts to locate each of
our classmates. We still have a few that we have yet to contact so if you have some information that might help let us know.
So lets celebrate! We hope you have as much fun as the Committee had in planning the event. And when the party is over
and were all back home, lets start planning the next reunion!
Sincerely,
Your Reunion Committee
What a ride weve been on and were not done yet!!! A 50th Class Reunion is a milestone event. Its a time for reflecting on
accomplishments in our lives. Its a reason for capturing and highlighting them in a Memory Book. It is also a time to reflect
on those classmates who are no longer with us. What was it about them that we truly enjoyed and now miss?
Working on the Memory Book can be the most frustrating, as well as, the most rewarding assignment for a committee
member. Using computer search engines (aka Face Book) can provide new possibilities for finding photos of classmates,
those that have retired from the work environment or those who have moved to a new city or state. Finding their new
retirement living location can be hard to track down. We still have too many classmates with No Information available,
but it was not for lack of trying.
We would like to challenge you to go find some classmate info. The committee would like to keep the data files updated
as changes occur. Take some time to read through the Memory Book. Identify changes that need to be made and send them
to one of the committee member listed below. The committee is looking into either an annual or semi-annual update.
Your assistance will be most helpful!
Sincerely,
Reunion Committee

I spent the next two decades working as a newspaper reporter and editor in Las Vegas, where I met
my wife, Sue Volek, who worked for a competing newspaper. We began dating and were married in
1989.
In the early 1990s, Sue and I moved to San Diego where I went to work for a defense contractor
(SAIC) as an editor and media relations specialist. Shortly after 9/11, my company relocated me to
the Washington, DC area.
Sue and I lived in Alexandria, Virginia, for the next 10 years before retiring to Portland, Oregon, in
2011 with our four rescued Siamese cats.
Today, I spend much of my time reading, hiking and traveling when Im not helping Sue with her
hobby of growing orchids.

fter graduating from DHS, I attended Western Michigan University where I received a degree in
Secondary Education, French major and English minor. During the summer of my junior year at
Western, I went to France, took some classes and toured other countries. I learned that I love to travel.
In 1970, I landed a teaching position at Muskegon Mona Shores High School where I spent seven and
a half years. During that time, I married and had two daughters, Kristin and Kate. Still wanting to
teach, I taught high school completion classes and substitute taught. Once the girls were in school, I
continued with adult education classes. In 1988 I was hired to teach French and English at Montague
High School and remained there until my retirement in 2005. I spent 34 years in the classroom!
In August of 2005, I was in seminary studying for an MA in Pastoral Care and Counseling (Evanston,
IL) and had an interest in hospital chaplaincy. By 2007, I graduated from seminary and moved back
to Michigan where I entered a chaplain residency program at Bronson Hospital for a year. I was
fortunate to find a part time position as a chaplain in Kalamazoo at Borgess Hospital and worked
there for 8 years. I worked in the emergency department, critical care units, general surgical and
orthopedic floors. In addition, I was involved with patients on the mental health unit.
I was ordained a deacon in the United Methodist Church in 2014 and have affiliated with a United
Methodist church in Portage where I currently work. I assist the pastor with worship, teach, and
preach (occasionally). Social justice concerns have always important to me; church members and I
serve meals at a homeless facility, advocate/help victims of abuse in connection with the YWCA, and
offer a worship service for children/adults with autism. Currently our church, in connection with
the Kalamazoo Islamic Center, is helping to resettle a Syrian family in Portage. Recently, I attended a
training session so I can help refugees with English.
Travelling has always been a favorite pastime for me since that first trip to France in 1968. I have
been fortunate to have travelled to Ireland, England, South Africa (Zimbabwe, Botswana), and Israel,
Palestine and Jordan, and I am always looking for interesting places to visit!
My two grandchildren live in Las Vegas (soon to be Phoenix); I visit them whenever I can. Lauren is
12 and Patrick is 7; they are a wonderful part of my life. Im not sure if I will ever completely retire;
there is so much to do and I enjoy being busy and involved.

Family
I am married to Thomas DeMaagd. We met at
Western Michigan University, and have been married
for 47 years. We have 5 daughters Kristin, Corinne,
Colleen, Kathryn, and Carolyn. As of this writing, we
have 8 grandchildren Abby, Ryan, Alex, Tommy,
Maya, Finn, Danny, Keelan and expecting one more
granddaughter in early June.
Occupation
I am a retired teacher from Wyoming Public Schools in Wyoming, Michigan where I taught 34 years. I
taught Kindergarten and First grade, which is what I always wanted to do when I was a safety crossing
the kindergarteners at Howard School. My husband and I have also owned two small businesses, a
restaurant and an Ice Cream parlor. I really enjoyed serving and meeting so many interesting people.
We owned these businesses for 42 years.

Interests
I have worked two jobs, teaching and being an entrepreneur. I also took care of my 5 girls, while being
involved in their activities (swimming, cheerleading, softball, girl scouts, track & cross country, tennis,
band, etc.) that therefore became my interests. I am now enjoying more time since I have retired from
teaching and we sold our last business in 2015. I do enjoy traveling. We have had daughters live in 6
countries, so we have seen many places just visiting our girls and their families. I would like to see the
entire world if I had more time and money. I also like to read, spend time in Gaylord, Michigan at our
family cottage, and I am now just getting back to learning languages (German and French), cross stitch,
and playing the piano. I really also enjoy watching events that my grandkids are doing, but there is
never enough time to do it all!
20
Accomplishments
My greatest accomplishment is raising 5 lovely daughters who are independent, caring and accomplished
individuals. I have been blessed with a great husband who puts up with me, 5 daughters whose
company I enjoy, and 8 (going on 9) grandchildren who are fun to be around.
Reflection
I tried to remember my classes, teachers, and experiences at DHS. It was difficult to remember anything
academic, but I do have good memories of friends (Blazos), synchronized swimming, intramural sports
(G.A.A.), and working on the newspaper. I regret I did not get to know more of my classmates better.
I wish all my classmates healthy and happy years ahead. God bless!

Ann Arbor and got my B.S. in Economics. I joined the Peace
Corps in Peru after U of M and consulted on agricultural
coops (farms) in central Peru. When I returned to the US I went to Wichita KS to work in
the aircraft industry. I was an assembly foreman at Great Lakes Aircraft and an industrial
engineer at Cessna. Went back to U of M for my Masters in finance.
After my MBA, I got a job auditing for Gould. At age 32 I suffered a mental collapse
designated as manic depression. I had several part time or short lived jobs after that but I
never fully recovered. Ive been on disability for 25 years.

While demolishing the Salvaon Army building at Howard and 8th St. in Detroit I suered a casualty. A oor gave way and I
fell 30 feet and landed on my head. Aer being in a coma for 3 days I regained consciousness and found out I had a head
concussion, skull fracture, 2 broken ribs and a broken arm. Lile did I know but this was the beginning of the best part of
my life. A young lady entered into my life by the name of Maryann Taylor and 10 months later we were married on May
25th 1974. This year we are celebrang 42 years together.
August 11, 1977 we were blessed with our rst

been pure joy and she has refueled our lives with
the addion of 3 wonderful grandchildren 17,

With the new responsibility of having a child, a
new business opportunity arose and I had the
pleasure of moving my new family to Marquee,
MI to Manage my friends pizza business, Lake

own locaon in the Houghton/Hancock area.
Once I took charge of his locaon he went into a

and I needed more acon than an Ice Breaker

during rush hour, or opening up the Mining Journal Newspaper to see bowling scores on the front

Hello Classmates
I am looking forward to seeing each one of you at our 50 th Reunion.
I married young and had two beautiful children. I have been married to Tom Howard for 30 years. We
have 5 children between us and four grand children. We lived in Dearborn until 2002, never wanted to
leave, so many good memories. Now we live in Northville and Florida part time.
I worked at Ford Motor Co. for 15 years. It was a great place to work. We retired in 1999 to play golf and
enjoy our family and friends. My PASSION is genealogy, I have worked on many trees besides my own. I
love it!
I cannot wait to see our classmates and share old memories. Junior high was so much fun. The Bryant
dances, Mr. Fishers homeroom, Mr. Giardini in math, Miss Hydrick for gym. Turkey lunch for 40 cents. I
use to buy 4 ice cream sandwiches instead! Tommy Turkey dinner at Howard Johnsons for $1.29 with
Marcia and Kris K. Going to JoBells on Telegraph, Jasons Drugstore, neither one was I allowed to go to.
In high school my favorite teachers were Mr. Waring and Miss Truckenmiller. I enjoyed y-teens, I was
President of Epsilon. Pajama parties, Divine Child fair, dances at the Civic Center, pale sweaters and skirts.
Ratted hair. Fred B.s pepto bismal Ford. Sledding at Ford Field, Crowleys, Cunninghams, looping thru
McDonald!s and Blazos (got a ticket). Was in gym class when Kennedy was shot.
Loved park recreation, Seashore, ice skating at Levagood (smoking too).
See you in August!! XO Kerry

I began college at Henry Ford. I transferred to MIT as a sophomore and completed my degree
in electrical engineering. After graduation I joined the Peace Corps. I was pretty happy when
they sent me to Jamaica. Its a lovely island, but outside of the resorts its a fairly poor country, and the schools needed volunteers. I taught math for two years. It was a fun time to be
there because reggae was just taking off. Toots and Maytals had the number one song on the
charts at that time.
When I returned to Boston I got a job at Mass General Hospital in the medical engineering department. I worked on installing and supporting medical equipment. I had the opportunity to
observe one of the first CAT scanners. It was pretty cool to see some of the first brain images.
After four years at MGH I took a job with Hewlett Packard, designing ultrasound imaging systems. Ive worked in this lab ever since. Ive enjoyed seeing our ultrasound systems evolve
over the years from simple 2D monochrome imagers to 3D with color flow and more. Ten
years ago our division was purchased by Philips of Holland.
As far as my personal life: I have one daughter, Rosa. She and her partner are living with me. I
am single again and its nice having them around. Rosa works at Staples as a store manager.
Her forte is playing basketball. I miss those college games.
Outside of work, I am involved with the energy committee for our town. We are working to
make Waltham a green community.
For fun I play piano. I get together once a month with a few friends to play the jazz standards
e.g. Misty, Round Midnight. My other pastime for the last few years has been ballroom dancing. Dance clubs have become popular around here because of the TV show Dancing with the
Stars. Its interesting to see the wide age range of the people that show up, some older than
me!
My next step is to plan for retirement in a year.

After graduation from DHS, I got a job at Metropolitan Life Insurance. My husband (to be)
came in to fix my computer one day, and we hit it off! We got married and lived in an
apartment in Melvindale. Eventually, we built a new house in Woodhaven and have lived
there ever since!
On May 2, 2016, Alan and I celebrated our 46th wedding anniversary!
We have 2 daughtersAmy and Karenand 5 grandkids. Amy lives in Arizona, so we go out
there often. Karen lives in Carleton, Mi., so we see get to see her and grandkids a lot.
I still work part time as a secretary for AAA of Michigan in Trenton. My husband is retired.
I've been fortunate to keep in touch with some of my classmates, and I even babysat for
Carol Mikos son, Kevin, when she went back to work in the 80s.
Besides babysitting for my grandchildren, I also like to create special cards for birthdays,
holidays, etc. for family and friends.

Hi everyone!
Ill start by saying that I have had a truly blessed life, and I am grateful for so many things
that started in childhood.
Grateful to be the daughter of incredible parents who taught me how to love and
appreciate life.
Grateful to have lived in Dearborn, a city that provided so many wonderful activities
geared to families and kids.
Grateful for the fantastic education we received and the talented teachers who
inspired me to follow their example and appreciate every minute of my 37 year
teaching career.
Grateful for the friendships I had all through my school years and the memories that
will be with me always.
As I mentioned, I chose the perfect profession for me. Teaching middle school and high
school students helped keep the kid in me. After 37 years of teaching in Pinckney, I am
now thoroughly enjoying retirement--spending time in Pinckney, Florida, and traveling
throughout the U.S., Canada, Europe, and New Zealand. Most importantly, I enjoy spending
six months a year in Bay View, an historic Victorian community in Petoskey on Little
Traverse Bay. It is truly my favorite place on earth!
I try to not take anything for granted and treasure the wonderful people in my lifemy
special family and friends and my wonderful life partner, Tom, who has given me the
opportunity to be a surrogate mom to his 5 kids and Nana to our 4 adorable grandchildren.
Life is good!
I can't wait to see everyone and catch up on many life stories and renew old friendships.
39
I feel so blessed to have created a life that is true to myself. After graduation, I continued to teach dancing and
th
choreograph for various dance companies. I pursued my 6 Cecchetti exam in Classical Ballet dancing and teaching.
Along with that, I that I performed for the U.S.O which was a very gratifying experience !
Then Motherhood The birth of our two daughters added another dimension to my life. Watching them mature and
being a part of their lives has been such a beautiful gift. I felt grateful to raise them while being at home during the day
and to also be able pursue my passion of dance through teaching in the evenings. We moved to a small town called
Romeo MI and my journey changed to a whole new direction. My friend and I opened a gift and home furnishings
boutique, which was a passion that I always yearned to pursue. It was fulfilling for me to use my creativity to support a
very successful business for over 25 years.
I am currently working as a Designer for a local winery. I also work in the Interior Decorating field by staging homes for
re-sale. My husband and I recently purchased a Vintage camper and we are enjoying the experience of the great
outdoors. Another passion of mine that is tied to nature is gardening. I find pure joy working in my gardens and
enjoying the true beauty of my labor. A healthy lifestyle is important to me. I enjoy healthy cooking and I lead an
active lifestyle by working out. My two grandchildren keep me busy, up to date, and they bring so much energy and fun
into my life
In retrospect, I now know the friendships and experiences that Ive gained during my High school years had a strong influence on my adult life.
I am looking forward to seeing everyone at the Dearborn High School 50 Class Reunion!

I think my life has been in high gear from the moment I le3 high school no
excep8ons! While majoring in poli8cal science at MSU, I met my husband at
the end of my rst full year. I con8nued with college year-round, and
graduated in a liFle over 3 years. He also graduated at the same 8me, from
General Motors Ins8tutes 5-year program, and we were married that
summer. When we see you in August, we will have just passed our 47th
anniversary! Jim is s8ll my best pal and forever guy.
As many do, I went back to school a year later to get my RN, which had always been my passion for a
future work life, and s8ll is. Jim only thought he got a fully educated wife I liked OB so well in
nursing school, that by the end of the term, I was pregnant with our son, Clay now 43. He and I
graduated at my 6-month gesta8on point! Our second son, whom we lost
when he was 4 days old, came two years later, and our daughter, Beth, 3
years a3er Clay. We raised our family in Okemos, Mi, and never le3 MI un8l
2002, when we did in a motor home! I traveled North America for many
years from ice rink to ice rink for kids hockey yes, even Beths for a few
years! Of course, we did many other sports, too, but hockey was the one that
took up any spare 8me we had year round! Clay and Beth were, and are, our
pride and joy.
At the age of 44 I nally received a commission in the Army Reserve, serving
in a medical support unit in Grand Rapids for 8 years, then as IRR for 8 more.
I nished a Masters in Health Administra8on in 1994 and a PhD in the same
in 2004 when I was on Ac8ve Duty at Walter Reed. Becoming a Veteran at
the age of 56 was amazing! So was learning to do push-ups! In my 40s I
realized several goals I had long had being an Army Nurse, owning a horse
and a log home! We found NM soon a3er leaving MI and found it to be our
happy place and stayed! One short detour to East TN for a few years, then
back to NM. We are blessed with 4 goofy and wonderful grandkids 2 boys and 2 girls. Our lives are
well-blessed and full of joy. I s8ll work part of the year and golf all year round! Travel highlights were
to Australia and New Zealand and Alaska last year.
I would come back in my next life to be a nurse, too and if youd like a short, fun, read please feel
free to get my book on Amazon paperback or Kindle version I Want Chocolate Cake for Dinner! Let
Nursing Rock Your World! - and maybe you will help get a few more people interested in a nursing
career! That was my goal in publishing it recruitment. I think you will get some laughs, at any rate!
Looking forward to seeing you all!

graduated from the University of Michigan in 1968 and went to work for General Motors shortly after.
I met my husband there; in fact, he hired me. He was a young, aggressive, Ph.D., brought from GMs
Research Labs to the Corporate Marketing Staff to develop a Marketing Information System for GM. All
of it was new to me, but I had a thirst to learn and lots of energy. We were resource constrained so I had the
opportunity to tackle all sorts of assignments where I had no previous experience. The confidence Jim, as my
manager, showed in me served me well in the future, giving me the confidence to never fear a challenge. What
a gift he gave me! I worked at GM in various capacities until I got married.
We were recruited by the President of Chase Econometrics, an economic forecasting and consulting firm as
well as a subsidiary of Chase Manhattan Bank. We started a new consulting service, forecasting U.S. demand
for automobiles and trucks as well as related management consulting. In 1979, I moved to Manhattan as VP,
Strategic Planning in the Information Services Department where all of the information-oriented subsidiaries
of Chase were managed. Later, I was offered the opportunity as Vice President in the Trust business at Chase
Manhattan, also in New York.
In 1982, we moved to Chicago. First Chicago had a department which spanned many of the things I had done
at Chase. First Chicago owned several information-oriented subsidiaries as well. I was hired as a VP in
their New Ventures Department to assess the acquisition of new businesses to fill out their portfolio. I later
was offered the opportunity to manage some of their Institutional Trust businesses. My last position there was
Senior Vice President and Head of the Institutional Trust Department. I had broad based responsibility for 1,000
employees located in multiple U.S. cities and 4 countries. I left First ChicagoNBD/BancOne in October of 1998
to move full time to Sarasota, FL.
My professional activities post-First Chicago were limited to my role as Chairman and Lead Independent
Director of a small mutual funds firm. I was in this role for a little over 5 years.
I spent a few years in Florida offering my services as a Guardian ad Litem here in the Sarasota Country Court
system. Some might know this program as CASA or Court Appointed Special Advocate for children at risk in
the judicial system.
We have no children, and obviously therefore, no grandchildren.
My husband and I are very serious in our support for Hillsdale College, the Institute for Justice, the NRA and
other organizations primarily targeted at protecting our Constitutional liberties and educational freedoms. We
spend our winters in Sarasota, FL and our summers in the small town of Oostburg, on Lake Michigan in WI.

ithout the support of my family none of the following would have been possible, for 47 years Diane, Bret, and Brandon
have dealt with a husband and father that spent 10 or more hours a day in his classroom and most summers traveling
to conferences and committee meetings. Little has changed even during the last six years since I retired, but now I have my
granddaughter, Maddy, who tries to keep me near home. Success really does take a family.
Its difficult to believe its been 50 years, walking the halls at DHS on the 27th of January this year brought back many memories
of time spent with friends (sometimes wondering why we lost touch) and cruising Woodward, when it really was cruising.
I still enjoy listening to the music of the 60s and teaching 40 years of high school students to enjoy it made for interesting
days at school. For some reason, to this day Im still not sure why, I became a teacher. During that time I worked at three
different schools, Birmingham Seaholm HS - 1969-71, Oakland Technical Center Southeast Campus, 1972-2000 and Kimball/
Royal Oak HS, 2000-2010. During my career I enjoyed a great deal of recognition from a number of different teaching and
industry organizations. They include the Milken National Educator Award, considered the Oscars of education, it came
with a $25,000 check and a satellite interview from California back to Detroit. A few years later I was one of five finalists
for the Disney American Teacher Awards and had a Disney producer and video crew in my lab for 10 hours, of which six
minutes showed up on the Disney channel for six months, six of my 15 minutes of fame. Michigan Technical Teacher of the
Year. Whos Who Among American Teachers, Fred Kagy Life Achievement Award, Michigan SkillsUSA Life Member are a
few of the others. Ive spent the last six years traveling for the Graphic Arts Education and Research Foundation, working
with over 100 schools in 36 states on curriculum and national assessments. Ive recently been elected to my second term
as President of Graphic Communications Educators Association, an international graphic arts teachers association. My
first term as president was almost 25 years ago and I will finish this term very near my 70th birthday. I currently co-chair
the Graphic Communications Technical Committee for National SkillsUSA and chair the Michigan Technical committee.
I completed my BS at Ferris State University 69, MS Eastern Michigan University 72, finished two years of the Galileo
Leadership Academy a PhD program, Wayne State University 99-2001, I was asked to be cohort speaker at end of program.
What an amazing ride my life as been. Im looking forward to seeing where the rest of it may take me! Im not sure anyone
can really put into words what its like to spend your life working with teenagers, but at some point you realize that what
you are doing has a real impact on them. Someday maybe I will tell you the story of the 1200 Indian Head pennies, the front
page news story it became and editorial that followed. Sometimes its the small things we do that have the greatest impact.
A hundred years from now..... It will not matter what my bank account was, The sort of house I lived in,
Or the car I drove...But the world may be different Because I was important in the life of a child.

Life Overview:
Like others, my life can be summed up with Charles Dickens quote, it was the
best of times, it was the worst of times... My life is awsome: active, adventurous,
filled with great loves and great losses. And of course, we all know it is our
relationships that matter.
I have lived many places: Dearborn/Detroit, Michigan; Casablanca, Morocco;
San Francisco, California; New York City, New York; Santa Fe, New Mexico, the
Caribbean, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
I have been blessed with friends from all over the world from many cultures,
races and faiths. I know some of the poorest people in the world, and some of
the richest people in the world, and have even been personally blessed by the
Pope and the Dalai Lama. The wondrous thing about this wide range of people
in my life is how much we are the same.
Life is amazing.

Family Easter
I know many of our classmates went on to greatness in their field of study. My claim to fame was being a stayat-home mom. I kept myself busy doing volunteer work, at my childrens school; I was the brownie and girl
scout leader, a room mother for 10 years, went on every field trip, planned the class parties, worked in the school
office, helped in the classrooms, and organized all the fund raisers. I feel fortunate to have had that time with my
children and I enjoyed every minute of it.
Gary is a Vietnam Vet. He enjoys golf and is pretty good at it.
On August 6, 2012, on the 11th hole at Lakes of Taylor, Gary got
a hole-in-one. He
could probably tell
you exactly what
time of day it was,
the temperature,
and
the
wind
speed. It was a
big deal since his
best golfing buddy
was with him. Any
Son Gary Jr., daughter and Tammy
golfers out there
would understand
completely. Gary retired from Ford where he was a designer. That
was 10 years ago, already. Dont blink!!!
I am one of 8 women who started a pinochle club 32 years ago. We
were privileged to watch each others children grow up, get married,
and have their own babes. Our hubbys bonded too. Weve camped
together, celebrated all the milestone birthdays together, and built
long lasting friendships. Ron and Maryann Manduch are one of the
couples in our group. Hes my brother from another mother, (both
born January 12th). Back in the day we could party hardy, now we
just laugh a lot and hope we dont pee when we do it.

I play the piano. Im not great not even very good but its one of my
hobbies. Gary plays the guitar (he is good) and my sister, Barbara, plays the
bass guitar. We get together to jam on occasion. Im not sure that what we do
would be considered music, but we have fun trying. I also like to draw and
oil paint. I have done some pretty spectacular murals on my grandchildrens
bedroom walls. I also still enjoy doing volunteer work, only now it is at my
church.
Gary and I have a small candle business. Our company is Soy Scents Candles
and tarts. We are winding down now. This year we will be in just 4 art
and craft shows. Two of them are in November. Stop by and check out our
candles and tarts; November 12th at Lindbergh Elementary, and November
19th at Plymouth Canton High.
The best part of our lives is being close to our 6 adult children (including
spouses) and 6 grandchildren. For some reason they all really like us. We
Daughter Jodie and family
play table games, yard games, and run the RC cars, boats, planes and drones
with them. We recently bought a Polaris RZR to do some off-roading. Even
our grand children have four-wheelers.
Im so glad we grew up in the 60s. Our grandchildren think we lived in the olden days, but it was such a great
time to be young. God bless us all.

fter graduating I went to HFCC. Didn't care much for it and joined the Army in November 1967.
After 3 years in the Army, I got a job at Ford Motor Company, where I would spend the next 36
years of my life. I got married in 1972 and have 3 children and now 2 grandchildren. Marriage only
lasted for 17 years. After retiring from Ford's, I started getting involved with Veteran's groups. I am
a past commander of AMVETS Post 4, past commander of VFW Post 134, current commander of DAV
Ch. 51 and of American Legion Ford Motor Post 173. I am also a past commander of the Dearborn
Allied War Veterans Council, where I planned for the Dearborn Memorial Day Parade. Since 2009,
I've been involved with homeless veteran's. From 2012 to 2014, I was the Chairman of the Homeless
Veteran's Task Force for The American Legion, Department of Michigan. I worked all over the state of
Michigan in trying to get our homeless veterans off the street. In 2013, I was very fortunate to receive an
award for my work on the state level and also on the national level. In October of 2015, I got remarried
to my wife Denise.

We continue to ride our bicycles; I enjoy the birds and gardening, volunteer in a food pantry,
with Habitat for Humanity and at Michael Moores State Theater in Traverse City. I am also
active in my church. Most mornings we go to
the gym and enjoy a pretty busy social life.
Traverse City has some fantastic restaurants!
My life has been grand so far. I plan to keep
on enjoying every minute, so come on up for
a visit. The bunkhouse can probably hold
your whole family! Just call first!!
