Understanding, measuring, and improving the quality of network services is vital for mobile operators that want to keep their customers satisfied and subscribed. However, the good service that
subscribers demand is getting harder to deliver as networks, devices, and applications converge and
new services appear.
Due to the high demanding in mobile data applications, new technologies are proposed to the
market to fulfil various applications requirements.
In mobile data network, the quality of the service
is measured by the amount of data transferred bidirectional.
Data Download Transfer Rate is the amount of
data transferred from the network to the client. In
mobile data networks, the download transfer rate
depends on the mobile network technology. GSM
or 2G has average data speed of (~144 Kbps).
UMTS or 3G average data speed of (~2+Mbps).

In order to deliver a clear QoS comparison among mobile operators in Bahrain providing mobile
data services, several benchmark probes had been deployed across the major cities in the kingdom.
The benchmark probes simulates mobile data user experience through fixed testing scenario including
internet browsing, download, and upload. The same testing scenario is repeated for each mobile operator. The probes measures KPIs extracted from these testing scenarios and report them back to TRA
backend servers to be processed and analysed.

The response time is measured for each activity of Load news feed, change persoanl status, and
uplaoding a photo of size 800x600 pixels.

available on the internet and mobiles hansets such as gmail, outlooklive, yahoo....etc,
they are all implmeneted using standard
protocols for sending/ receiving emails and attachements.
In email testing scenario, the methodolgy has been implemeneted to use the gmail server for sending email on
POP3 protocol to a receipient using SMTP.
