BasciallyIamaMechanicalEngineer,therewasaDiscussionhappeningwithinourdesignteamAboutselectionofWhichtypeoftubing
canbeusedforLevelTransmitters.SomeonetellsthattheimpulsetubingisbetterthanaCapillarytubing.AndIcannotunderstandthe
difference..?

Iwouldassume"Impulsetubing"tobecommericaltubing,ratedforthepressureinvolved.
IntheUSA,tubingisclassifiedbyitsOD,pipebyitsID.Tubingisneverthreadedflareorcompressionfittingsareusedforconnectionsto
theinstrument.
Capillarytubingisverysmalldiametertubingwhichisalwaysusedforfilledsystems,likefortheconnectionbetweentheinstrumentanda
remotediaphragmseal.Onrareoccasions,capillarytubingisusedasamechanicaldampertodampenpressureoscillations.Capillary
tubingwillslightlydelay,butnotdiminishpressurespikes.
My1960'seraIndustrialInstrumentsandControlPipingbook,aninstructionguidetoteachapprenticeshowtoinstallpiping,showsall
connectionsinpipe,notubing.

differentials.
