Do you want to know the truth that will totally

change your life?

1) GOD IS LOVE AND GOD IS JUST.

God is Love

“ … God is love.” (1 John 4:8b)

God is just

“Maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness,

rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he
punishes the children and their children for the sin of the fathers to the
third and fourth generation.” (Exodus 34:7, NIV)

“I, the Lord, will punish the world for its evil and the wicked for their
sin. I will crush the arrogance of the proud and humble the pride of the
mighty.” (Isaiah 13:11, NLT)
If God is love and just, what is the character and
condition of man?

2) MAN IS SINFUL AND CANNOT SAVE HIMSELF.

Man is sinful

“As it is written: There is no one righteous, not even one; there is

no one who understands, no one who seeks God. All have turned away;
they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good,
not even one.” (Romans 3:10-12, NLT)

“For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious

standard.” (Romans 3:23, NLT)
Man cannot save himself

“For the wages of sin is death. But the free gift of eternal life
through Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23, NLT)

How did God show that He is love

and just?

3) JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY TO HEAVEN.

“Jesus told him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can
come to the Father except through me. (John 14:6, NLT)

Who Jesus is

God who became fully human

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and
the Word was God…The Word became flesh and made his dwelling
among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who
came from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:1, 14 NIV)

He became fully human but did not sin

For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our
sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ. (2
Corinthians 5:21)

He is the demonstration of God’s love

“But God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die
for us while we were still sinners.” (Romans 5:8, NLT)

He is the only Savior

“There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name
under heaven by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12, NLT)

What Jesus did

Jesus died for our sins and He rose from the dead

I passed on to you what was most important and what had also
been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures
said. He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day,
just as the Scriptures said. (1 Corinthians 15:3, 4, NLT)

What then should be our response to the

truth?

4) TO REPENT AND BELIEVE THAT JESUS IS SAVIOUR AND LORD.

Repentance – “repent” means to turn away

“Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may
be wiped away.” (Acts 3:19, NLT)
“No, and I tell you again that unless you repent, you will perish, too.”
(Luke 13:5, NLT)

Believe

“This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one
and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by
believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life.” (John 3:16,
MSG)

“But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right
to become children of God.” (John 1:12, NLT)

“God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t
take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for
the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.”
(Ephesians 2:8-9, NLT)

“He saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done,
but because of His mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new
birth and new life through the Holy Spirit.” (Titus 3:5, NLT)

A Prayer of Commitment

If you truly believe these truths, of what Christ has done for your
life. The Bible says in:

Romans 10:13 "Everyone who calls on the name of the

Lord will be saved."
We call on the name of the Lord through prayer.

God knows your heart and is not so concerned with your words
as He is with the attitude of your heart.
What are you committing yourself to?

1. You believe that our Lord Jesus, came down to earth as a

man, lived a perfect life died for my sins on the cross, rose
from the dead on the third day and is now sitting at the right
hand of the Father.

2. You believe that it is only Jesus, and Jesus alone, that can
save you from your sins.

3. You believe in Jesus as your Savior and Lord.

4. Believing in Jesus as Lord means following all His commands.

Justification by faith

“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have

peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have
gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we
rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.” (Romans 5:1-2, NIV)

Faith without good deed is dead

“What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have
faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save
anyone...So you see; we are shown to be right with God by what we do,
not by faith alone.” (James 2:14, 24, NLT)

Assurance

“I tell you the truth, anyone who believes has eternal life.” (John
6:47, NLT)

How can you know that you believe?

A Simple Test that you know Him

“And we can be sure that we know him if we obey his
commandments. If someone claims, “I know God”, but doesn’t obey
God’s commandments, that person is a liar and is not living in the
truth. But those who obey God’s word truly show how completely they
love him. That is how we know we are living in Him. Those who say
they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did. (1 John 2:3-6, NLT)

Restoration

“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a

new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” (2 Corinthians
5:17, NLT)

“My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who
live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in
the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (Galatians
2:20, NLT)

“And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life,
and this life is in His Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does
not have God’s Son does not have life.” (1 John 5:11-12, NLT)

Baptism

(The immediate response for believers is to be baptized)

Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the

name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will
receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:38, NIV)

(Jesus Himself was baptized to serve as an example for

us)

Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by

John. But John tried to deter him, saying, "I need to be baptized by you,
and do you come to me?" (Matthew 3:13-15, NIV)
Baptism doesn’t make you a believer – it shows that you already
believe. It is an act of true repentance.

Truth is reliable, feelings are not. Thus, do not depend on

feelings.

The promise of God’s word, the Bible – not our feelings – is our
authority. The Christian lives by faith (trust) in the trustworthiness of
God himself and His Word. This train diagram illustrates the
relationship between fact (God and His Word), faith (our trust in God
and His Word), and the feeling (the result of our faith and obedience)
(John 14:21).

The train will run with or without the trailer. However, it would be
useless to attempt to pull the train by the trailer. In the same way, we
Christians do not depend on feelings or emotions, but place our faith
(trust) in the trustworthiness of God and the promises of His Word.

Our response should not be based on feelings but should be in

response to the truth.

Now that you have received Christ

The moment you received Christ by faith, as an act of the will, many
things happened, including the following:

1. Christ lives in you now. (Colossians 1:27).

2. Your sins were forgiven (Colossians 1:14; 2:13).

3. You become a child of God (John 1:12).

4. You received eternal life (John 5:24).

5. You began the great adventure for which God created you (John
10:10; II Corinthians 5:17; I Thessalonians 5:18).

Is there anything more wonderful that could happen to you than

receiving Christ? Would you like to thank God in prayer right now for
what He has done for you? By thanking God, you demonstrate your
faith.

Suggestions for Christian growth

Spiritual growth result from trusting Jesus Christ. “The righteous
man shall live by faith” (Galatians 3:11). A life of faith will enable you
to trust God increasingly with every detail of your life and to practice
the following:

G Go to God in prayer daily (John 15:7)

R Read God’s Word daily (Acts 17:11) – begin with the gospel of
John.

O Obey God moment by moment (John 14:21).

W Witness for Christ by your life and words (Matthew 4:19; John
15:8).

T Trust God for every detail in your life (I Peter 5:7).

H Holy Spirit – allow Him to control and empower your daily life and
witness (Galatians 5:16,17; Acts 1:8).

Fellowship in a Good Church

God’s Word admonishes us not to forsake the “assembling of

ourselves together…” (Hebrews 10:25). Several logs burn brightly
together; but separate one and its fire goes out. So it is with your
relationship to other Christians. If you do not belong to a church, do
not wait to be invited. Take the initiative; call or visit nearby church
where Christ is honored and His Word is preached. Start this week, and
make plans to attend regularly.
