Joko Widodo

President of Indonesia, in office since 2014. Previously he was Mayor


of Surakarta from 2005 to 2012 and Governor of Jakarta from 2012 to
2014. He is the first Indonesian president not to have emerged from the
countrys political elite or as an army general.

Form of Government
Indonesia is a Presidential system type of government with
the President acting as head of state and government, and
of a multi-party system.

Capital city : JAKARTA

officially known as the Special Capital Region of Jakarta , is the capital and largest
city of the Republic of Indonesia.
Located on the northwest coast of the world's most populous island of Java, Jakarta is
the country's economic, cultural and political center, with a population of 10,075,310
as of 2014.

Rupiah (Rp) (IDR)

The rupiah (Rp) is the official currency of Indonesia.

Sang Saka Merah Putih" (meaning "lofty bicolor red and white")
Red stands for courage and sacrifice
White stands for purity and peace

Languages : Bahasa Indonesia

the official language of Indonesia. It is a standardized register of Malay,


an Austronesian language that has been used as a lingua franca in the
Indonesian archipelago for centuries. Most Indonesians also speak one of
more than 700 indigenous languages.

freedom of religion. (Islam, Hinduism, and
Buddhism)

National Day : Independence Day


Always celebrated on August 17, this is Indonesia's national holiday and
marks Indonesia's declaration of independence from the Netherlands in 1945

Major Holidays
Most important holidays in Indonesia is about Religious holidays like
Eidil Fitri: The celebration marks the conclusion of a one-month fasting
period which is religiously observed by all Moslems.
Eid'l Adha: Pilgrimage holiday The Moslem Day of sacrifices,
commemorated with mass prayers at mosque and in town square.

National Food and Flowers


Nasi Goreng - this take on Asian fried
rice is often made with sweet, thick soy
sauce called kecap (pronounced
ketchup) and garnished with acar,
pickled cucumber and carrots.

The moon orchid is one of the longest blooming


orchids. So it is widely found in the lowlands of
Indonesia

National Clothes

The national costume is derived from Indonesian culture and Indonesian traditional
textile traditions. Today the most widely recognize Indonesian national costume are
Batik and Kebaya.
