Increased focus shall be given in the occupied areas toward determination of
underground utilities apart from the other measures specifed below. 'Areas,
where underground utilities are present shall be noted during baseline
survey. Work-permits shall be obtained from the concerned authorities before
starting construction activities.
Trees that are to be cut shall be recorded. Tree-cutting shall be
avoided/minimized.
Top soil shall be preserved in the agricultural areas. And the same shall be
put back after back-flling the trench is over.

Water crossings & Rail -Road crossing shall noted in the baseline survey and
shall be placed on alignment sheets to plan for the required safety
precautions during project activities.
Areas, where electrical lines are found during baseline survey, shall be
marked. Safe clearence shall be maintained between the elextrical lines and
the construction equipments.
Prohibited. Intentional killing of an animal can occur only if the animal
represents a physical threat to the employee. In most cases, the employee can
reduce the risk by backing away from the situation.

Trenches shall be backflled as early as possible. Cross over arrangements
persons into trenches shall be provided across the trenches wherever persons and animals require
to cross. Trenches shall be checked for trapped animals each morning (if left
open overnight) and prior to backflling. If an animal is found in a pit, it shall
be removed in a manner that causes the least threat to the animal and
rescuers. For example, an attempt to remove it by providing a ramp or other
means by which the animal can escape on its own should be made before

activities

Mitigation
As far as possible, existing roads, parts of Wayleave/Right of Way (ROW) and
bridges shall be used to gain access to the work sites. If the existing roads are
inadequate, alternate access routes shall provided. Clearance shall be limited
to the minimum access required by the construction vehicles. Upon
completion, the access roads will be riverted to its original state or left
behind for community use. Only existing bridges and crossing shall be used to
traverse any streams or rivers.
Site Engineer, with the concent of Client, shall determine the minimal area to
be cleared around the work site for the practical and safe execution of the
work.
Project Team shall perform a survey to identify the area to be cleared and to
identify the vegetation that is to be preserved.
Vegetation to be preserved shall be marked with a durable marker and a
buffer zone to extend from the root to the edge of the vegetation canopy shall
be identifed and marked. No activity shall occur within the buffer zone. The
environmental baseline assessment for the area shall be a basis document for
identifying this vegetation. During the work, Site Engineer shall take the
following steps to reduce and mitigate impacts:
Trees and vegetation to be cleared shall be felled into the cleared area;
Activity outside of the cleared area (in undeveloped areas of the site) shall be
limited to only foot traffic;
The amount of land to be disturbed is to be minimized;
The amount of vegetation to be disturbed is to be minimized;

During grading arable land, special attention shall be given to the removal of
Reclamation soil
top soil and its segregation from subsoil. Top soil shall be stripped to a
minimum depth of 15cm.
Top soil shall be preserved so that it can be used as an effective growth
medium for re-vegetation of disturbed areas. Sediment barriers shall be used
to reduce losses through rains, etc.
Soil erosion
Once construction activities are completed, subsoil will be replaced where
removed and grading will be done to return natural / appropriate contours,
then topsoil will be returned.

Mitigation
Site Engineer shall obtain permission from Client for making boreholes to
withdraw ground water. Water wthdrawal shall be limited to the extent that
will not cause water scarcity for local public. Actual water consumption
volumes shall be documented
To minimize health-related impacts and nuisance impacts from dust, dust
control measures will be implemented, including spraying water.

Vehicles & Equipment Ear Plugs shall be used when noise level exceeds 90 dBA (8hours
duration).Depending on the neighborhood conditions, work hour restrictions
may be placed on certain noisy activities.
To minimize noise and air
emissions, all vehicles and equipment operating on site will have mufflers and
the mufflers shall be maintained in proper working order.
Water Pollution
Sewage shall not be discharged to water bodies or land. It shall be sent to
Municipal Water Treatment Plant.
Soil erosion &

Draining can be done in a dispersed manner that controls soil erosion.

chemicals &
Fuels
All vehicles will be equipped with a drip tray designed for collecting spills of
fuels.
To minimize the potential for and impact of spills, equipment maintenance
and refueling shall occur, whenever practical, only in the areas designated for
such activity.
All vehicles will be maintained at a location designated. No routine
maintenance may occur at work sites. If onsite repairs to vehicles are
necessary, drip pans shall be used to prevent contamination of soil.
Refueling of vehicles and equipment shall be performed using appropriate
measures( drip pans) to prevent spilling. No refueling will take place within
100m of a watercourse.
Storage in lined areas, with berms sufficient to retain 120% of the entire
volume of material that could be released (100% of the volume of material
plus 20% to account for the potential retention of rain water, etc.)
Inflammables and
their storage

Manufacturer's recommendation for storage, handling & disposal shall be

strictly adhered to. The chemicals shall be stored in a separate identifed
bermed area with portable fre extinguishers. Open flames, heat sources,
smoking shall be prohibited in the storage area.

site for community use.
Contaminated fuels, containers, and other potentially dangerous wastes will
be segregated from other wastes and stored in a designated area and
disposed as per applicable standards.
All waste will be segregated and stored separately to ensure that they are
disposed of appropriately. Further, materials that may be reused will be
identifed.
No hazardous wastes other than degradable food wastes will be buried at the
work sites or work camps.
Blasting Engineer shall be responsible for the safe use and storage of such
explosives and shall be responsible for full compliance with the laws,
