Scots Pine Origami Instructions

* Print out the ARKive Scots pine origami template and cut out to form a square *

Step 1: Start with a


square piece of
paper, printed-side
down.

Step 5: Turn over the


figure over.

Step 2: Fold the


paper in half by
folding the top corner
down to the bottom
corner.

Step 3: Now fold the


triangle in half by
taking the left corner
and folding it to the
right.

Step 6: Now perform


another squash fold on
the left flap.
Do this by lifting the left
flap up vertically and
opening it until its
corner meets the
bottom corner.

Step 4: We will now


perform a squash
fold.
Do this by opening
the top flap and
bringing the right
corner to the bottom
corner, creasing the
sides as you go.

Step 7: Ready for


another squash fold?
Lift the right flap up
vertically

Step 11: Turn the


whole figure over.

Step 8: Fold the


squashed left flap
completely over to
the right.

Step 12: Now squash


the right flap. To do this
lift the flap up vertically,
open and squash
down.

Step 9: Like in Step


7, lift the left flap up
vertically and squash
down.

Step 13: Fold the


squashed left flap over
to the right.

Step 10: Fold the


squashed right flap
completely over to
the left.

Step 14: Squash the


remaining flap

fold them neatly


backwards, so they are
tucked underneath the
tree using the creases
you just made, moving
round the tree as you
fold each section
under.

Step 15: Fold the


squashed right flap
over to the left. Your
figure should now
look like this.

Step 18: Once you


have tucked in the
remaining three
triangular flaps it
should look like this.

Step 16: Fold up the


triangle at the base of
your shape, making
sure you create a
good crease. Then
unfold

Step 19: Stand your


figure up and fan out
the flaps until it looks
like a pine tree.

Step 17: Now taking


each of the small
triangular sections
individually

You have now


completed your origami
