This downtown opportunities plan focused around the reconstruction of Shelbyvilles Civic Square. 3.

5 acres of parking lot and state highway will be


transformed into a pedestrian friendly square equipped with outdoor dining and gathering spaces, an events stage and lawn, splash pads, public art, native
landscapes, new retail space and an observation tower. A multi-use urban trail will run directly along the reshaped Harrison Street.

Brad was involved in the site designs for the Civic Square, Downtown Living Streetscapes, Multi-Generational Center and Brownstone Townhomes. He
completed all technical line drawings, plan renderings and Civic Square perspective renderings, as well as being involved in public engagement meetings and
events. Brad completed both the formal Shelbyville Downtown Opportunities Report and Stellar Communities Strategic Investment Plan Application.

The Civic Square served as the center piece project that


made the City of Shelbyville a finalist for the 2016 Stellar
Communities grant. Other projects that will be completed
as part of the Stellar Communities initiative include the
reconstruction of downtown streetscapes, the design
of a Multi-Generational Center and new Brownstone
Townhomes, the formation of a Neighborhood
Stabilization District and the adaptive re-use / re-design of
6 downtown historical buildings.

The Town of Pendleton completed a Downtown Revitalization Plan focusing on the economic growth of a historic downtown and a connection between
the commercial core and nearby Falls Park. Pendleton Avenue and an existing alleyway were studied as potential connection opportunities. Amenities such
as streetscape improvements, public gathering spaces, additional public parking, wayfinding signage and an upgraded pocket park were all highlighted in
Pendletons 115 page formal report document.
Brad aided the design process for all landscape and streetscape site designs, as well as the design for a downtown gateway feature and wayfinding signage. He
completed all technical line drawings, plan renderings, sections and the Downtown Revitalization Report adopted by the town in 2015.
