We have started the Really Looking

poetry unit in English. Within this unit,
we will be closely looking at stars
through the reading of descriptive
passagesandpoems.

This week we have read thestoryHow

to Catch a Star by Oliver Jeffers, and
usedthistexttowriteourownsentences
about catching stars. We have focused
on the use of capital letters, full stops
and ambitious vocabulary. We havealso
worked in groups to rehearse and
perform the poem Night and Stars by
StanleyCook.

Additionally, we have looked at

illustrations of stars and real star
constellations to inspire our imaginative
writing.

Read and compare different poems. Write

sentences to explain what you like/dislike about
themor chooseyourfavouritepoemtorehearse
