BeingaStudentAthleteisa
privilege
andwithprivilegescomeresponsibilities.Asoneofourathletes,we
expectthatplayerswillcomplywiththefollowingexpectationsandresponsibilities.

1.
Athleteswillperformtothebestoftheirabilitiesasstudents.
Youareastudentfirstandanathletesecond.Failingtocompleteassignments,submitwork,or
maintainingapassinggrade,indicatesaninabilitytohandletheloadofbeingateammemberaswellasa
student.Ifteachersarenotsatisfiedwithyourworkethicintheclassroom,youmaybesuspendedfrom
competitionuntilimprovementisshown.
Studentswillsubmitbiweeklygradecheckstotheircoach
Anyplayerwhohasmissedclassesduringthedaywillnotbepermittedtocompeteinthe
afternoongames/meets.
Athletesshouldrespectteachersandotherstudents,demonstratingcooperationandresponsible
behavioratalltimes.Behaviorshouldnotinterferewiththelearningopportunitiesofothers.

2.
Athleteswillfullycommittotheirsportandteam.
Thisincludes:
a)Committingto
all
practices,games,andteamexperiences.
everypracticemissedwillresultinappropriateconsequences(Thisincludesarrivingtopractice
lateand/orleavingearly)
athleteswillberemovedfromtheteamifmorethan
three
practicesaremissed(unlessabsences
aremutuallyagreedupon,andexcused,bythecoach)
b)Committingtostayingontheteamuntiltheendoftheseason,unlessmutuallyagreeduponbythe
coachandathlete.

Athleteswillalwaysconductthemselvesinanappropriatemanner.
a)Athleteswilldisplayrespectforcoaches,teammates,gameofficials,andopponents.

d)Athleteswilltakegoodcareofallequipmentissuedforplayeruse.
c)Athleteswillalwaysdemonstrategoodsportsmanship.

BullyingandHazingwillNOTbetoleratedatanytime.
Athleteswillberemovedimmediatelyfromtheprogramifanyinstancesofhazing/orbullying

SocialMedia
We,ascoaches,understandtherolethatsocialmediaplaysinourathleteslives.Athletesareexpectedto,
muchlikeonadailybasis,conductthemselvesprofessionallyonsocialmedia.

postanycontentwhichincludes:
negativecommentsaboutateammate,coach,parent,oropposingteam.
illegalactivity(includesdrinking/druguse).

Socialmediaisapowerfultoolletsuseitforthepositive!
Remember,asanathlete,youarerepresentingyourself,yourteam,yourcoaches,yourparents,and
GregoriHighSchool.Yourconductandsportsmanshipshouldalwayshaveapositivereflection.

6.
WaterPoloAthletesandParents
Waterpoloconsistsoftwolevels,JuniorVarsityandVarsity.
1)All9thand10thgraderswantingtoplayonJuniorVarsitywillbekept.
2)TheVarsitylevelwillhavetryoutsandcutsmaybemadeatthecoachesdiscretion.
3)Shoulda9thor10thgradeathletebeaskedtomoveuptovarsity,thecoachwillcommunicatewiththe
athleteandparentsthedecisiontomoveupwillbeamutualagreement.
**Pleaseremember,thehighschoollevelisverycompetitiveandplayingtimewillnotbeequalamong
players.**

Ascoaches,weprideourselvesoncreating,andmaintaining,thebestaquaticsprogram.First,wemust
beabletoaccuratelydefinetheword"best".Itiscommontoassociatethiswordwithwinninghowever,
thisisnotalwaysthecase.Althoughwinningisanimportantpartofplayingacompetitivesport,itisnot
theonlyaspectthatdefinesaprogram'sentity.
Ourgoalforbeingthe"best"consistsofproducinghardworking,dedicated,disciplined,andsuccessful
studentathletes.Weputourplayersfirstwefocusondevelopingcharacterandskillsnecessarytoexcel
inwaterpoloand/orswimming,maintaininghighteamandindividualgoals,andteachingwhatittakes
tobesuccessfulinandoutofthewater.
Weareverypassionateaboutwhatwedoandhopetoshareourpassionwithallofourathletes.
