Executive Summary
Mauled Resources (Pty) Limited, incorporating Zimbabwe Exploration Geologists (ZEGC) in cooperation with
Verisimilitude (Pvt) Ltd, were requested by the Client to assist in finding/sourcing for Investors or Joint
Venture partners to help develop and mine an alluvial diamond project in southern Namibia.
The client owns 6 blocks of claims located on the northern flank of the Orange river near the national
boundary with South Africa. It presents excellent potential blue sky opportunity as it is located in a
geologically favorable zone. An application to extend the tenure of the claims which was to end in August
2016 was launched.
Alluvial diamonds can fetch up to more than US$1000 per carat. The area is estimated to have approximately
24 000 carats of diamonds which when mined and sold can yield up to US$ 24 000 000 OR ZAR 360 million.
The Client is seeking for a Joint Venture partner to invest into the project in order to explore, develop a semimechanised mining operation, mine/ recover and sell alluvial diamonds from the project.

The Client is seeking to raise a total of ZAR50 million (or US$ 3 400 000).

Regional Geology
The Orange River area is underlain entirely by the Namaqua Mobile Belt which consists of
metamorphic terrain.
The Namaqua province includes:
Gneisses;
Granites and;
Schists.
The most prominent structural feature within the Namaqua province is the Pofadder lineament or
mega-shear which cuts across the orange river at Pelladrift striking in a NW direction.
The most prominent topographical feature in the area is the Orange river which has cut deep into
the surrounding granites and lavas on its course to the sea.
Layers of gravel, sand and clay which have calc-cemented in places and attain thicknesses of
between 1m to 5m are present in the area. The gravel consists of multi-coloured jaspers, banded
ironstones, bright red jasper and angular blocks of country rock are encountered near the base of
the deposits.
A few diamond were discovered on the farm Abassas, situated about 50km downstream of
Pelladrift, from a very small prospecting operation conducted in the lower lying terraces.
Although no known prospecting has been done to determine the existence of diamonds on the
Pelladrift properties, numerous reports of natives arrested for illicit diamond dealings have been
received.

Proposed Methods of Exploration

Prospecting on these properties would initially consist of:
Geological mapping
Test Pitting and trenching to determine bedrock depth, size of gravel deposits and the gravel thickness.
The gravels recovered during the initial prospecting stage will all be screened and put through a Rotary pan
and jig. In this way, it will be possible to determine the diamondiferous horizons and also the expected
grade of the deposit. After the testing stage larger scale mining and diamond recovery can be initiated. This
will entail the utilising of larger earth moving equipment and the employment of a diamond treating plant.

Summary Exploration Processes Up To Reserve Estimation

Properly planned exploration grids will be used in order to identify potential target zones within the
licence area.
According to Rockwell Diamonds alluvial diamond deposits are not characterised by the presence of any
indicator minerals, such as heavy minerals or micro-diamonds. There are no associated geochemical
signatures that may be used for determining the distribution of mineralisation in an alluvial diamond
deposit. Taking smaller samples of other minerals is not an option.
A sampling programme needs to sample the actual diamonds within the deposit. The image below
shows a guideline of the steps to be followed in a proper technical exploration program for diamonds.

Historical Diamond Production Statistics

Historically, diamonds were found only in alluvial deposits in Guntur and Krishna district of the
Krishna River delta in Southern India. India led the world in diamond production from the time
of their discovery in approximately the 9th century BC to the mid-18th century AD, but the
commercial potential of these sources had been exhausted by the late 18th century and at that
time India was eclipsed by Brazil where the first non-Indian diamonds were found in 1725.
Currently, one of the most prominent Indian mines is located at Panna.
Today, most commercially viable diamond deposits are in Russia (mostly in Sakha Republic, for
example Mir pipe and Udachnaya pipe), Botswana, Australia (Northern and Western Australia)
and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. In 2005, Russia produced almost one-fifth of the
global diamond output, according to the British Geological Survey.
Australia boasts the richest diamantiferous pipe, with production from the Argyle diamond mine
reaching peak levels of 42 metric tons per year in the 1990s. There are also commercial deposits
being actively mined in the Northwest Territories of Canada and Brazil. Diamond prospectors
continue to search the globe for diamond-bearing kimberlite and lamproite pipes.

CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

The project presents Blue sky opportunity by virtue of its being located in a geologically favourable
sedimentary environment for alluvial diamond occurrence.

Bulk sampling and Processing will reduce the need of having to send samples to laboratories.
However, initial geological sampling and possible geophysical investigations can not be avoided in
order to generate possible target zones or blocks on the licence area .

Unlike artisanal operations, semi-mechanisation is proposed for the project in order to maximise on
diamond recoveries.

This is an area where full value has not been realised. An Annual Report by De Beers Group (1981)
stated that, The evaluation of ancient gravels within the Orange River Valley upstream from
Oranjemund produced more promising results than in the previous years.

If one takes into account that diamond deposits exist both up and downstream of the Swanson
Orange River holdings together with the fact that diamond deposits are being opened up in the Koa
river valley which was a major tributary to the Orange River, then these Orange river holdings must
represent a diamond portfolio of very good potential indeed. Added to this is the fact that almost
80% of the diamonds recovered from the Orange river terraces are large high quality stones.
