Free opening by radio controller:

between transmitter and grab is abut 50 meters

ELECTRO-HYDRAULIC TYPE GRAB

1.OUTLINE
Hydraulic Power Unit driven by electric motor is
equipped with grab. Open and close is carried out by
powerful hydraulic cylinder. TOBU hydraulic grab was
developed by extensive engineering of more than 30
years experience.A leading manufacturer in the world.

2.FEATURE
1.Power unit for opening and closing is built in grab
body.
2.Strong grabbing power allow to grab even sticky and
hard cargoes easily.
3.Excellent performance: Strong power and light self
weight allow grab large volume of cargo at one time
4.Smooth and powerful operation: Opening speed is
about 60% quicker than closing speed due to less power
is required.
5.Crane can be used for various purpose: Furnish and
dismantle of grab is very simple and easy and any
attachment can be replaced in quickly, then crane can

grab can be done by crane operator by push button switch

EHSL:For apparent specific gravity of less than 1.0
of light weight cargoes such as wooden chip, grain,
pellet, coke, coal, sugar, fertilizer, and etc.
(powdery and granular cargoes)
EHSM: For specific gravity of less than 1.6 of medium
weight cargoes(powdery, granular, and small lumpy)
such as potassium, salt, phosphate, gypsum, bauxite,

SINGLE-ROPE HOOK-ON TYPE GRAB BUCKET

1.OUTLINE
SINGLE-ROPE HOOK-ON GRABS have been developed for
loading/unloading bulk cargoes by crane and winch
onboard with no open/close mechanism.
Real use of this type of grabs was after World War II
during importing bulk of foods to Japan.
Bulk cargo handling onboard was carried out by shovel
and basket. Mechanization of this human power work was
the earnest desire for harbor cargo handling. Then
this SINGLE-ROPE HOOK-ON GRAB have been developed and
used for many years for coal, fertilizer, salt, sugar,
ore, and etc.

onboard ships and factories.
One of bulk carriers reduced huge initial crane cost

4.GRAB OPENING SYSTEM

Grab closing is carried out by hoisting
wire of crane and grab opening is done
by following systems.
a) Pull-rope type(Hand opening): This type is old and
used many years. Pulling cord attached grab for
opening.
b) Touch down opening type(Automatic opening):
Grab to be lowered and grounded on Hopper or on
Truck and then heave up hoisting wire, it is up
and automatically opened.

1.OUTLINE
This type of grab is used for Truck crane, Mobile
crane, Wheel crane, Crawler crane and 3 types of
2-rope, 4-rope type, 4-rope with single winding is
available according to fitting method to crane.

2.FEATURE
GRAVEL 2M3

2-ROPE SHELL TYPE: 1 Rope for holding (hoisting/

lowering)and 1 rope for opening/closing grab, capacity
(heaved weight)is within load of one-rope pull
strength. This type is suitable for unloading work
needed high hoisting/lowering speed and opening/
closing speed.
4-ROPE(SINGLE WINDING)TYPE: 1 end of hoisting rope
reeves through grab sheaves and 1 end is fixed to
crane boom,1 open/close rope also reeves through
grab sheaves and 1 end is fixed to crane boom.
This system will be able to obtain up to twice load
(grab weight + cargo weight) of 2-ROPE TYPE at small
working radius for large volume of cargo at slow
speed.
4-ROPE TYPE: Same type of unloader crane grab for
large size of mobile crane with 2 ropes hoisting
winch and 2 ropes grabbing winch. This type of grab
is ideal for cargo handling without twisting and
tilting.

4-ROPE TYPE GRAB FOR UNLOADER AND CRANE

1.OUTLINE
GRABS FOR UNLOADER-CRANE is operated hoisting (holding
wire) and grabbing(opening/closing wire) winch of the
crane. Typical type is 4-R0PE TYPE and 2-ROPE
TYPE and 8-ROPE TYPE is also available.

CROSSING TINE TYPE: 2 tines and 1 tine the

other side or 2 tines on both side, each tine
are crossing each other for grabbing timber.
This type is so designed to grab uneven size
and to grab uncertain quantity of logs, and
to vary grabbing section depend on quantity of
log and sure grab logs.
HOE TYPE: Flat hoe type, right and left hoe
of shell is not crossing each other and side
of shell is opened.

3.APPLICATION
2.FEATURE
SHELL TYPE: As there are many vessel shape of grab,
clam shell type is used for bulk cargoes such as grain,
coal, fertilizer, ore, and etc. which is relatively easy
to grab.
Wide, Deep, and Shallow profile of shell is used depend
on cargo character. Ordinary Jaw of shell is flat and
butt type, but Jaw type is also vary depend on cargoes.
2 auxiliary edges overlapped each other for fine cargoes
and Concave-Convex with rubber seal for extra fine
cargoes.
It is effective to fit additional claw-type- blades
(tines) to shell-jaw for hard and sticky cargoes.
Long tines for sticky cargo to cut caky Nickel-ore and
short tines for lumpy ore to avoid surface slipping.

4.PHYSICAL FEATURE
CAPACITY: 2 M330 M3
WEIGHT: There is a tendency to make self weight
of grab as small as possible for getting large
grabbing volume.
OTHERS: Light weight and large volume will tend
to be insufficient in
strength, therefore
special consideration shall be taken in designing
of structure, member, and selection of materials.

UNLOADER

SHELL WITH BLADES (TINES) TYPE: An ax like blades are

fitted to the shell edges and both side of blades are
crossing each other at closing condition.
Quantity ,length, and shape of blade are decided by
character and lump size of handling cargoes. As blades
are fitted by bolts in general, there are also
wavy-shape jaw and saw-tooth shape jaw. These blades
are used for lumpy, sticky ore, soil, sand and gravel
for avoiding surface slip and getting high grab
efficiency.
POLYP(ORANGE PEEL) TYPE: 3 to 8 petals like fingers
make vessel when they are closed, they are called
orange peel type as it looks like peeling off orange
peel when they are opened. Each finger of triangle
shape with 120 to 45is stand vertically on cargoes
for easy to cut. This type is used for scrap, rock,
large lump ore, sticky cargo, wooden chip, and large
rubbish.
FORK TYPE: Fork type blades is fitted to shell jaws
by bolts or by welding and used for entangled goods such
as city rubbish, large rubbish, and. wooden chip.

1.OUTLINE
COIL LIFTER, SHEET LIFTER, and TURNING HOOK is developed
by demand of customers and used for all stevedores and
warehouses in Japan

2.FEATURE
COIL LIFTER: All function is controlled by electrohydraulic with high speed and smooth start/stop.
IN and OUT HOOK system is inside thickness of lifting
arm and it allows to use warehouse space effectively.
SLEWING motion is carried out by hydraulic motor without
swing of cargo(coil).Ship use and Warehouse use is available.
a)VERTICAL LINK TYPE COIL LIFTER FOR SHIP CARGO HANDLING:
Thin lifting arm with in-out hook within arm thickness
able to pull out or move coils in ships hold without damage.
Distance between coil and coil is minimum of 120 mm.
Battery power type and power supply from outside of coil
lifter is available. Control of coil lifter is remote

Height of this coil lifter is reduced to its limit so that

warehouse. Lifting arms is sliding type. Hook is in-out
type within thickness of lifting arms then lifting arms
can insert such a space of 120 mm between coil and coil.
Width of shoulder is very narrow and it is possible to
pull out a coil in the valley of coils without damage and
touching coils. Control system and power source is same as a).

SHEET LIFTER:
For handling of steel plate and boxed cargoes controlled by
electro-hydraulic. Hook is rotate 90horizontal and able
to insert hook in between cargoes gap of 90 mm.
Arms is open and close horizontal and slewing winch is
provided.
