b) Opinion: The book was very touching. No doubt that it became the New York Times
bestseller. I can feel the feelings that the author wants the readers to feel and it was not hard
to understand. There are lessons that can be learned and can be applied in our real lives. But
it was slightly boring at first because there is no thrill and excitement. The plot twist was also
good. It was the best book Ive read compared to the books we have this days. Most of the
books today have clich endings and same plot over and over again. Overall, the book was
perfect that will put tears in our eyes.

ANALYSIS and EVALUATION

In the novel Message in a Bottle, I liked the technique in writing of Nicholas Sparks. His
novel was very easy to understand because he only used one point of view and he didnt use
difficult words. At first, it was kind of boring. However, when I reached the middle until the last
part of the book, I became more focused in reading and my eyes never left the book. I felt the
feelings that the author wants the readers to feel. Especially the part when Garrett found out that
Theresa didnt tell him that she read his letters for Catherine. I also pity Theresa when she felt
that Garrett was not yet over Catherine and that she only reminds him of her. It was like she was
just an option or a rebound for him to forget Catherine and to divert his attention. While reading
that part, I cannot stop my tears from falling. I felt the pain that they feel. And when Garrett died,
I felt so sad because Theresa didnt know that he already let go of Catherine and his feelings for
her were already real and sincere. Garretts wish to live with her forever will never happen
anymore.
Overall, the novel was so interesting and emotional. It brought me tears, excitement and
pain. I can recommend the book to other persons who wants to read a love story or those who are
matured enough to understand and relate to the story.
IV.
CONCLUSION
I can learn some things from the book though I may not apply all of it for now but maybe I
can use them in the future. The best line that I read was the line of Theresas mother saying,
Take life one day at a time. I learned that we should cherish each day in our lives. Make the
best out of it because we never know when or until when our lives will be. Do not take it for
granted. As they say, Live life to the fullest. Do everything you want until you can. Enjoy your
childhood and teenage years.
I also learned about love. Like what Jeb said, If you love her, if she makes you happy, and
if you feel like you know her then dont let her go. So if we meet this kind of girl/guy in the
future, we should never let him/her go because true love is rare, and its the only thing that gives
life real meaning. True love comes at the right time. We just need to be patient while waiting and
just focus on things that are more important because if it is already the right time, it will
eventually happen.
