How the Tribulation Begins The Great Tribulation will begin suddenly. It will begin with a global earthquake that
effectively disrupts the activities of the whole world. (Revelation 8:5)
The sudden cessation of life as we know it will force everyone to stop and wonder what is
going on. This coming earthquake is particularly interesting because geologists theorized a
global earthquake was physically impossible until the early 1990s. Now, physical evidence
is proving that Earths tectonic plates go much deeper into the core of Earth than previously
thought, and this information has caused geoscientists to change their thinking.
The book of Revelation predicts there will be a total of four global earthquakes. (Revelation
8:5; 11:13; 11:19; 16:18) These earthquakes will increasingly rip up the surface of the world,
and the infrastructures of travel, communication and manufacturing will collapse during the
Great Tribulation.
These earthquakes have no equal in recorded history. Each earthquake will have greater
strength than the one before it. The final earthquake will be so violent that it will literally
move all of the mountains and islands from their places. (Revelation 16:20; 6:14)
Seaports and coastal cities, well known for their immoral behavior, will completely disappear
with overwhelming loss of life. Survivors will be frightened and distressed by the angry
tossing of the sea. (Luke 21:25) Ships will not be able to cross the ocean and men will be
powerless to do anything about the churning of the deep.
Tribulation begins, God will anoint 144,000 servant messengers with exceptional Holy Spirit
power.
These people, from every nation, kindred, tongue and people, will speak for God for 1,260
days. The 144,000 will be ordinary people who will come from every religious background,
and they will harmoniously proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ to the human race.
As strange as it may sound, most of the worlds population will reject the terms and
conditions of salvation. About two and a half years after the Great Tribulation begins, God
permits that ancient serpent, the devil himself, to appear on Earth physically. The devil will
come with millions of angels and he will masquerade as Almighty God. (Revelation 9:1-11; 2
Thessalonians 2:1-12; Revelation 13:11-18)
The devil is the dreaded Antichrist. Deceptively cloaked in brilliant light and charming
benevolence, the devil will claim that he is God. The devil will declare that he has come to
establish a thousand years of peace on Earth. At this time, there will be three identifiable
groups of people. The first group of people are those who have rejected the devil and
decided to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit.
The other group of people will readily receive the devil as God because of the miracles he
performs. The third group of people will defy both the devils demands and the prompting of
the Holy Spirit because they refuse to obey anyone. Since God is separating the people of
Earth into two camps, sheep and goats, He will allow the devil to inflict great pain and
suffering upon this third group of people who have chosen to defy both Gods and the devils
authority.
Fortunately, the devil will not harm the saints with this affliction. Many of the devils victims
will eventually relent and join the devils camp. However, a few of his victims will come to
their senses, repent of their defiance against the gospel of Jesus and receive salvation.
The devil will even call fire down from Heaven to prove his assumed divinity. Consequently,
millions of people will ultimately conclude that the devil is God and they will obey him with
astounding zeal and devotion.
This tattoo will be the number 666. People who serve as officials in the kingdom of the
devil will receive a tattoo on their foreheads to show their superior rank. The tattoo on the
foreheads of the devils lieutenants will be the chosen name that the devil uses. (Revelation
13:17) The placement of a tattoo on the forehead of Satans lieutenants is a blatant
counterfeit of what God intends to do for His faithful servants, the 144,000, after He takes
them to Heaven. (See Revelation 14:1; 22:4.)
eternal annihilation. God has never implemented this type of wrath on Earth before. At the
end of the one thousand-year millennium, God will resurrect all of the wicked.
They must stand before the judgment bar of Christ and hear why He has refused to grant
them eternal life. After the wicked confess that Jesus was righteous and fair in His decision,
God will punish the wicked and totally annihilate both sin and sinners. And whosoever was
not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. . . . Blessed are they that
do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through
the gates into the city. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and
murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. (Revelation 20:15;
22:14,15, KJV, insertion mine)
The topic of Gods wrath is enormous and it requires study to understand the right balance
between Gods mercy and Gods justice. This topic is covered in more detail in my book,
Jesus, The Alpha and The Omega.

standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day

And if we think that it is very hard to obey the commandments of God? Jesus said:
Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will
strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous
right hand.

learly the Old Testament is to be obeyed until the end of human existence itself. None other
then Jesus said so.
All of the vicious Old Testament laws will be binding forever. It is easier for Heaven and
Earth to pass away than for the smallest part of the letter of the law to become
invalid. (Luke 16:17 NAB)
The teachings of Jesus, the Council of Jerusalem, and other New Testament teachings
(John 1:16-17, Acts 13:39, Romans 2:25-29, 8:1-4, 1 Corinthians 9:19-21, Galatians
2:15-16,Ephesians 2:15) make it clear that Christians are not required to follow the Old
Testament rules about crimes and punishments, warfare, slavery, diet, circumcision,
animal sacrifices, feast days, Sabbath observance, ritual cleanness, etc.
Christians still look to the Old Testament scripture for moral and spiritual guidance
(2 Timothy 3:16-17). But when there seems to be a conflict between Old Testament laws
and New Testament principles, we must follow the New Testament because it
represents the most recent and most perfect revelation from God (Hebrews
8:13, 2 Corinthians 3:1-18, Galatians 2:15-20).
However, freedom from the Old Testament Law is not a license for Christians to relax
their moral standards. The moral and ethical teachings of Jesus and His apostles call
for even greater self-discipline than those of the Old Testament (Matthew 5:21-22, 2728, 31-32, 33-34, 38-42, 43-48, 7:1-5, 15:18-19, 25:37-40, Mark
7:21-23, 12:2831, Luke 12:15, 1 Corinthians 13:1-13,Galatians 5:19-21, James 1:27, 2:15-16, 1 John
3:17-19).
Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners,
shall inherit the kingdom of God.

The Bible is consistent through both Old and New Testaments in confirming that homosexuality is sin
(Genesis 19:113; Leviticus 18:22; 20:13; Romans 1:2627; 1 Corinthians 6:9; Jude 1:7). In this
matter, the New Testament reinforces what the Old Testament had declared since the Law was given
to Moses (Leviticus 20:13). The difference between the Old and New Testaments is that the New
Testament offers hope and restoration to those caught up in the sin of homosexuality through the
redeeming power of Jesus. It is the same hope that is offered to anyone who chooses to accept it
(John 1:12; 3:1618).
Gods standards of holiness did not change with the coming of Jesus, because God does not
change (Malachi 3:6; Hebrews 13:8). Hebrews

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
The New Testament is a continuing revelation of Gods interaction with humanity. God hated idolatry
in the Old Testament (Deuteronomy 5:8), and He still hates it in the New (1 John 5:21). What was
immoral in the Old Testament is still immoral in the New.
The good news is that homosexuality is not the unpardonable sin. It is forgivable just like greed,
theft, and murder are forgivable when we repent and turn to Jesus (Acts 2:38). He provides us with
new identities (1 Peter 1:14; Colossians 2:13). Second Corinthians 5:17 says that if anyone is in
Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! Those old things include
former sins that once held us captive. Whereas we were once defined by our sin, being born again
(John 3:3) means we are now defined by Jesus and His righteousness (Colossians 3:3). A thief no
longer has to define himself as a thief. He is cleansed from his former ways and made new in Christ.
A murderersuch as Saul before he became the apostle Paulis forgiven and conformed to the
image of Christ (Galatians 1:13; 1 Corinthians 15:9; Romans 8:29). And someone trapped in
homosexuality can be set free to walk in purity when he or she agrees with God about sin and trusts
His power to forgive and restore.
An Expanding Universe:
The prophet Isaiah who lived almost 3,000 years ago stated
"It is He that . . . stretches out the heavens as a curtain, and spreads them out as a
tent to dwell in." [40:22]
Scientists are beginning to understand that the universe is expanding, or stretching out. At
least seven times the Scriptures clearly tell us that God stretches out the heavens like a
curtain.
