Control Design of Photovoltaic BPSX-60 Using

Fuzzy Logic Controller for Low Voltage Grid

Abstract This paper presents a system photovoltaic

BPSX-60 in order to have continously electricity supply for low
voltage grid. Output photovoltaic BPSX-60 is controlled by dcdc boost converter to produce maximum power in order to
obtain the MPP (Maximum Power Point). Output of the
converter is controlled by fuzzy logic to obtain the MPP
(Maximum Power Point) photovoltaic BPSX - 60, thus the
efficiency photovoltaic BPSX - 60 can be increased. From the
simulation using matlab 2010 can be concluded that the
controller can shift power to 90 % maximum power of
photovoltaic BPSX - 60.

improve the system reliability photovoltaic. There are two

ways to increase the system efficiency of photovoltaic. First,
improve the materials to have high conversion efficiency at
low cost. Second, to operate photovoltaic system optimally.
This paper proposed the second way, thus to optimize the
system photovoltaic using fuzzy logic controller.

INTRODUCTION

In this century, the increasing of energy demand

followed by the increasing cost of fuel. A lot of people are
tend to use renewable energy to generate electric energy.
Renewable energy is used due to affordable price and produce
less pollution (CO2) in the environment, furthermore less
greenhouse effect can be reached.
In 2012 and 2014, Soedibyo et al.[1-2] Renewable
energy has been explored to meet the load demand. Utilization
of renewable energy is able to secure long-term sustainable
energy supply, and reduce local and global atmospheric
emissions. Photovoltaic are become the promising
technologies for supplying the load demand in remote and
isolated area. However, there are several weakness faced by
such resources. One of the weaknesses is the power generated
by photovoltaic is influenced by the weather conditions. The
variations of power generated by these sources may not match
with the time distribution of demand. In addition, the
intermittent power from photovoltaic may result in serious
reliability concerns in both design and operation of
photovoltaic system.
In 2013 and 2015, Soedibyo et al.[3-4] Photovoltaic that
clean, and abundantly available in nature, are being developed
to affordable price and large-scale use. But, highly considered
to increase the system efficiency photovoltaic as well as to

2.a. Photovoltaic
Solar photovoltaic generation system are becoming
increasingly important as renewable energy source since it
offers many advantages such as incurring no fuel costs, not
being polluting, requiring little maintenance, and emitting
nonoise, among others. The building block of PV arrays is the

solar cell, which is basically a pn semiconductor junction.

The currentvoltage (IV) characteristic of a solar
photovoltaic is given by Eq. (1).

From figure 12, it can be seen that the fuzzy logic controller
can control power into maximum, with Irradiance of 0.75
kw/m2 in the second to zero s, Irradiance 0.75 kw/m2 to 0.1 s,
Irradiance 1 kw/m2 to 0.2 s, Irradiance 1 kw/m2 to 0.3 s,

V. Conclusion
Design of a photovoltaic BPSX 60 by fuzzy logic can
contribute to the load in accordance with the energy produced
in optimum condition. By varying the input Irradiance for
photovoltaic BPSX - 60 system can generate maximum power.
The system of photovoltaic BPSX - 60 can provide power
90% their energy to the load.
