BILL OF QUANTITIES (BOQ)

SUPPLY & INSTALLATION OF A 800 kVA DIESEL GENERATOR

PREAMBLE TO THE BILL OF QUANTITIES

The Conditions of Contract together with the Specification, Schedules and the Drawings shall be read in
conjunction with the Bill of Quantities (including this Preamble) and in so far as they have any bearing
shall be referred to for details of the description, quality test and strength of materials used and the
workmanship, conditions, obligations, liabilities and instructions generally which shall be complied for
carrying out of the Contract. The cost of complying with all conditions, obligations and liabilities
described in the Conditions of Contract, Specification, Schedules and Bill of Quantities including all
overhead charges and profit for carrying out the works as given in the Scope of Contract shall be deemed
to be spread over and included in the prices or sums stated by the Contractor in the Bill of Quantities.

Bidder is strictly adviced to visit the site and assess the site conditions before submit their bids. Bids
without prior site inspection may cause for rejection of their bids

Each item shall be deemed to have been priced (and extended to the "Amount" column) in Sri Lankan
rupees by the Contractor with the exception of items for which a rate only is required or which already
have provisional sums affixed thereto. If the Contractor fails to price any items in the Bill of Quantities
then the cost of the work under such items shall be deemed to be spread over and included in the prices
given against other items of work.

The prices quoted shall be in Sri Lanka Rupees and shall be firm. No price adjustment will be made for
exchange rate variation. The supply cost quoted shall be the delivery cost including freight, custom
duties, inland transport etc.
The installation cost quoted shall include for all accessories required for complete installation and for all
temporary works such as scaffolding, welding if any etc.

Electrical power supply, water supply, if required, for usage by the Contractor during installation work
may be provided free of charge by the Employer.

1 Remove existing 75 kVA Generator

temporarily place it adjacent to the switch room
and provide temporary cable to the existing ATS at
the switch room
2 Modify existing generator room
Modify and extend existing generator room (4.5 m
*7.5m) to accommodate the installation of 800
kVA generator. The concrete plinth shall be
designed and constructed to match with new
generator installation.
3 Diesel Generating Set
Supply, test at manufacturers workshop, delivery
to site and installation of 800 kVA (prime), 3
phase and neutral, 50 Hz, 400/230V auto start
diesel engine driven generator set including sound
attenuating canopy, exhaust pipe (standard length),
and with all necessary accessories as specified in
the technical specifications.
(The generator set and the ancillary equipment
shall be installed in the area allocated for the
generator as shown in the drawing. Tenderer shall
check and confirm that the space available is
sufficient for installation and proper functioning of
the generator. Tenderer may propose alternative
arrangements.)

Allow for costs of supply including CIF, port and


transport charges, testing at manufacturer's works,
witnessing of testing at manufacture's works
4 Additional Exhaust Pipes
Supply
and
installation
of
additional
horizontal/vertical exhaust pipes, made of same
material as the exhaust pipe of standard length ,
for the purpose of disposal at a higher elevation of
exhaust gases of the diesel engine.
5 Control Panel
Supply and installation of Control Panel complete
for the above Diesel Generator, as specified.
All required relays, instruments, meters, cabling
(excluding main power cables from the diesel
generator) shall be provided.
6 Main Fuel Tank
Supply and installation of indoor bulk tank with a
capacity adequate for 12 hr full load operation of
engine-generator set for 4 days, complete with all
fittings required and associated civil works.
All civil works including excavation and
backfilling, concreting etc. shall be included.

7 Daily Fuel Tank

Qty. Unit

Supply and installation of indoor daily tank with a


capacity adequate for 12 hr full load operation of
engine-generator set, complete with all fittings as
specified in the technical specifications.
8 Fuel Transfer Pump
Supply and installation of a hand operated fuel
transfer pump of the self-priming type shall be
supplied complete with flexible hose and installed
by the contractor in the position specified. The
hand pump should have a capacity of 20 times the
rate of fuel consumption of the engine. pumping
diesel from the main storage tank to the daily tank
as specified in the technical specifications.
9 Pipes and Valves
Supply of all required pipes, valves and other
accessories from the main fuel tank to the daily
fuel tank and from daily fuel tank to the diesel
engine.
10 Any other item of work which are required, in the
opinion of the Tenderer, for the completion of
diesel generators (Please specify Detail)
11 Generator Switchgear
11.1 Supply and installation of 1600 A, 50 kA, 4 pole
Moulded Case Circuit Breaker (MCCB) or Air
Circuit Breaker (ACB) with adjustable overload,
short-circuit and other specified protections, and
with adjustable tripping timing, for the protection
of generator.
11.2 Supply and installation of 20kA surge diverters for
three phases and neutral
11.3 Supply and installation of Earthing System. This
should include generator frame earthing and nutral
earthing as well.
12 Automatic Changeover Switchgear Panel
12.1 Supply of 1600A, 4 pole circuit breaker panel for
Diesel Generator incoming complete with
automatic mains failure (AMF) and automatic load
transfer switch (ATS) switchgear for automatic
transfer of load from CEB supply to Diesel
Generator supply and vise versa.
The circuit breaker should be interlocked with the
existing CEB incoming breaker not only elctrically
but also mechanically.
Circuit Breaker panel shall be made as the existing
panels by keeping prvision to connect existing
main bus bar and 2 mm sheet steel and
electrostatically powder coated.
Detection of mains failure and availability shall be
automatic.
All required control circuits, control cables,
contactors, relays etc. shall be included.
