What is TAFES?
TAFES stand for Tanzania
Fellowship of Evangelical Students.
It is a National and Interdenominational Christian ministry
that serving students in Universities
and Colleges

What is TAFES?
This is the fellowship of
Students,Graduates (Associates)
and Staffs all over Tanzania who
have come together regardless of
their denominational affiliations to
reach Students with gospel of Jesus
Christ.

Background.

TAFES work started as spontaneous

work of God in the emerging
Universities of East Africa in the mid
1950s.
Before Tafes was FOCUS
Before FOCUS was PAFES
Before PAFES was IFES

Background.

IFES-International Fellowship of Evangelical

Students introduce the called PAFES to
coordinate the students ministry in universities
in Africa in 1950s.
PAFES-Pan Africa Fellowship of Evangelical
Students introduce the wing of PAFES
adopted the name of FOCUS that coordinate
the Christian fellowship at the Universities in
East Africa which was Makerere UniversityUganda,University of Dar es Salaam-Tanzania
and Nairobi University-Kenya in 1973.

After the the dissolution or collapse of
EAC-East Africa Community in 1977
the operation of FOCUS became very
difficult and FOCUS break in three;
FOCUS-Kenya
FOCUS-Tanzania
FOCUS-Uganda

Short history and

Background.

FOCUS-Tanzania operated under

Scripture Union until June 1990.
In June 1990 the ministry was
legally registered with government
of United Republic of Tanzinia as
TAFES

Our Vision

with gospel of our Lord
Jesus Christ

We are Evangelical-By being evangelical,

TAFES is a bible believing Fellowship.The Bible is
our standard & final authority in all matters of faith
&conduct

We are Interdenominational and

Nondenominational-By being an
interdenominational, TAFES membership cut
across various denominationsand hence provide
common forum for worship,As a nondenominational
Fellowship, TAFES isnot a denomination and do
not align to any particular denomination.

We are Student-centered-We operate primarily in tertiary

institutions and we are committed to student s

We are passionate about the unity of believers-As

a result of our interdenominational and nondenominational
status, we provide the forum where believers from different
denominations interact and relate as members of the universal
Church the body of Christ

integrity-We aimed at ensuring that our students are
academically good and that they are of godly character with
Christ as their role model

the family, Church and society.

develop Christian leaders who will play key leadership
roles while on campus, in Churches and wider society.

Prayer-we are prayer movement thst is

commitede to personal and intercessory prayer
meetings

Scripure engagement-As the result of our

evangelical haritage,we give ample time to in- depth study of
the scripure.

Service to the Church and Communities-We

serve local Churches by developing the students while in
school and redirect them back to the churches upon
graduation.

Doctrinal basis of faith Cont....

TAFES has Doctrinal basis of faith which is the
fundamental truth of Christianity:

The unity of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit in the

Godhead
The sovereignty of God in creation, revelation,
redemption and final judgment
The bodily resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ from
the dead and His ascension to the right hand of God
the Father.
The presence and power of the Holy Spirit in the
work of regeneration.

God through faith alone.
The indwelling and work of the Holy Spirit in the
