C O N C E R N :

Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to read this letter. I understand
you are looking for the perfect person to serve as an assistant principal of discipline at
Tolleson Union High School. Please consider me.
As the spouse of an active duty USAF member, I have moved around the country several
times gaining valuable experience. Now that my husband has retired and we have made
Phoenix our permanent home, I am eager to begin this new journey. Since returning to
the valley last spring I have worked as a math teacher and department head at Copper
Canyon High School in Glendale, AZ. The department of 15 teachers consists of only three
returning teachers. There are three first year teachers, three long term substitutes, and
only three of us have more than five years of experience. Although there have been
challenges we have faced them head on and our semester EOCA scores are at or above
the district average for nearly every math content area.

As you will note on my enclosed resume, I hold a Master of Arts in Education:

Administration and Supervision degree with a K-12 principal certificate. I have nearly
completed the Curriculum and Instruction specialization of the Doctor of Education in
Educational Leadership program. I have been selected as a Rodel Aspiring Principal for
the 2016-2017 school year. This two year program provides the opportunity to learn the
systems necessary for schoolwide success from highly effective practicing
administrators. In 2013, I successfully completed Hillsborough County Public Schools
Future Leaders Academy. This is a 6 month program designed to prepare teacher leaders
to become a school principal. Future Leaders Academy prepared me beyond my
administration and supervision coursework by providing me with real-world
experiences and training specifically related to the role of an assistant principal.
My former position as a Peer Evaluator has provided a wealth of knowledge in the area
of increasing effective teaching and improving the quality of student learning. I have
completed over 900 classroom observations in the past three years providing both
written and verbal feedback to K-12 teachers in a variety of subject areas. I have trained
district staff and other peer evaluators on the Charlotte Danielson rubric, rigor, culture,
engagement, assessment, questioning, and discussion. I often attended voluntary training
to increase both subject and professional knowledge. This experience has helped me a
great deal as the department chair of very young math department. While I believe my
experiences and education make me a qualified candidate, I know that relationship
building is the key to becoming a successful leader. In each position held, relationship
building has been a priority.
I look forward to the interview process and the opportunity to share my qualifications
and vision for this position.
Sincerely,
Lindsey Robertson
