SCOPE OF STTP

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

FACULTY

Microgrids have been identified as being a necessary part

of the modern electrical grid. With their grid
interconnectivity advantages, a microgrids improve
system energy efficiency, reliability and provide grid
independence to end user sites. Enabling grid
modernization and integration of multiple distributed
and renewable energy sources help to reduce peak load
and losses by locating generation near demand meeting
end user needs. Interconnection of renewable energy
generation ensure energy supply for critical loads,
controlling power quality and reliability at the local level,
and promoting customer participation through demand
side management and community involvement in
electricity supply.
This workshop intends to impart a general theoretical
background in the areas of microgrid, smartgrid and
futuristic energy model. The participants will be
introduced to power optimization and design of
renewable energy systems. Regulatory and policy issues
etc. will also be discussed in the programme.

The department offers both BE (Electrical

Engineering), ME (Power Electronics and Drives) and
PhD programmes. The department has well-qualified
faculty and well equipped laboratories and other
infrastructure. The department regularly conducts
seminars, project contests and short-term courses for
the benefit of students, academicians and industry
personnel.

The speakers will be from IIT Bombay, VJTI, BARC,

MERC etc. The demo & practical sessions will be
conducted by experts from the industry and the
institutes.

PROFILE OF THE INSTITUTE

Fr. C. Rodrigues Institute of Technology (FCRIT) is one of
the leading academic institutions of Mumbai University.
It was established in 1994 at Vashi, Navi Mumbai, as a
part of the Agnel Technical Education Complex. Apart
from academic excellence the campus is also reputed for
its extensive facilities that have led to it being awarded
an A grade by the Directorate of Technical Education,
Maharashtra right from its inception. All the five UG
engineering programmes (Computer, Mechanical,
Electrical, Electronics & Telecommunication and
Information Technology) of the institute were accredited
in August 2012 by the National Board of Accreditation,
New Delhi. The institute is also recognized by the AICTE
and is dedicated to fulfilling the following missions:
To provide industry oriented quality education and
training.
Provide holistic environment for overall personal
development.
To bring to full blossoming the potential in every
student.
