azure

hawk as a symbol has many meanings. To name

a few - freedom, liberty, speed, agility, flexibilty.
I thought it was a perfect way to introduce my music and the meaning
behind it. I have to admit, Im a total loser when it comes to designing so
I had the logo made for me by someone else by request.
The

iii

(better known after his producer name

AZVRE) is a 23 year old music producer from Germany.
Although his last name (Schwarz) translates as the color black in
German, Patricks life and music is not all about the dark.
As he explains during the interview, music is definitely something
that has shaped him as a person through his life. The only difference
now is that he knows how to shape music himself as he gives us a
little insight about the person behind the name.

i
Im having a hard
time
pin-pointing it down.
The first
tune I ever made was
on that PlayStation program
of course. If we get
on a serious note
I think my first REAL
tune was a remix of Everybody Breaks A
Glass by LIGHTS. I made it as an entry
for this remix contest I participated. It was
something new and I wanted to try it out.

what is azure ?

#007fff

In my early years (when I was about 10 - 12) my brother started producing with some kind of PlayStation game. I didnt really like it at
first to be honest. Id much rather just listen to music instead of trying to make it. Four years later my brother passed away. I wanted
to have some memories of him, so that made me open up
the program he used to work with. On from that,
I tried to fill up the work he had started and began
to get into it. It was still a game though (PlayStation
game), so I decided to change my ways and started doing music on my computer. Thats how everything began.

Everything
else before that song
was basically mashups and more
mashups.
Everybody
Breaks
A Glass was a great experience and a great beginning for my career.

How to pronounce AZVRE ?

Schwarz

I actually had 2 other names before settling with AZVRE. I first put my music out
under the name The2ndHope. I liked it in the beginning but somehow it began
to sound very amateur to me. I decided to change it and continued with Cypher.
After a while it came to the point where I felt I need to change the name
again. I began to feel like it wasnt special enough. Confusions occurred
weather it was the lack of being one of a kind or the struggle to be found easily.
The process of finding the right name made me contemplate about my tendency to combine colors with my thoughts and my music. I came to the conclusion that the color
blue (more specifically AZURE BLUE) would be the best choice to represent my music a s
as a whole its a strong tone and calm at the same time. I changed the U in AZURE (as

When

I listen to music, I sometimes find myself humming new melodies over the excisting ones. Sounds which
could fit the song, but arent actually there. I record my hummings and try to recreate my own sounds based on it.
Other times I start with no ideas, I just take the sample and destroy it so much that it becomes a totally different sound by
accident. If I feel it has potential, I keep it and use it.
Sometimes things come together on their
own and you need to hold on to them. Thats

what software youre using as long as

you achive the sound youre happy with.

basically what happens very often actually.

Theres also this little trick Ive discovered of reversing parts and
bits of original songs shh
dont tell anyone. They
end up giving you
some
interesting melody combinations as well.
Its
just the matter of enhancing
it and making it fit for your taste.

Ive used different DAWs (music software).

I got started with Music 2000 (The PlayStation
Game- as previously mentioned). After that came Reason, until I ended up using FL Studio 9. That was
probably the longest period I stayed at one DAW. I updated to FL Studio version 10, 11 and now 12 at the
point of 2016. I also used Ableton at some point but
it didnt fit into my taste so I switched back to FL.
I have to say its not really that important

its not really

that important
what
software
youre
using,
as
long as you achieve

the sound

you are happy

with.

Most
of
my
influences
come
from
music
itself.
Id say Im quite influenced and inspired by Linkin Park and Daft Punk.
Their ability to create sounds youve never really heard are just out of this world.
Take an example of One more time by Daft Punk. You dont really get bored of it, but
if you listen to it you realize its actually the same tune over and over again repeating for minutes.3 Its a talent to create such a significant sound which repeats but never gets boring genius!

how

I was hoping nobody would

ever ask me this question, I
have to think about it crazy much.
Its quite difficult to describe your OWN
sound because of how involved youre
in the process of making it. Youre never really sure how other people experience it - what sound elements catch their
ears first or how do take it in as a whole.
I think I would describe my sound
as
real,
powerful,
simple
but
with
passion.
Right now Im really into trap, but its never been my intention to stick to only one

sound. If I go through my works so far theres

a variety of genres represented - Acoustic, Orchestra, Dubstep, Trap, Drum and
Bass, Future Bass, Rock or even Hip Hop.
I personally find my music more interesting when its not forced to follow only one
certain sound. I also like to mix up instruments in every direction I am going.
Youll find a flute within a dark electronic
bass or xylophone mixed with house music. If you mix black and black
youll
get
the
same
tone as before its boring.

if

I have a nice drum beat (or anything else) in my mind, I start

off by trying to recreate that.

Other than that I just casually mess

around with chords, harmonies
and basslines using all kind of instruments. Its like a basic template I
create for myself to build on.
All special effects and complex
sounds will be created later on.

when

im producing time flies, so sometimes I

find myself in situations where I realize
Ive been producing for 28 hours
in a row (probably the longest Ive
been). Sometimes it just feels good and
you have so much inspiration
over and over again you
simply cant stop. To
be honest producing
actually af- f e c t s
my
sleep
immensely. I messed
up my sleeping schedule ever
since I started with
it. Starting at 6 PM and
going to sleep
around 4-5 AM or

even later. For some

reasons I find myself
more creative when
its dark. I also need to
be very concentrated to do
this, that also happens
to be during
nights.
