Technical Specification for Street & General Lighting in CMH Project Area
(A) Scope of work:
The scope of work covers the following:
1. Providing hot dipped galavanized OCTOGANAL street light poles with HPSVlights
on turnkey basis. All related work like supply & erection of pole, supply &laying of
power cables, tapping power from the existing sources, providing distributionboxes,
providing Automatic timer (RTC based timer) for auto on/off etc. are included in the
scope of work.Supply of all the items as mentioned in Schedule of items is under the
scope of supply.
2. Tapping of supply from nearby power source with 35 Sq.mm 3.5 Core
AluminiumCable to the distribution box to all street light poles. This outgoing feeder
shall be completed with 32A, 4pole power contactor, and timer to switch ON and
OFF of street lights automatically.
3. Fabricating supplying and mounting of compartmentalized MS Distribution Box
made out of 18 swg sheet, suitable for floor mounting, Outdoor type, fully weather
proof, double door, canopy, hinged front cover, equipped with tamper proof locking
arrangement, with suitable size clamps and necessary provision for cable entry pipe.
Box should be finished with 1 coat of redoxide primer and 2 coats of finish paint with
Siemens grey enamelled metal paint. This distribution box to be supplied with 63A
TPN SFU as the incoming and 4 pole 16A MCBs - 6 nos. as outgoing. The panel
shall be provided with suitable rated AC ammeter with CT and 0-600 volt AC
voltmeter and respective rotary selector switches with off position shall be provided.
Outgoing 16A, 4 pole MCB shall be provided with 32A 4 Pole power contactor, timer
for auto on/off system for automatically switching on/off street lights. The DB should
be complete with all internal wiring and cable terminations.
4. Cable Terminations with lugs, laying of cables in trench and back filling, loop in &
loop outat junction boxes of individual poles and termination of cables at luminaries.
Distribution of lighting on 3 phases should bebalanced by proper looping.
5. Supply and erection of 32A, 4 pole power contactor, timer circuit etc. for
automaticoperation of street lights from dusk to dawn.
6. Contractor shall do the necessary arrangement for identification of cable by
providing proper cable tag and also mark incoming & outgoing legends suitably on
the feeder, street light poles. Route markers to be provided along the cable route to
enable its easy tracking.Trench should be of suitable size back filling after drawing of
cable in HDPE(DWC) pipe and laying. Suitableprotection sand for a depth of 150mm
around the cable and. Coping of poles should be done with suitable concretemixwith
provision for junction box.
7. Contractor shall do the testing & commissioning of cables, light poles and
feeders.Manufacturers test certificates should be submitted along with cables.
8. The quantities indicated in schedule of items are tentative and may vary as per the
siterequirement. However, Payment shall be made based on actual work done.
9. Contractor has to arrange all the required materials, tools & tackles,
labour,transportation etc., at their cost.
10. The contractor shall also supply allitems like junction boxes, MCBs,
anchorfasteners, screws, bolts, nuts,washers, cable glands and lugs etc. and carry
out associated minorworks for successful completion of work.
11. Any other items that are not indicated but form part of the execution shall be
deemed to be included in the scope and vendor shall include the cost of such items
in their offer.
12. The material supplied & work executed shall comply with I.S Standards& I.E
Rules. HSL shall have the right to reject any materials and workmanship, if it is found
not conformingto specifications, approved brand, terms & conditions.
13. Latest revision of all applicable I.S Stanadards, I.E Codes, Regulations shall
govern the design,manufacturing, installation, testing & commissioning of this work
even when therequirement of specification is less stringent than the codes,
regulations & standards.In the event of requirement of the specification exceeds the
corresponding codes,regulations or standards, the specification shall govern.

1. Street Light Luminaire :
Features:

g. Installation : Luminaire should be fitted on suitable horizontal mounting on
arm bracket with dia. of 25to 27 mm

2. Street light Pole:
a. Each pole shall have a weather proof looping/terminal box clamped at
550mmabove ground level along with a suitable earth terminal. The looping
box shall beprovided with a suitable busbar arrangement to loop 2 to 3 cables
of size16sq.mm and MCB/5A fuse cutout. A base plate 300 x300x10mm shall
be welded to the bottom of thepole.
b. The pole shall be provided with necessary cross arm for mounting street light
fitting. Both underground cable and GI earth wire shall be terminated atthe
terminal/ looping box in the looping zone. Further wiring to the light fixture
shallbe done with three core flexible copper wire (2core for power supply and
third coreforearthing).
c. The GI Octagonal pole shall be suitable for mounting on concrete foundation.
d. The civil work for street light pole foundation forms a part of erection.
e. Each street light pole shall be provided with double coil earthing, using
15metre long8swg GI wire wound to form 50mm diameter earth electrode and
shall be connectedtoearthing stud of the pole. The earth electrode shall be
buried up to a of depth 1.0mbelow ground level
(D) INSPECTION:
The interested bidders shall contact Sr.Manager, Maintenance Dept, HSL for on site
inspection on all working days between 900 to 1700 hours for assessing quantum of
work involved & satisfy themselves prior to submission of bids.
