Where We Work
We now run 36 centres located at 31 districts.
We operate 36 static service centers on Family Planning and Safe Abortion Services in 32
districts which are authorized under Government of Nepal. Meri Saathi Free Helpline was started
three years back with only few numbers of callers who could be counted on fingers. The trained
counselors have been available to discuss a wide range of issues including birth control,
pregnancy options, sexually transmitted infections including HIV & AIDS, and other aspects of
reproductive health. It offers objective information and the support necessary for callers to make
personal and private decisions.
Our Meri Saathi Free Helpline deals with issues of sexual and reproductive health and rights, in
a non-judgmental, compassionate and professional manner so that callers found it easy to talk
openly about their concerns and problems. All Calls to Meri Saathi Free Helpline are
anonymous, completely confidential and 100% free.
Over the time period, it has been observed that the number of callers being increasing day by
day. Most of the young people 15-25 years old are the prime callers for their sexual and
reproductive health concerns. We have our own marketing strategy for promoting Meri Saathi
Free Helpline. The Meri Saathi Free helpline number has been massively promoted through
centers in districts, outreach camps on LARC (long Action Reversible Methods), Sterilization
Camps, Social media, and through four popular Youth Interactive radio program, Khulduli.com
The Meri Saathi Free Helpline recently celebrated its third Anniversary on December, 2014. We
would like to congratulate them for their wonderful effort to reach people in rural areas as well

social marketing
Our social marketing program distributes low cost and free condoms, pills and other
contraceptive and health products through pharmacies, community-based distributors and other
private providers.
Many of our clients live in settings where the health infrastructure is weak and there are simply
not enough health workers.
We try to reach clients through a range of methods. Often we integrate community-based
distribution of products within our outreach and clinics.
Sometimes we use trusted members of the community as a way of delivering health services. We
empower community members to provide information, counselling and low technology primary
healthcare services directly to other members of their community.
Our social marketing program particularly benefits women and men who, for whatever reason,
are unlikely to ever visit a professional healthcare provider. Through social marketing, they can
still access some basic family planning and reproductive health products and services.
In 2012, we provided 2 million people with family planning through our social marketing
channels.
We partner with a range of private healthcare providers through our BlueStar social franchise,
providing ongoing training and equipment in order to expand access to high quality family
planning and safe abortion services.
We call this a total market approach. Through this approach, we expand the choices available to
women and build capacity in a countrys health system. Our approach might range from training
clinicians working in top public hospitals through to franchising of rural pharmacists and
midwives.
Our family planning services include education and provision of various short and long term
contraception methods. These include condoms and the contraceptive pill, to long-acting
methods such as implants and Intra-Uterine Devices (IUDs). We also offer permanent methods of
tubal ligation and vasectomy.
