Jaya Jaya Jagannath,
Dear Laksmi,
Yogada is any planet aspect/ conjoined Janma lagna and Horalagna and/or Gatika lagna. Here Lagna
shows native himself having Raja yoga or sucsess. For example any planet aspect Hora and/ or Gatika
lagna and transfer that power to 5th lord/ house, (instead janma lagna) native would not enjoy, but his Son
would enjoy the results.
I am forwarding you one of our old discussion, please go through it for Hora and Gatika lagna
Thanks,
Karu

The following pieces are extracted from the book I am currently writing. Read
it carefully, go through the example, work out the exercise given and verify
that you get the answer I gave.
Notation: The degree character () may not come properly on some computers.
Also, 6s 17 45' means "advanced by 6 complete signs, 17 degrees and 45
minutes". It stands for 17 deg 45 min in the 7th sign (Libra). Similarly 10s
13 57' stands for 13 deg 57 min in the 11th sign (Aquarius).

Exercise 4:
A lady was born at 3:11:48 am (hr, min, sec) in the early hours of May 28,
1961. Sun was at 131' in Taurus then. Sunrise was at 6:19:18 am on May 27,
1961 at her birthplace. At that time, Sun was at 1211' in Taurus. Find the
longitudes of HL and GL in her chart.

(3) Some people define sunrise as the time when the center of the visual disk
representing Sun rises on the eastern horizon, i.e., the time when lagna and
Sun are exactly at the same longitude. Some other people consider sunrise as
the time when the upper tip of the visual disk representing Sun rises on the
eastern horizon, i.e., the time when the first ray of Sun is seen. I recommend
the latter approach.

Dear Satish,
charts.
Solar return charts are extremely useful for precise short-term timing.
1. What are they and how you calculate them ? Is ther eany software that
claculates them.
A solar day is the duration Sun takes to move by 1 degree. One solar days
can be 25 hours and another can be 23 hours, but the criterion is that Sun
should move by exactly 1 degree. Exactly 360 such days make up a solar year.
These Tajaka charts are based on birthday that comes every year/month based
on this solar day reckoning.
If Sun is at 2339'17" in Taurus in a chart, when he enters 2339'17" in
Taurus every year, a new year will start. If you erect a chart at that time
(for the birthplace), it will give insight into fortune in THAT year. There
are special dasas that can be used. There are special aspects and yogas.
Divisional charts are the same, however.
This system is called Tajaka system. These charts are called varsha chakras
(annual charts). Some people call these charts as "varsha phal", which
actually means "results for the year".
Similarly, whenever Sun reaches 2339'17" in any sign, a new month will
start for that person and we can erect a chart to see the fortune during
that month. Similarly, there are dina (daily) and hora (2.5 days) charts.
About software: I suspect most good commercial programs support the annual
chart. I don't know if they use mean or true position of Sun, however. I
don't know if they support all dasas (Patyayini dasa is terrific). I don't
know if they support monthly, hora and daily charts and associated dasas. I
haven't used any commercial software and hence don't know which software
2. I noticed that for my wife's chart you calculated the solar return
chart. strting at Mat 22, 1998 1:15 AM. Why this starting time ? (My
wife was born May 21 st 2:30 PM. ?
That was when Sun reached the exact position he occupied at her birth.

BTW, Narasimha, are you kindly show how to calculate the Gatika Lagna
as well.
Dear Karu, there are other versions of calculating the Hora lagna, and these are for other purposes. The
correct method is given by parasara and relies at the time of Sunrise (First limb of the Sun). The
following steps are to be used:1) Time (T)= Birth time - Sunrise
2) Convert the minutes & seconds to decimal places.
3) Hora lagna= Lagna + (T x 30 Deg)
4) Ghatika lagna = Lagna + (T x 2.5 x 30 deg)
5) Bhava lagna = Lagna + (T x 0.5 x 30 Deg)
With Best Wishes,
Sanjay Rath.
