Lesson title: Describing people, physically and morally
Type of lesson: vocabulary lesson, revision lesson;
Lesson (main) aims: - to remember some terms previously learned concerning the human body
and concerning attitudes towards the rest of the world;
- to practice the newly acquired vocabulary in various contexts;
- to be able to talk about oneself and about the rest of the world;
Subsidiary aims: - to be able to describe a image ;
- to practice the work in pairs;
- to use ones imagination;
Skills: speaking, reading, writing, listening
Anticipated language problems: Pupils/students could become a bit noisy when working in
pairs/groups; some of them (the dominant ones) may try to answer too often and exclude the
others. In some cases, pupils may not understand the task given by the teacher;
Possible solutions: the teacher may ask pupils simultaneously to speak; He/She may repeat the
task in order to be clear for everybody;
Teaching aids: the manual, a handout, pupils notebooks, the blackboard, a tape recorder, a tape;

Activity 1(ice-breaker stage)


Aim: To familiarize the pupils with the new lesson;
Procedure: First of all the teacher shows her pupils an image taken from a magazine in which a
beautiful girl appears, and then the teacher asks her pupils to the describe the image in Romanian,
and then in English;
Interaction: lockstep

Activity 2
Aim: To remember words that concern the human body and the spiritual part of a human being;
Procedure: As the lesson continues, the teacher draws a picture on the blackboard and asks her
pupils to remember the constituent parts of a human body; then the teacher puts down on the
blackboard the newly observed terms;
Interaction: T-Ss

Activity 3
Aims: To describe some pictures, being able to see the differences between them;
To be able to work with a partner;
Procedure: the teacher asks her pupils to open the manual at page 20 and to analyse the pictures
they find there along with their desk-mates;

Activity 4
Aim: To be able to complete an exercise by listening to a tape;
Procedure: in the following moment, the pupils are solving exercise 2 page 21, individually and
orally;

Activity 5
Aims: To understand a tape in order to complete the task given by the teacher;
Procedure: Students are asked to listen again the tape in order to complete exercise 3 and 4 page
21.

!!! N.B. As homework, pupils have to describe themselves in written. To their description they
have to attach a photograph or they have to draw a picture of themselves.
