Branch Manager – Yumi, Richmond-upon-Thames


(Full time: December 2009 – Part time: February - April 2010)

Whilst studying for my degree, managing a two-floor boutique in Richmond throughout the peak
season and into Spring/Summer, involved:

• Maximising sales throughout the peak Christmas season


• Day-to-day organisation; including staff rotas, time sheets, stock control, staff briefings
• Weekly performance feedback to Head Office
• Solving customer and staff queries
• Continual sales monitoring, setting daily targets and keeping in line with monthly performance
targets
• Training my staff on customer service/till procedures/product knowledge
• Regularly remerchandising the windows and shop floor displays
• Management cashier duties, banking and general cash handling
• Recruitment of new staff
• Conducting staff reviews and monitoring

Branch Manager – Yumi, Tunbridge Wells

As well as the responsibilities I took on in Richmond, my role with Tunbridge Wells Yumi included:

• Preparing, launching and managing a new young fashion store


• Physically setting up and merchandising the store ready for launch
• Promoting and raising awareness of the new branch to the public
• Building customer rapport and a strong reputation for the shop

Working in an upscale independent department score my duties included:

• Providing thorough product knowledge of premium brand products


• Ensuring an excellent level of customer service.
• Supervising my department and staff; organising daily rotas, prioritising and delegating tasks.
• Maximising sales, working to achieve targets and meet deadlines.
• Conducting group training sessions for full-time staff and individual, one-to-one sessions.
• Supervisory cashier duties and cash handling.
• Member of the Induction Team; welcoming, orientating and training new staff.
• Awarded ‘Hoopers Colleague of the year 2007’ for commitment, hard work and ability to work
efficiently in a team.
• Achieved Level 2 NVQ in Retail skills.

KEY SKILLS:

• I am well organised and conscientious, used to balancing projects, such as studying at


University as well as managing a boutique.
• I am extremely hard working and committed, with a strong capacity to get the job done and
meet deadlines.
• I am passionate and enthusiastic with a strong work ethic to always do my best.
• I most enjoy working within a team but work equally well on individual assignments.
• I have a friendly, positive attitude and find that I receive a good response from others when
delegating tasks.
• My people skills are very strong, and I am a very good communicator both when dealing with
the public, and when interacting with colleagues.
