Flux-Cored Arc Welding is a semi-automatic or automatic arc welding process in
which a continuous and consumable tubular electrode containing a flux in the center is fed through a welding gun. Objective of this course is for the student to learn to run root, hot, filler and cap passes on carbon steel plate. Oxygen-acetylene torch cutting will also be covered in this class. No prerequisite required.
Plate GMAW (Mig)
Gas Metal Arc Welding is a semi-automatic or automatic arc welding process in which a continuous and consumable wire electrode and a shielding gas are fed through a welding gun. Objective of this course is for the student to learn to run root, hot, filler and cap passes on carbon steel plate. Oxygen-acetylene torch cutting will also be covered in this class. No prerequisite required.
Plate SMAW (Stick)
Shielded Metal Arc Welding is a manual arc welding process that uses a consumable electrode covered with a flux to lay the weld. Objective of this course is for the student to run a 6010 root , 7018 hot, filler, and cap passes on carbon steel plate. Oxygen-acetylene torch cutting will also be covered in this class. No prerequisite required.
Pipe SMAW (Stick)
Shielded Metal Arc Welding is a manual arc welding process that uses a consumable electrode covered with a flux to lay the weld. Objective of this course is for the student to run a 6010 root pass, 7018 hot, filler, and cap passes on carbon steel pipe. Prerequisite for this class is prior Plate SMAW course or be able to pass a SMAW welding evaluation.
Pipe GTAW (Tig)
Gas Tungsten Arc Welding is a process that uses an external gas supply and non consumable tungsten electrode to produce an arc that melts the filler wire and fuses the metal to be welded. Objective of this course is for the student to learn to run root, hot, filler and cap passes on carbon steel pipe. Prerequisite for this class is prior Plate SMAW, Pipe SMAW course or be able to pass a SMAW evaluation.
Pipeline API 1104
Pipeline construction is used for the transportation of goods or material (oil, refined products or natural gas) through a pipe. SMAW (stick) welding is used running an electrode downhill. Objective of this course is for the student to run a downhill 6010 root, 6010 hot, 7010 fill and cap passes on carbon steel pipe. This course covers pipe in the horizontal (2G), vertical (5G) and branch (saddle) test. Prerequisite for this class is prior Plate SMAW, Pipe SMAW course or be able to pass a SMAW welding evaluation.
Advanced Courses (Stainless Steel and Inconel)
These courses are available in Advanced Metals: Stainless Steel or Inconel on all processes plate or pipe. Prerequisite for this class is prior course in Carbon Steel or be able to pass welding evaluation in choice of Process.
