IMPORTANT NOTE
If you dont already own a software sampler, this Sonik Capsule can be
used as a virtual plug-in for Cubase, Logic, ProTools, Digital Performer,
Sonar and other hosts via the included SampleTank 2 LE virtual
instrument/sample player plug-in.
In order to use these sounds with SampleTank 2 LE, you must first
install SampleTank 2 LE according to the instructions found on the
SampleTank 2 LE CD that came with this Sonik Capsule (separate CD).
After you have successfully installed and authorized your SampleTank 2
LE software, you can then use the UFO installer to install the sound
content for use with SampleTank.

Quick and to the point Instructions

1. Open the UFO installer from the CD (or the downloaded file if you downloaded
the latest install from online)
2. From the UFO window, choose your sampler instrument type(s) by clicking on
their name. When selected the format name will highlight RED
3. Click the glowing red button
4. The UFO will now ask you if youd like to install the Separate Drum Programs.
You have the option here to install the individual drum components for each kit.
Note that answering yes to the Separate Drums install will make the UFO
installation run slightly longer.
If you choose not to install the Separate Drum Programs, you can always
run the UFO again at a later time and reinstall.
5. You will now be prompted to choose where you would like your programs and
samples to be installed. A default option in this step is to have the UFO create a
samples folder in the same directory that you choose to install the programs in.
You can choose any place on your hard drive for the install of the programs and
samples. For users who are installing SampleTank patches ONLY, you will not be
prompted to choose a destination for the samples (this format does not require a
samples folder).
Quick Notes: Kontakt, Reason, Battery and HALion do not require that the
instrument files be placed in any specific place on your hard drive, but EXS24 and
SampleTank do.
SampleTank users who are installing only SampleTank instruments (i.e. No other
formats) should point the programs directory to the STInstruments folder already
created when you installed SampleTank.
EXS24 users who are installing only the EXS24 instruments (i.e. No other
formats) should point the programs directory to the Sampler Instruments folder
already created when you installed Logic/EXS.
If you are going to install the EXS instruments along with other formats it is best
to install the program data into any place on your hard drive that you prefer and
then later create a shortcut (PC) or alias (Mac) of the EXS instruments folder
created by the UFO installer. This shortcut (PC) or alias (Mac) should then be
moved to the Sampler Instruments folder inside your Logic folder.
For more detailed instructions, please read the next section.

Detailed Set of Instructions

1. If the UFO is not already open, launch it by double clicking on the installer
file. Mac users will be taken right to the UFO installer; PC users will have to
click on the Launch UFO button (see image below).

PC users only

2. Once the UFO installer has been opened, you should see this window:

3. You can now choose any sampler instrument format that you would like to
install on your computer. To do this, click on at least one sampler format
name. The name or names will highlight red to indicate that its format will be
installed. Once you have made your selection (or selections), click the large
red button to proceed.

In this example Just SampleTank Instruments would be installed

4. You now need to tell the UFO where to install the program files and samples.
All possible scenarios are listed below.
SAMPLETANK - If you are choosing to install ONLY SampleTank, as in the example
above, all you need to do is select the STInstruments folder that was created when you
installed SampleTank. (Unless moved, this folder usually resides in your SampleTank 2
application folder on your hard drive)

SAMPLETANK AND OTHER If you are installing another sampler instrument type in
addition to your SampleTank instruments, it is advised that you choose a program and
sample destination on your hard drive other then the STInstrumetns folder. When the
installation is complete and you get the message stating, The UFO has landed, it is then
safe to move your newly created SD SampleTank Programs folder into your
STInstrumetns folder.

SAMPLETANK AND OTHER (continued) Once your done installing and you have
ensured that the newly created SD SampleTank Programs folder is in your
STInstrumetns folder, you can now open up SampleTank in your host application.
Simply hitting the RELIST button will reveal your new Capsule programs
in the interface.

EXS 24 If you are installing the Studio Drums Drum Capsule for the EXS-24 ONLY,
its programs should be located in the Sampler Instruments folder, which resides within
the Logic Audio program folder. Browse to this folder and select it for your programs.
You may install your samples wherever youd like. Allow the UFO to perform its
installation in full. Open the EXS24 and use its patch browser to navigate to the newly
installed Capsule patches. Load the patches as desired.
EXS 24 AND OTHER - If you are going to install the EXS instruments along with other
formats it is best to install the program data into any place on your hard drive that you
prefer and then later create a shortcut (PC) or alias (Mac) of the GC EXS-24 Program
folder created by the UFO installer. This shortcut (PC) or alias (Mac) should then be
moved to the Sampler Instruments folder inside your Logic folder.
*To create a shortcut under WINDOWS, right click the SD EXS-24 Programs folder and choose
the option to Create Shortcut. A new shortcut is created in this directory.
*To create a shortcut under Macs OS X, right click (ctrl click) the SD EXS-24 Programs folder
and choose the option to Make Alias. A new shortcut is created in this directory.

KONTAKT, REASON NN_XT, HALion or BATTERY- These 4 formats have no

restrictions as to where the program data or samples have to be installed. Allow the UFO
to perform its installation in full. Open your host application and use its patch browser to
navigate to the newly installed Drums Drum Capsule patches. Load the patches as
desired.

Studio Drums Capsule specific information:

Kits:
The Studio Drum Capsule contains two mapping formats for all of its drum kits,
iMap and GM.
1. iMap kits:

2. GM Kits: These kits are laid out in the GM standard so that they can be easily
implemented into any GM drum arrangement, complying with the GM
mapping scheme.

SepDrums:
(If selected on UFO Install): The SepDrums Programs are individual kit
elements that can be loaded independently or layered to let the user construct his
own custom drum kits. These are broken down into the following elements:
Kicks
Snares
Cymbals
Hats
Toms
Rides
Each Kit from the above mentioned Kit Programs has corresponding
SepDrums programs. So if the user loads a GM Kit, for example, and wants to
find the Snares alone in theyre own program, he/she can simply go to the
SepDrums GM folder, and find the GM Snares subfolder, and then load the
appropriate Snare program into the sampler.
This allows the user to load, stack and tweak the individual drum kit elements in
his or her sampler to taste. This also allows the user to create Custom Kits in
either the iMap or GM format with elements from different kits layered together.
