I. Hypothesis Testing (z- test and t- test)
1. Body temperatures were obtained from a sample of 36 identical crabs exposed to air at 26.2C.
Test the hypothesis that the mean body temperature of this species of crab under this condition
exceeds 26.2C if the sample had a mean temperature of 26.5C with a standard deviation of
0.7C at 0.05 level of significance.
2. A random sample of 40 boys showed a mean weight of 120 lbs. with a standard deviation of 12 lbs. The
standard weight of their average age is about 130 lbs. Test the hypothesis that the selected boys are
significantly lighter than the standard weight at 0.01 level of significance.

3. 50 smokers were questioned about the number of hours they sleep each day. We want
to test the hypothesis that the smokers need less sleep than the general public which
needs an average of 7.7 hours of sleep if the sample mean is 7.5 and the population
standard deviation is 0.5 at 0.05 level of significance
II. Write the table for testing in z-test /t-test (formula)
