Every20years,JupiterandSaturnconjoinintheheavensandmarkthebeginningofanewcultural,
political,andeconomicera.ThesealignmentshavehistoricallybeendescribedasGrand
ConjunctionsorRoyalConjunctions.Worldleaderselectedaspresidentsorprimeministersduring
thiscycleoftenhaveexactconjunctionsbetweentheirnativitiesandthedegreesoftheplanetsor
anglesfoundintheseonceeverytwodecadesmundanehoroscopes.TheGrandConjunctionofMay
2000,theoriginhoroscopeofourpresentcycle,isshownherecastfortheUnitedStates:

ThepresenteconomicerausheredinatthelastGrandConjunctionstartedwiththeburstingofthe
dot.comtechnologybubblewhentheNASDAQstockmarketcrashedinthespringof2000.Thatwas
followedbyunsustainablerealestatespeculationthatultimatelypeakedattheprogressedretrograde
stationoftheU.S.Mars,ruleroftheSiblyIC,inJuly2006.Sincethen,aglobaleconomiccrisishas
broughtabouttheGreatRecession,commencingwiththeJupiterPlutoconjunctionofDecember
2007.
Attheoppositionaspectwithinthis20yearcycle,worldeventsreachtheirclimax,andglobalchange
occursonalargescale.TheGrandConjunctioncyclebeguninMay2000reachesitsthreeoppositions
betweenMay2010andMarch2011.Thisperiodwillmarktheturningpointofthecurrentglobal
economiccrisis,andwillalsoproducebreakthroughsininternationalpoliticalstalemates.Thefirst
oppositionoccurswithJupiterdignifiedandinthedegreeofVenussexaltation,27Pisces.

Arguably,theonebreakthroughthattheworldmostneedsatthistimeisfortheseeminglyintractable
politicalstalematebetweenIsraelandthePalestinianstobecomeresolvedthroughatwostate
solution.ThiswouldinvolvethedismantlingoftheJewishsettlementsintheWestBank,thereturnof
Palestinianrefugees,thedivisionofJerusalem,andtheremovalofthesecurityfencethatseparates
occupiedareasintheWestBank,thuspreventingacontiguousnationofPalestine.

Canhistoryrepeatitself?InSeptember1989,atthefirstoffiveJupiterSaturnoppositions,13,000
EastGermantouristsescapedfromHungarytoAustria.Thisledtoasequenceofeventsoverthenext
twomonths,startingwithmassiveprotestdemonstrationsinEastGermanyandculminatingwiththe
falloftheBerlinWallinNovember.Whathistoricalparallelcouldonepredictfor2010?
Lastweek,U.S.VicePresidentJoeBidentraveledtotheMiddleEasttomeetwithIsraelandthe
Palestiniansinanattempttorevivethestalledpeaceprocess.HeandtheUnitedStateswere
subsequentlyhumiliatedbyIsrael,whoonthedayofhisarrival,madeanannouncementof1,600new
housingunitstobebuiltinpredominantlyArabEastJerusalem.

BothSecretaryofStateHillaryClintonandPresidentObamahaveissuedsternwarningstoIsrael,
duringthelastfewdays,essentiallygivingPrimeMinisterBenjaminNetanyahuanultimatumanda
listofdemandswithwhichtheU.S.expectsIsraeltofullycomply.Thecontinuationofthissequence
ofeventscouldleadtothedestabilizationofIsraelsinternalpolitics,withitsgoverningcoalition
likelytosplinterovertensionsbetweenthehardlinerightwingpartieslikeYisraelBeiteinuandShas,
andtheLikudpartyofwhichMr.Netanyahuistheleader.ThispoliticalinstabilitywithinIsraelis
clearlyseenbyUranusconjoiningtheMC,whentheJupiterSaturnoppositioniscastforJerusalem,
asshowninthechartabove.
Thispoliticalinstabilitymightnotbeabadthingifitcomestopass.TheMiddleEastpeaceprocess
hasbeenstuckwithnoprogressforsomanyyearsthatoneisleftprayingforalightningstrikefrom
heaventoradicallytransformthelandscapeandproduceasuddenandunexpectedbreakthrough.Is
thereanyevidencethatthiscanoccurduringthenextyearwhilethethreeJupiterSaturnoppositions
form?
In1967,duringtheSixDayWarbetweenIsraelandtheArabnations,theIsraeliprogressedVenus
stationedretrograde.InDecemberof2010,thisprogressedVenuswillfinallystationdirect.Onecan
seehowitwillhavetaken43yearsforsolutionstobefoundregardingtheoccupiedterritories,the
divisionofJerusalem,thereturnofrefugees,andalloftheotherdifficultissues.Oneobservesthatthe
progresseddirectstationoftheIsraeliruler,Venus,in24ofGeminiisexactlyconjoiningthenational
Uranus.Thismeansthatsudden,chaotic,andunexpectedeventsarecoming.
IsraelsbiggestworryistheirongoingthreatfromIran.Itiscauseforconcernthat,intheJupiter
SaturnoppositionhoroscopecastforJerusalem,29VirgoisontheICtheexactdegreeofIsraels
progressedMars.[1]Onecouldinterpretthisasviolenceinthehomeland,shouldinternalpolitical
instabilitydegradethecohesionofIsraelsmilitary.TheHaaretznewspaperinIsraelhasreported:
HighrankingofficialsinWashingtonbelievethattighteningthetermsforasettlementconstruction
freezeintheWestBankandthedismantlingofoutpostscouldleadtoadeepriftwithinIsraelisociety,
orevenamutinywithinitsmilitary.[2]
ApossibleunexpectedoutcomeforIsrael,radicalasitmaysound,wouldbeaRonaldReaganatthe
BrandenburgGatemoment:Mr.Gorbachev,teardownthiswall!Thistimearound,President
ObamawouldsaytoPrimeMinisterNetanyahu,Teardownthissecurityfence!
GlobaleventsthatoccurredduringthelastseriesofJupiterSaturnoppositionsfrom1989to1991are
compellingevidencethatthenexttwelvemonthswillbringsignificantchange.Whetherthesechanges
willbeforthegood,orwillbedestructive,canbepredictedbytheconditionoftheopposingplanets
intheGrandConjunctioncycle.Jupiter,theGreaterBenefic,isdignifiedandintheexaltationdegree
oftheLesserBenefic,i.e.,Venusat27Pisces.Thus,JupiterisstrongerthanSaturn,sothechanges
willbepositive.
AstrologerscanrecallthehundredsofthousandsofEastGermansstreamingintoWestGermanyand
celebratingthefalloftheBerlinWall.IfwecasttheJupiterSaturnoppositionofSeptember10,1989
forBerlin,949Aquariusrises.Remarkably,fromCharubelforAquarius10,wefind:

ConjunctionsofJupiterandSaturnrecurinthesameelementforabouttwocenturies.(TheGrand
Conjunctionsbegantooccurinearthsignsin1802.)Atransitionalconjunction(ortwo)takesplacein
thesucceedingelementjustpriortotheendofthis200yearelementalsubcycle.(The198081Grand
ConjunctionswereintheairsignofLibra.)Thelastconjunctioninthissubcyclesearthelement
occurredin2000.(Thelastearthsubcyclepreviouslyconcludedin1206.)
TheGrandConjunctionswillnowfallintheairelementforthenexttwocenturies,withtheJupiter
SaturnconjunctionofDecember21,2020takingplaceat029Aquarius.Itisnosmallcoincidence
thatBarackObamasnatalJupiterisinthatexactdegreeitshowstheastrologerhowhebecamea
channelforourhopesforabetterfuture.
AsequenceofhistoricaldevelopmentcanbeshowntocorrespondwiththeGrandConjunctions
cyclingthroughthefourelementsevery800years.Whentherearefireelementconjunctions,the
worldexperiencesglobalexploration,conquest,anddiscovery,alongwithindependencemovements.
Theseconjunctionsrecurredinthefiresignsin1603and1623,thenfrom1663to1782,andin1821.
WhenJupiterandSaturnconjoinintheearthelement,societalinfrastructureevolvesgloballyand
thereissubstantialwealthcreation,alongwithextensivelandsettlementandterritorialdisputes.

GrandConjunctionsintheairelementhistoricallycorrespondwithrapidsocialprogress,significant
intellectualdevelopment,andnewconceptsenteringintohumanconsciousness.Theseconjunctions
recurredintheairsignsin1186,thenfrom1226to1345,andagainin1385andin1405.
JupiterandSaturnconjoininginthewaterelementhasresultedinartisticflourishing,theformationof
spiritualmovements,andsocietalassimilationonalargescale.Theseconjunctionsrecurredinthe
watersignsin1365,thenfrom1425to1583,andin1643.ThisperiodencompassedtheRenaissance.
ItisthoughtthattheJupiterSaturn800yearhistoricalcyclecommenceswithaGrandConjunction
takingplacenearesttotheAriesPoint.Forourhistoricalera,thisoccurredinMay1702.
Thismundanehoroscopecanbesaidtorevealtheconditionsofhumandevelopmentoveraneight
centuryperiodofhistory.WhencastingtheAriesPointGrandConjunctionforWashington,D.C.,we
find22Librarising,whichistheexaltationdegreeofSaturn.AtightlyorbedCardinalTCrossisalso
found,consistingofanapexVenusindetrimentinAriesandanexaltedMarsinCapricornopposedby
Uranus.CouldtheglobaleconomiccrisisprecipitatedbyAmericasrealestatebustanditstoxic
mortgageassetshavebeenpredictedthreecenturiesagobyconsultingthishoroscope?Yes,andhere
iswhy:
Libra22,therisingdegree,fromSepharialstranslationofLaVolasfera:
Amanasleepbythesideofsomemoneybags.
Itdenotesapersonoflittlevigilance:muchgiventoselfindulgence:wantingeitherinsenseofduty,

Remarkably,theU.S.progressedVenusiscurrentlypassingthrough19Aries,thedegreeoftheapex
VenusintheCardinalTCrossofthe1702AriesPointGrandConjunction(fromSeptember19,2009
untilAugust8,2010).Itcanbepredictedthatthis11monthperiodwillbetheworstoftherecession
