thediskisexpectedtoburst.Thisissometimescalledthecoincidenttemperature.
Vesselinformationimmediatelyavailabletotheinspectoristhevesselnameplatepossiblythedatareport.Bothprovidethe
MAWPanddesigntemperature.Minimumdesignmetaltemperature(MDMT)isalsolisted.

Problemsoccurwhenspecifyingthedisktemperature.Oftenthevesselsdesigntemperatureisused.Inmostcases,
coincidenttemperature(temperaturethatshouldbeused),isnotthesameasthevesseldesigntemperature,andshouldin
factbelessthanthedesigntemperature.Mostrupturediskmaterialsaresensitivetotemperature(theburstpressurewill
typicallydecreaseastemperatureincreases).

Whendiskmanufacturersqualifyadisklot,theyusespecifiedcoincidenttemperature(giventothembycustomers)asthe

Sowhatisthepropertemperaturetouseforcoincidenttemperature?Thenextchoiceisusuallynormalprocesstemperature.
However,upsetconditionsandnormaloperationconditionsneedtobeconsidered.Inchemicalprocessing,anoverpressure
conditioncanbecausedbyarunawaychemicalreaction,inwhichcasecoincidenttemperaturecouldbehigherthanthe

Anotherproblemoccurswhenthemanufacturingdesignrange(MDR)isnotconsideredduringorderingofthedisks.The
codedefinitionofMDRisarangeofpressurewithinwhichthemarkedburstpressuremustfalltobeacceptablefora
