Safety Precautions
PROPER GROUNDING
Ensure the effectiveness of the construction of the grounding system
before powering up the WiBAS equipment at the Base Station.
In case of inappropriate grounding system, there is risk of equipment failure and/
or electrical shock.
Ensure that the outdoor grounding system measures a path resistance of < 3 .

Outdoor
grounding
system
Coaxial cables
The coaxial cables, connecting the indoor units with the outdoor BRB boxes,
should be of coaxial 75-ohm type.
The maximum length of these cables depends on their quality and the
degradation that they impose to the IF signal.
Typical lengths are 145 m, using low-loss coaxial cable (RG-11)
NOTE
Proximity to
GSM (2G / 3G)
installations
GSM Cables:
The WiBAS coaxial cables must be spaced from neighboring GSM cables
and antennas for at least 30cm. This guideline mainly refers to the RG-6
cable, of which the screening effectiveness may severely be deteriorated if
not properly rolled out. Therefore, the use of RG-11 type is highly
recommended.
As a general rule, the close proximity with the GSM cables should be
avoided (wherever this is possible). The more distance the WiBAS cables
are running in parallel with the GSM cables, the higher the amount of
interference that will be collected.
The cable must be in good condition, without any visible breakings or
deterioration and properly terminated, as instructed in this manual.
Also, extra care must be taken during the cable unrolling from the bin, as
accidental twists may affect cables performance.
GSM Antennas:
When WiBAS and GSM equipment is to be collocated, BRB must be
installed on the same pole / mast, below or above the neighboring GSM
antennas and at a distance no less than 4 m.
If a different pole / mast is the only option, then the BRB should be installed
in such a way that it is located outside the -20 dB radiation pattern of all
neighboring 2G / 3G antennas, with a minimum horizontal distance of 4 m
between the pole (where the BRB and the BRA are installed) and the poles
accommodating GSM antennas.

Tightening
torques
The following table gives the maximum tightening torques that must be
applied for a safe and secure BRB installation:
Exceeding these values may result in breakages or damages to
equipment. If possible, use appropriate tools of adjustable
tightening torque, especially for points 3, 5 & 6.

Introduction
The mounting bracket (supplied) is used for supporting one standalone BRB
radio box, on a wall or mast. This bracket is installed first, prior to the
installation of the BRB.

Comments
Standalone BRB.
27
Preparation
The mounting bracket should coarsely point toward the right direction before
it is fixed on the pole/ mast. This ensures that no re-installation of the
mounting bracket will be needed.
An appropriate method is to install the mounting bracket so that its cantilever
(1) is perpendicular to the supporting plate (2) and is also pointing toward
the center of the azimuth angle of the respective geographical sector, as
shown below:

installed back-to-back (BRB #1 / BRB #3 and BRB #2 / BRB #4) to occupy
minimum height on the pole / mast, and when space is at a premium.

The BRA antenna should be located on the same pole with the BRB box.
The latter should be spaced from the BRA no more than 1.20m and should
always have a Minimum Bend Radius (MBR) of 30mm.
Introduction
This section concerns the installation of the terminated cables, coaxial and
BRB BRA interconnection cables, onto the BRB.

Tightly apply sufficient length of tape.
46
Step
Action
Use the rubber-tape (see Tools, Kits & Accessories page 16 item

This procedure concerns the fastening of cables when BRB and BRA are
installed on a pole / mast.
Procedure
Step
Action
Neatly arrange the coaxial cable (1), the grounding cable (2) and
the BRB-BRA interconnection cable (3) as shown below, always
maintaining a safe radius for the coaxial cable during
bending:
