USING COMPOSITE DASHA SYSTEMS IN Jyotish

Gary Gomes
In Jyotish it is known there is a wide variety of methods that can be used for predictive
purposes.Including dasa system attributed Jaimini-astrology (which some consider part of Parasara,
others consider a separate system of astrology), there are approximately one hundred mahadasha
jyotisha systems. Some of the well-known predictive dasa systems: the most famous Vimsottari dasa
(often mistakenly referred to as the newcomers just dasa system);Yogini dasa, the cycle is repeated
every thirty-six years;Jaimini Chara dasa ("hopping"), relatively easy to calculate, based on the signs
mahadasha system used to Jaimini-padas and Karak;and Kalachakra Dasa, based on the signs of the
system that Parasara considered the most accurate.
All of these systems, however, have limitations. There are contradictions on nearly every level of the
correct interpretation: discrepancies concerning the number of days in a year, on the methods of
calculating the duration or sequence of dasa systems.(In theory, so-called "Jaimini" -dasha recently
appeared deep contradictions and heated debate broke out between representatives of different
schools of Hindu Jyotish.) Even in the Kalachakra dasa system, there is a discrepancy, South Indian
and North Indian traditional methods should be used for calculations and interpretations .And in
between there are huge differences.
Because of the controversy, even in small things, I often encourage my fellow astrologers and
students to use the simpler Jyotish dasa and other predictive techniques. While there, like, a strong
controversy about the use of, for example, a planetary terms "maturity" or some of the methods of
Bhrigu progression - perhaps because not many astrologers have investigated these things.
I'm sure that will inevitably, as we study these little-known areas of Jyotish We will see differences
regarding their use and settlement.Whenever we get a greater knowledge of some of the less
accurate or reliable systems are discarded or modified ... but Jyotish - one of the areas that seems
endless, so do not think that the debate here soon subside.
Predictive system, on which I would like to focus now - the two lesser known dasa (Karaka and
naisargika-dasa), a well-known dasa (yoginis) and two types of progression (Sudarshana- "Dasha" and
the method of Bhrigu). One of the reasons that I find attractive the system - the fact that they are
easy to understand, work well, and is non-controversial, which are surrounded by other dasa systems.
Simple dasa system, at least give us the right direction, sometimes quite stunning results.
Karaka dasa - a systemthat uses Jaimini-Karak to find the terms of the sequence of events;very
easily calculated and interpreted.
To calculate mahadasha, start with ascendant location and considered Karakas.
Using my own birth chart as an example (October 1, 1952; 8:29, EST; Fall River,
Massachusetts).Libra ascendant.Mars -tmakrakaand is in Scorpio.Jupiter -amatyakaraka in
Aries;Saturn -bhatri karaka in Virgo;Mercury -Matri-Karak , in Virgo;Luna -Putra / Petrie
karakain Aquarius;Sun -Chasing karakain Virgo;Venus -Gift orstri-Karak .Note that I exclude
Rahu respectively, my school, and because it does not change the execution sequence of calculations
of this particular dasa-cycle because of the position of Rahu in my map.Rahu, roughly at 27 degrees
of Capricorn would be my lowest degrees of the planet, and therefore the last in this scheme,

according to the Karak Brihat Parasara Hora Sastra.

The sequence of operations counting Karaka dasa is very simple. The cycle begins with tmakraka
Dasha, Dasha then continues amatya Karak, and so on, up to the gift of Karak.
dasa sequence repeats at first when eliminated all periods of Karak.Calculate the duration of just
Dasha - from lagna position to Karakas (not counting the sign at which you start). If Karaka in the
ascendant, it Dasha believe in twelve years.
Dasha sequence for my next birthday card:
Mars (the number of characters from Libra to Scorpio) - 1. Dasha gives prodlzhalsya from
1952 to 1953.
Jupiter (from Aries to Libra) - provides 6 Dasha 1953-1959.
Saturn (from Libra to Virgo) - 11. Dasha 1959-1970 .
Mercury (from Libra to Virgo) 11 Dasha 1970-1981.
Luna (from Libra to Aquarius) 4. Dasha prodlzhalsya from 1981 to 1985.
The Sun (from Libra to Virgo) 11 Dasha 1985-1996.
Venus (from Libra to Libra) 12. Dasha from 1996 to 2008.
Rahu (if applicable) (from Libra to Capricorn) 3. Dasha 2008-2011.
Sequence antardasa translated BPHS by GS Kapoor is not specified, but you can take it in the same
way as in the Vimsottari dasa. Thus, the sequence in antardasa mahadasha Jupiter, for example, would
be - Jupiter, Saturn, Mercury, Moon, Sun, Venus, (Rahu - if used), Mars, etc.General sequence
mahadasha, in my view, consistent with the details of my life, especially when you consider the time
constraints, which began in 1985. In that year, according to these Jaimini karaka mahadasha
calculations, Fish (sixth house) brought a lot of struggle, loss;but also showed the beginning of my
studies in astrology and my serious devotion to the spiritual disciplines. And please, if you try to use
any mahadasha system, try it first directly on himself. And not just to satisfy his own ego.Usually, a
person is most familiar with their own lives; You can understand how your life affects the sequence
mahadasha whether it according to your life pleasant or difficult at a time - it gives you a framework
to analyze such a system mahadasha other maps.
Naisargika (Fixed) Dasa
This dasa system - really very simple, based on planetary "maturity" used in Jyotish.
According to her, Jupiter is fully manifested in the sixteenth year of birth; The sun reaches its life
in the 21st year;Luna 24-m;Venus in the 25th;Mars in the 28th year of life;Mercury 33 m;Saturn
in the 34th - 36th respectively;Rahu in the 42 th year;and Ketu in the 48th year.
"Natural" mahadasha system Brihat Jataka
There is another "fixed" mahadasha system that is mentioned in one of the most highly respected
among the astrological texts - Brihat Jataka Varahamihira.Although I am not in a crazy excited
about this text, as some of my teachers still find parts simply brilliant.Head of drekkanah absolutely
charming and provides a basis for many activities, good Jyotish astrology.
There are a couple of dasa systems described Brihat Jataka, the more they are not mentioned in any
of the text, which in itself is a very rare phenomenon.
One of them starts to cycle from the strongest between Lagna, the Sun and the Moon.Sub-period
determined by the distance of the planets from the manager mahadasha more confusing, but this

method is worthy of further study.

Dasha system, which I would like to show, very easy to build and has a lot to do with Naisargika dasa
(see. above). It is called "natural dasa" Varahamihira:
The first year of life ruled by the Moon,
the second to the third year of life is ruled by Mars,
the fourth to the twelfth year is ruled by Mercury,
the next twenty years - from thirteen to thirty-two - is ruled by Venus,
thirty-third to fifty ruled by Jupiter;
Fifty-first to seventy - Sun;
Seventy-First 120 years ruled by Saturn;and
After a period of 120 years, dominates Dasha ascendant.
In Brihat Jataka no "write" the rules for calculating the sub-periods, but you can guess that the
sequence is similar to the established and Vimsottari Yogini dasa systems.
Using a complex system marked another dasa system Brihat Jataka, it would be unnatural here.
So, for example, during Jupiter dasa sequence of sub-periods should start with Jupiter, go to the
Sun, then Saturn, then the Moon, Mars, Mercury and Venus. This may explain why the middle of the
fourth decade (plus or minus 35), the usual time of personal expansion, socially significant activities,
etc.
The period of Venus at the end mahadasha Jupiter also explains why for some forty-five, plus or
minus, becomes time pursuit of high status, "Porsche", personal development, and for some, divorce.
Also note the amount of mahadasha Saturn proportional to the length of his sub-periods.
To interpret this dasa system Brihat Jataka indicates that if the host is in the ascendant sub-period,
in a friendly sign, favorably located in drekkana-Varga or Navamsa, or if it is in the third, sixth, 10th
and 11th from the planet-ruler mahadasha, it gives good results. With minor variations, this is similar
to a method of estimating the favorability of sub-periods when using Vimsottari-dasa.
Brihat Jataka also gives a list of the types of events that will occur during the period under
consideration of the planet.Again, they are not much different from the values in Brihat Parasara
Hora Sastra.
Furthermore, given the principle of interpreting including transit Moon.
If the Moon is at the beginning of sub-period takes its own sign, it will contribute to the
recognition, wealth and comfort.
If you take the sign of Mars, it indicates a certain lack (defect) in the wife.
If any sign of Mercury, it indicates the acquisition of friends, education and wealth.
If Leo, it indicates some (such as, agriculture-related) activities in forests, forest jungle
("Jungle") and "roadside".
If the sign of Venus, indicating profits of grain.
If in Capricorn or Aquarius, it indicates bad wife.
When Sagittarius and Pisces, indicating the acquisition of fame, wealth and comfort.
Note: Here's a literal translation from Sanskrit;it should be understood that the bad "wife" mean
and business partners as well as spouses and male.

Most graha-mahadasha systems, Moon - the main part of "descender" karma. This is clearly seen
here. Some rules of interpretation can be applied to other mahadasha systems (such Vimsottari) to
assess the main and sub-periods.
The advantage of using a system of fixed mahadasha that they are very easy to remember and
calculate. The apparent weakness is the superficial impression that these dasa too impersonal, "easy"
settings given by Vimsottari or Yogini systems.
However, these dasa systems are useful though that make clear: in spite of the different planetary
placements and interference in the individual birth chart in Socially, we play some roles that are
associated with our biological age.
Compression Dasha
Dasha One of the variations, the disclosure of which is rare - compressed Dasha.A well-known
example of the use - Muddy dasa in Varshaphal or solar return. There's usually a few Vimsottari dasa
modified and compressed to the year, the basis for the calculation - the position of the Moon in the
map Varshaphal. However, I found that "unregulated" Muddy dasa works very well.I also
experimented with compressed Yogini and Chara dasa (I use them for astrological predictions that I
write each month) and got them good results.
Although it is impossible due to the limitations publications explaining how to calculate these modified
traditional compressed Dasha, even some computer the program is considered a choice (for example
"Shri Jyothi") compression in a year or month. Therefore, I am sure, if you wish you can, using a
pencil and a calculator, "to cut" any dasa in proportion to the desired length of time.
Sometimes manual calculations - is a good practice that will help get a better feel dasa system that is
completely inexplicable to me, but the experience I he survived.
Interpretation Chara dasha is quite difficult, so we will not talk about it now (I wrote about this in
other essays) and Yogini is actually quite simple.Just analyze the placement of the planets in the
house and issues that controls the planet. For example, Jupiter in the tenth house.According to the
theory Yogini dasa mahadasha Jupiter will focus on the human career, coupled with Jupiter - training,
good advice, guidance. It is simple and consistent with Vimsottari. For comparison, I often noticed a
striking predictive accuracy Yogini Mahadasha, sometimes exceeding Vimsottari.
Sudarshan Chakra Dasha
I'm sure most readers know Sudarshan Chakra and what it means, but still remind Sudarshan essentially three separate cards for each other;birthday card from lagna is in the middle, the next
card from the moon, and the last of the sun.Sudarshan - the name of the disk (weapons) of Vishnu,
and this form of birthday cards filled with very informative;immediately see the house associated
with intense activity. For example the one with the empty tenth, may eventually have three or four
planets in the tenth of the moon or the sun. This type of analysis can show the details of power or
activity of homes that are not visible in normal birth chart.
How to determine the time of this activity? With the help of Sudarshan dasa.It is almost
ridiculously easy to calculate. In the first year of life, the first house - the first dasa who
prodlzhaetsya to 2 years;Dasha then begins a second home.It continues to twelve when all dasa
passed;and again begins the first house dasa.Subperiods also easy to calculate.Start cycle with
annual dasa dasa annual house. For example, in the 24th year going to Dasha twelfth house;the first
birth month sub-period would be the 12th house;in the second month - the first house;the third -

the second sub-period of the house. It's very simple.

Dasha gives the color of the corresponding year, or month. This can be considered manually, even in
the mind, and it can give excellent results, especially if you want to see the center of life of a person
during the year and the beneficial or detrimental effects (of the planet) operating during the year /
month.
Bhrigu Progressions
The last area I want to mention - a relatively specialized area of Jyotish called Bhrigu progression.
There are differences in the interpretation of the planets and Bhrigu Parasara-traditions.For
example, Mercury is Bhrigu Significator earth and Mars - Karaka wife (!).Venus - Karaka wealth gives
prosperity to the friendly aspect with planets - Saturn, Mercury or Rahu.Jupiter, the significator of
life, can give accidents when struck by Ketu or Mars.
Bhrigu progressions work on three levels: the first level is like mahadasha. This is the most important
level, thirty degrees are twelve years old, or 2 degrees 30 minutes per year.Event time is
determined by the exact conjunction, opposition or trine progressive planet to planet-Karak.
The idea of working with the progress can be somewhat uncomfortable for those who worked with
Jyotish is still not aware of this predictive method Bhrigu Muni and progression referring to a purely
Western forecasting methods.
New ways of interpreting Vimsottari Mahadasha
Dear Vedic astrologer Narendra Desai gave the foundation for this technique in his essay Lessons in
Hindu astrology Richard Hawke. Some parallels can be found in the Web publishing Narasimha Rao,
published studies, Dr. Krishnan and is consistent with the author's own observations made over the
years with Varg.First of all, start the analysis cycle Vimsottari dasa mahadasha current
definition. For example, take mahadasha sun. This six-year period.Divide the Dasha time into twelve
equal parts. Then look at the sign in which the owner mahadasha located;take the Sun in
Aries.During the first six months mahadasha Sun will be in the sign of Aries bhukti. The second subperiod of six months will be the sign Taurus, and so on.You define in a progressive mahadasha good or
bad results, based on the principles of progression of the planets through the signs and houses.Ruling
Planet mahadasha show good results when progressing through your own house or exaltation, the
problem will progress through the sign of falling.
Then consider power houses in Sarvashtake: good results will be maximized and minimized the
influence of evil, when the planet progresses through a strong house (25 points or more);fewer
points - less efficient house. Also evaluate the results of Dasha, when the sun progressing through the
house, which is occupied by the planet.
Then study navamsa. The movement of the planets through the signs in this dasa system gives some
of the results and in accordance with the situation in navamsa. Then see Varga (harmonic maps). If
you want to see the problems of career, look at the planet through a progression of signs
dasamshu;children's issues through saptamshu;etc. All that you need - this is a small change
Vimsottari dasa system. It will bring together the elements that are present in all Jyotish-calculation
and you will find that by acting so considering horoscope totally holistic way; This method synthesizes
three simple method - Ashtakavarga Varga and modified type Vimsottari-dasa.
As always, I invite all serious students of astrology refer to prevoistochnikam referred to in the
text, and make your own opinion on the issues discussed here.I hope that this publication will hurt
your curiosity and help you to learn some aspects of Vedic astrology.
