MANAGEMENT OF CHANGES IN DRAWINGS

13

1. INTRODUCTION
The objective of systematically indicating information related to materials and treatments in the
drawings is as follows:
- avoid uncontrolled changes in materials and/or treatments that may have consequences on the
overall quality of the parts, but also on any disputes arising from fuzzy definitions and legal aspects.
- Provide GFE and GFS a DIMat drawing approval. This approval gives the opinion of each DIMat core
competency affected by the drawing (recycling, organic materials, anticorrosion protection,
depollution)
- Provide a DIMat approval to project and series life actors for the following 2 points:
The DIMat approval represents the opinion on:
. Product / process / design appropriateness:
- Consistency with the technical specifications of parts or a set of parts,
- Compliance of the designation of materials and coatings (see & 2.).
- Compliance with standards
The index of the reference documents shall be indicated in the drawing.
* 00-10-050 Prohibited or restricted substances lists and declaration modalities associated
with the substance declaration tables (MDS* in EVA or VAL status) archived in GDG
* 00-10-060 Design for recycling for target parts in the recycling sector.
* ISO 11469, 1043 parts 1 and 2, 1629 and 18064 related to the marking of polymer and
elastomer parts.

That is why DIMat Approval applies only to a limited number of parts while focussing on those with
such a level of criticality that the DIMat opinion contributes to limiting quality and regulatory risks of the
concerned parts while guaranteeing a high level of expertise (see 2).
Remarks:
It may be recalled that the DIMat Approval gives an opinion on product / process / design
appropriateness, but does not in any case presume on the result of the validations.
It is also specified that the information contained in IMDS relates to substances and that the
information in the drawing relates to materials.
These requests are complementary; under no circumstances may the IMDS sheet substitute
the information to be indicated in the drawing.
1.1.

SCOPE

The Standard 01-00-510 applies to all DIV, DIM and IDVU vehicle projects or components from the
time of its official release. Only drawings in the target list shall be submitted for DIMat approval to the
appropriate signatory core competency (see section 5.1).

DRAWING UP THE DIMAT TARGET LIST (EXCLUDING RECYCLING) OF DRAWINGS

SUBJECTED TO APPROVAL.
The target list of drawing subjected to DIMat Approval is drawn up for all IV, IM and iDVU projects.
This list is made by the DIMat for each project in consultation with the BE based on:
- Recycling target parts defined by the vehicle's Recycling PPC (see 00-10-060)
- All drawings of impregnated monoliths.
- All TYPE DRAWINGS
- Risky parts identified based on the following 5 criteria:
- 1. New part function or technology
- 2. Function whose technology is sensitive, or leads to recurrent problems
- 3. New equipment manufacturer, or equipment manufacturer deemed risky
- 4. New material or chemist
- 5. New toolmaker, or tool designer
-

Parts, which though have not been defined as risky parts by the above criteria, are nevertheless
considered critical with respect to quality or regulation (like branded parts).
3.1 CASE OF INNOVATIONS:

- Innovations (part unknown at RENAULT) will not be in the list per se, but systematically require a
DIMat signature
Example: Process for detecting innovations Operational system of reference 72-13-403 "Risk
management and identification of innovative systems by DAISI" for listing the innovations.
3.2 WHERE IS TARGET LIST (EXCLUDING RECYCLING) ACCESSIBLE?
On the DIMat intranet site, Approval of drawings link.
The list will be drawn up for each project in a single file DIMat TARGET LIST and will be filed for
each core competency (organic and metallic).
3.3 UPDATE OF THE DIMAT TARGET LIST
The list will be regularly updated by DIMat core competences and/or on request from GFE GFSs. It
is the BEs responsibility to keep track of the latest updates.
Updates of the list will appear in italic.
3.4 RECYCLING TARGET LIST
Each Substance and recycling PPC of the various projects concerned will draw up a list of recycling
target parts and will distribute it to the GFE on J.DOC3. The lists will be accessible in the vehicles erooms or IG database.

DETAILED PROCESS FOR THE APPROVAL OF DRAWINGS

The DIMat Approval is given electronically only by the designated managers in each sector (see
chapter 5.1). DIMats time commitment to give the Approval is 5 working days maximum.
A pre-standardisation of the drawing may be carried out by core competency experts during drawing
reviews on request from the function group and in the presence of the supplier.
For DIMat Xs which have delegation to grant DIMat Approval (See 6. "Delegation of DIMat
Approval"), the drawing is assigned by the bidders to the concerned laboratory via electronic systems.
4.1 STEP 1: SENDING THE DRAWING FOR ELECTRONIC SIGNATURE
(SEE STANDARD 00-10-300)
For DIV
The GFE or GFS assigns its drawing via GDG (Geometric Data Manager) to the DIMat to the
"concerned signatory Pool" according to the target list.
-

to the

RECYCLING Pool

and/or to the DIV ORGANIC materials Pool

and/or to the

METALLIC materials Pool

In the special cases of the Mechanical Engineering Department "DIM" and Utility Vehicles
Engineering Department "iDVU", the substances and recycling service is delegated to the Mechanical
Engineering Division (DIM) and to the Utility Vehicles Engineering Department (IDVU).
Consequently, for these two engineering departments, the DIMat Approval validates only the product /
process/ design appropriateness.
For DIM
The GFE or GFS assigns its drawing via GDG (Geometric Data Manager) at the DIMat to the
"concerned signatory Pools" according to the target list.
to the

DIM ORGANIC materials Pool

and/or to the METALLIC materials Pool

For iDVU
The GFE or GFS assigns its drawing to the DIMat by iDVUs M Z P system (Mise en Zone Partage
Shared Zoning)
.

to iDVU's SPECIFIC Pool (DIMat)

4.2 STEP 2: COMPARISON WITH DIMAT OR RECYCLING LIST

The recipient of the vehicle drawing or component drawing checks whether the drawing belongs to the
single target list subjected to DIMat Approval for this vehicle or this component.
If the drawing does not belong to the single target list, the recipient CAN REJECT the
drawing with the comments Drawing not subjected to DIMat opinion, Remove the
inappropriate Pool from the list of signatories".
If it belongs to the "DIMat target list", he checks all the points falling under his responsibility (see
chap.2).

RENAULT 2008

Page 12/19

RENAULT

01 - 00 - 510 / - - E

4.3 STEP 3: OPINION OF THE DRAWING RECIPIENT

- Either DIMat approval: Standard approved
- Or Approved "see comments": Changes to be made imperatively for the next evaluation of the
drawing. The drawing will be rejected if these are not taken into account or at the latest on the
last day for the lifting of RNV RESERVATION. (see standard 00-10-112)
- Or DIMat rejection accompanied by the reasons for rejection indicated in the table of reservations.
4.4 STEP 4: DRAWING AUDIT
Drawing quality audits are performed randomly by the UET STDT (Technical Data Processing
Support) on DIMat drawings (Standard 01-33-303).
The rated points are:
Presence and documentation of the DIMat sticker.
Presence and documentation of the table of components.
Reminder: The documentation of the DIMat sticker and the table of components must conform to the
requirements described in chapter 2 of this standard on all drawings; those in the list and
those that are not part of the target list.
5

DELEGATION TO DIMAT X FOR THE APPROVAL OF DRAWINGS

According to the process 64100 04 DP-Z-013 "DIMats international operation", the DIMat-F grants
delegation to International Renault Laboratories (DIMat-X) for the Approval of the drawings of parts in
the target.
The DIMat-X. takes care of the approval of the drawings of parts/functions developed by local
engineering.
In the case of deviations or different local designs in parts in the target list, the DIMat X informs the
DIMat F thereof.
If the drawing approval is rejected with comments, the DIMat X informs the DIMat F thereof for at least
one of the following three cases:
1- The functionality of the part is compromised
2- Design for recycling is modified
3- Presence of prohibited substances
The drawing up of the list of drawings subjected to DIMat Approval and subsequent amendments
thereto obey the same delegation rules.

MANAGEMENT OF CHANGES IN DRAWINGS

Only the following changes require that the drawing be submitted afresh to DIMat to receive a new
approval:
Any change requiring the update of information to be indicated in the drawing according to chapter 2.
(change in materials, production process sheet, processing, etc..),
Any change in the technical specifications of the part or the function,
Addition of part to a function.
