Programme
Business Stream
The NCUK International
Foundation Year programme
has been designed to prepare
international students, who have
completed their high school,
for entry to an undergraduate
degree. During this two-term
programme, students will study
four compulsory modules. Once
students complete and pass the
programme they are guaranteed
a place at an NCUK University.
THE FOUR
COMPULSORY
MODULES ARE:
ENGLISH FOR ACADEMIC
PURPOSES
This specially designed
programme will help students
develop their skills in Academic
English that are required for an
undergraduate course at a UK
University. It will allow students to
develop vocabulary most relevant
to their course of study, and train
them in specific skills such as
listening to lectures, note-taking,
making oral presentations,
academic reading
and writing.
BUSINESS STUDIES
This module has been designed
to ensure that students will have
a basic understanding of the
key concepts of business and
management, such as marketing,
leadership, organizational
structure, accounting and finance,
human resource management and
corporate strategy.
ECONOMICS
The aim of this module is to provide
students with an introduction
to the main theoretical models
and concepts used in macro and
micro-economics. Topics covered
during the course include: the
economic environment, the market
mechanism, market structure
and growth, inflation, international
trade and macroeconomic policy.
MATHS
This module aims to develop
students key knowledge,
understanding, skill and application
of a variety of mathematical and
statistical techniques that are
relevant in the fields of business,
humanities and social science
disciplines.
TEACHING AND
LEARNING STYLES
Throughout the NCUK International
Foundation Year programme, all
academic subject modules will be
delivered by professional teachers
using a lecture and tutorial style
that mirrors the type of teaching
that students will meet in
undergraduate university courses.
ASSESSMENT
AND SUPPORT
To ensure that students achieve
their goals, progress will be
monitored regularly by continuous
assessment of coursework and
class tests. The final grade for each
unit will be based on a mixture of
course work and end of course
examinations.
