StatSilk License Terms

1. DEFINITIONS
License shall mean the terms and conditions for use, reproduction, and distribution as
defined by Sections 1 through 5 of this text.
Licensor shall mean the copyright owner that is granting the License.
You (or Your) shall mean an individual or Legal Entity exercising permissions granted by
this License.
Software shall mean the StatSilk group of software, including StatPlanet, StatPlanet Plus,
StatPlanet Lite, StatTrends, StatTrends Plus and StatWorld.
Non-profit Entity shall mean any individual, education institution, charity, government or
non-profit organization which is not operating for profit or monetary gain.
Commercial Entity shall mean any individual or organization which operates for profit or
monetary gain.
StatPlanet Plus is an advanced version of the free StatPlanet mapping and visualization
software.
StatTrends Plus is an advanced version of the free StatTrends visualization software.
2. RIGHTS AND RESTRICTIONS
2.1. StatPlanet, StatPlanet Lite and StatTrends have no restrictions on use, and may be
freely used, publically displayed, publically performed, and copied and distributed through
any website or media without permission for both commercial and non-commercial use,
subject to 2.4 below. Please note that there is currently no free desktop version of
StatTrends for commercial use.
2.2. StatPlanet Plus and StatTrends Plus have restrictions on use and distribution. The web
version of StatPlanet Plus requires a license for use by both Commercial and Non-profit
Entities, and may only be used on the web-domain(s) to which it is licensed. The desktop
version of StatPlanet Plus may be freely used, publically displayed, publically performed, and
copied and distributed through any website or media without permission by Non-profit
Entities, subject to 2.4 below. The desktop version of StatPlanet Plus requires a license to be
used by Commercial Entities, and may only be used by the Commercial Entity and/or
employees of the Commercial Entity which purchased the license.
2.3. The rights and restrictions described in 2.2 above do not apply for local organizations
and government institutions in low income countries. Local organizations and government
institutions in low income countries may freely use, publically display and publically perform
StatPlanet Plus and StatTrends Plus as well publish StatPlanet Plus and StatTrends Plus on
their website provided that the organization only operates in low income countries and uses a
web domain belonging to a low income country.
2.4. You may not: (a) reverse engineer, modify, adapt, decompile or disassemble the
Software, except and only to the extent that applicable law expressly permits, despite this
limitation; (b) sell or lease the Software; (c) remove, obscure or alter any product
identification or copyright notices on the Software.

3. COPYRIGHT
This Software is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You do not
acquire any rights, express or implied, in the Software other than those specified in this
License.
4. DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTY
Unless required by applicable law or agreed to in writing, Licensor provides the Software on
an "AS IS" BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OR CONDITIONS OF ANY KIND, either
express or implied, including, without limitation, any warranties or conditions of TITLE, NONINFRINGEMENT, MERCHANTABILITY, or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. You
are solely responsible for determining the appropriateness of using or redistributing the
Software and assume any risks associated with Your exercise of permissions under this
License.
5. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
In no event and under no legal theory, whether in tort (including negligence), contract, or
otherwise, unless required by applicable law (such as deliberate and grossly negligent acts),
shall the Licensor be liable to You for damages, including any direct, indirect, special,
incidental, or consequential damages of any character arising as a result of this License or
out of the use or inability to use the Software (including but not limited to damages for loss of
goodwill, work stoppage, computer failure or malfunction, or any and all other commercial
damages or losses), even if the Licensor has been advised of the possibility of such
damages.
