1. PURPOSE
This method statement describes the procedure for excavation work for Roof Slab
Excavation at Choti Chaupar . This method will also be applied for other
construction sites. Any change in case of various site conditions, specified drawing
or method statement will be submitted as per actual site.
2. SCOPE OF WORK
The scope of work involves the excavation of soil from Roof Slab and the disposal of
soil to the designated dumping yard with necessary preparation and systems as per
contract documents.

Prior to the commencement of excavation, CEC will undertake to carry the following:
a. Obtain the consent of the DMRC to commence work.
b. Install all necessary ground monitoring instrumentation and commence initial
readings.
c. Install soft panel at specified location as per design.
d. Complete truck wash bay facility (if required) and associated temporary drainage
system.
e. Provide general site provisions like barricading/illumination /ingresses & egresses
and other
basic requirement.

c. Method Statement of Instrumentation Scheme.

5. RESPONSIBILITES
A) Project Leader:
He shall be overall responsible for following:
Safety Rules
Statutory Compliances
Quality Manuals
Overall responsible for the whole operation.
B) Station Manager:
He shall be overall responsible for the whole procurement of men, material and
machinery at site, including operation planning and adhered with works programme.
C) Site-In-charge:
Overall Responsible for the whole site operation.
D)
Site Engineer:
Responsible for site operation.
Material and equipment planning.
Ensure that works are carried out in accordance with the method statement.
Ensure that works follow approved drawings and specifications.
Ensure that works are carried out in a safe manner.
Field control and supervise all site activities.
Apply and issue relevant work permits.
E) Design Engineer:

He shall be responsible to issue controlled copies of all drawings to the site personnel
and return back all obsolete copies. He shall provide detailed design specifications to
carry out the work.
Surveyor
Carry out setting up works and locate as per submission drawings.
Carry out inspection for location and level of structure.
Keep monitoring the movement of ground and structure.
I) QC Engineer:
Ensure works are carried out in accordance with specification.

7. METHODOLOGY
a) Preceding Activities
The following activities to be completed prior to commencement of excavation:
Barricading with barricading board all around the construction site.
Site temporary drainage.
Access and egress for men and machinery.
Temporary bench mark to be fixed and pre level to be jointly recorded.

After Clearing of all Excavated Earth A Plate Compactor shall be used for
Compaction of the Soil.
PCC (M15 Grade) shall be placed by Pump on The Compacted Soil. Fixing of 3
mm Thick Plywood shall be laid on PCC for Laying Of Reinforcement for Roof Slab
Concrete.
8. QUALITY ASSURANCE
CEC will verify that the excavation is executed to the dimension, lines, levels and
sequences above.
CEC will carry out the following:

be displayed at the site office. Ambulance and other emergency services shall be
made available as per details submitted in the SHE plan.
Evacuation Procedure
In event of an evacuation being required, e.g. flood, fire, power failure, gas or failure
of ventilation, the following procedures will be followed.
1. In event, the site engineer and site supervisor to quickly and safely manage
the evacuation of all personnel within the excavation. This will include all
workers, CEC staff and any visitors.
2. The site supervisor immediately informs the site engineer that an incident
has occurred and gives details. The site engineer will then inform the
management.
3. All personnel will gather at the designated assembly point. A plan indicating
this location will be displayed at the top and bottom of the excavation access
and at the gate of assembly point designated at the station.
4. No one is to enter the excavation area until the emergency is over and
without the approval of the project manager.
