Pennsylvania House Bill 516

For the past several sessions
of the Pennsylvania General
Assembly, legislation has
been introduced under the
disguise of licensing a small
group of Naturopathic Physicians. The proposed bill is a
continued attempt to put
Traditional Naturopaths out
of business, cause practitioners like Colon Hydro therapists to shut down and create issues for practitioners of
Chiropractic, Acupuncture
and Body Work. House Bill
516 will only license approximately 40 individuals,
meanwhile the bill will put
close to 500 out of business
and have rippling effects
that may eliminate several
thousand non allopathic
practitioners. Knowing this,
if you as a consumer of the

services of a Traditional Naturopath or one of the other

non allopathic modalities
would like to keep your freedom of choice in deciding
what type of practitioner you
may see for your health care
needs, then I would suggest
contacting your member of
the Pennsylvania House of
Representatives.

vote is scheduled and may
move from committee to the

The American Medical Association reports that 80% of
all health problems are
stress related. The Center

that 85% of all diseases appear to have an emotional

Pets and Common Houseplants.

Spring is almost here! Who can resist
all the bright fresh plants being offered
at local nurseries...even the grocery
store! Your pets may be one. While
some plants may appear to be completely harmless and even be edible for a
human, to some animals they are toxic.
Often a toxic plant is no problem when
placed in areas where they are out of
the way for a snooping cat or dog; when
the same plant is now sitting on the
porch, it may tempt a nibble from your
pet! Some plants we need to try and
make sure stay untasted and out of
pets digestive tracts are:

the kitchen to treat burns, but, for
a critter it can create diarrhea and

ENGLISH IVY. A lot of homes have

this vine as a hanging basket container, however the sap from the
plant is toxic as well as the leaves.
The plant produces the toxin
triterpenoid saponin.

vomiting in pets.

this plant are the most harmful

flower arrangements. It has a bulb
that is the most dangerous part of
the plant to our pets. Hence, winter
storage and or even improper discarding of the bulbs could prove
deadly to a kitten.
Keep this in mind this
fall when you go to
store your bulbs as
many bulbs can make
our pets sick.

POINSETTIA. When one thinks of

poinsettia it is usually only associated at the Christmas Holiday Season. However, some people have
this plant growing all year round.
The usual reported problems are
extreme stomach and mouth irritation in pets and is one that has a
limited fatality rate.

LILIES. There are a

large array of species
of this flowering plant
found in many forms
from the wild to cultivated varieties. The
flowers are not toxic
to dogs, but for cats
they can prove to be very harmful.
Kidney failure in cats has been
traced to accidental ingestion of
lilies.

CYCLAMEN. Often found only in

pots and as such is not as common
for pet issues as the ones planted in
the flower garden. However, the
root of this plant is very toxic to
dogs and cats.

TOMATO PLANTS. This form of

deadly nightshade has been documented to cause death in livestock
but in the cat and dog family it is
usually just seen as a massive irritant to the digestive tract.

Lyme carrying ticks are now in your neck of the woods!

According to the CDC there are more
than 300,000 documented cases of
Lyme reported in the U.S. every year.
Massive numbers of the infections are
never properly diagnosed and are misslabeled as other issues. An article in the
Journal of Medical Entomology last fall
reported that the tick carrying Lyme
was officially found in North Dakota
and moving west and north. These ticks
were removed from small animals and

laboratory analyzed. It was discovered

that not only is Babesiosis present, but
I. scapularis too; both purportedly
cause Lyme disease. Hence, one has to
be very careful and if any of the Lyme
related symptoms occur, seek professional assistance immediately. An acute
issue is bad enough however, if left untreated becomes chronic and can be life
debilitating.

Gut microbes and food cravings.

Your intestinal tract hosts over a trillion organisms including over a thousand different species of bacteria. A
large percentage of these microbes exert significant control over your eating
habits and are not just passively living
off the nutrients you ingest. Its not a
one way street, you are partially living
off of the energy that is exchanged between the foods and the microbes. Eating habits influenced by the microbial
load are things like specific food or food

need for other foods. There may be a

During the winter months, most people

Tick borne disease/Lyme...

With the weather starting to warm up
and more people heading to the outdoors, we need to be ever vigilant for
that little critter the tick. I have been
seeing more and more clients with issues and problems that have a basis of
Lyme Disease that has been undiagnosed by the allopathic community as
well as chronic and acute symptoms.
If you are spending time outside and

start to notice any of the following issues, please consider the possibility of
an exposure to Borrelis burgdorferi or
one of the other related Lyme variants
and or co-infections. Some of the symptoms that may be observed are: skin
rashes, continued headaches, continued
mild fevers, chronic stiff neck, extended
fatigue, muscle aches that do not go
away. (continued on page #4.)

...swollen lymph glands, extended
cloudy thinking, sleep disturbances,
optic neuritis, neuralgia, anxiety, extended heart conditions that may not
have an underlying cardiac diagnosis,
some paralysis, etc.
In some cases, the allopathic world has
told the clients I have worked with they
have multiple sclerosis, chronic fatigue,
no physical problem and that it is in
their head, etc. Yes, that is not exactly
what a person wants to hear!
Hence, confirming the issues to be addressed may be verified with specific
laboratory testing to check certain biomarkers. It is sad to say, only 2 laboratories in the United States are checking
for those biomarkers and it is not something the allopathic practitioner usually
orders.
By using some very well time proven
herbs a lot of the issues that may be
part of the whole Lyme related cycle

can usually be decreased and or eliminated.

The massive problem lies in making
sure that the client has addressed all of
the co-infections that usually accompany the initial infection of the Lyme parasite. This requires not only addressing
the diet and nutrients that are being
consumed, but, the diet and foods that
should be avoided. Making sure that
the cells are receiving all that they need
to be healthy, making sure that the
body is detoxing the underlying problems and issues as well as removing the
offending critters from the body.
If you feel that you may have been exposed to Lyme and or the tick that may
be carrying Lyme, please consider contacting my offices to assess a plan of
action to help restore your health and
wellness. This process is one that does
not correct itself overnight but takes
months to remove the Lyme spirochete

from the body and get heath restored. If
the spirochete kill-off is not done correctly or only partially done, exacerbating symptoms may occur, and that is a
situation that needs to be avoided to get
you back to where you want to be.
Prevention of an infection is always
best but, if it happens, alternatives exist to help address the issues.
