A full journal bearing of 50mm diameter and 100mm long has a bearing pressure of 1.4N/mm 2. The speed of the journal i.e. 950 rpm and
the ratio of journal diameter to the diameter clearance is 1000. The bearing is lubricated with oil whose absolute viscosity at the operating
temperature of 750C may be taken as 0.11kg/m-s. the room temperature is 350C. Find 1. The amount of artificial cooling, 2. The mass of
the lubricating oil required, if the difference between the outlet and inlet temperature of the oil is 10 0C. Take specific heat of the oil as
85J/Kg/0C.
(7)
Discuss briefly about hydrostatic and hydrodynamic lubrications.
(5)
Lames Equation state and prove?
(5)
A high steel cylinder consists of steel tube with inner and outer diameter of 20mm and 40mm respectively. It is jacked by an outer steel
tube, having an outer diameter of 60mm. the tubes are assembled by a shrinking process such a way that maximum principal stress
induced in any tube is limited to 100 N/mm2. Calculate the shrinkage pressure and original dimension o f the tube (E = 207kN/ mm 2)

A tube with 50mm and 75mm respectively is reinforced by shrinking a jacket with an outer diameter of 100mm. the compound tube is to
withstand an internal pressure of 35Mpa. The shrinkage allowance is such that the maximum tangential stress in each tube has same
magnitude, calculate 1) The shrinkage pressure 2) The original dimensions of the tube. Show the distribution of tangential stress. Assume
E = 207kN/mm2 (8)
