Quantitative Aptitude DI Division of two numbers Trick

DI Division of two numbers Trick

February 13, 2016

You can expect one or more division questions in DI section in exam so here we are explaining a trick to
save your time in exam hall. Practice this method and save some time in exam.
Example : 234 is how much % in 540 ?
You need to find
First you need to find

value

Lets see How to calculate the division value.

1. Find approximate your numerator & denominators to nearest century numbers i.e 234

250, 540

600
2. So now fraction is
3. So approximate value of the given fraction will be
4. Now if I increase numerator value by 5 and denominator by 12 , new fraction =
5. If I increase numerator value by 10 and denominator by 24 , new fraction =
6. If I increase numerator value by 25 and denominator by 60 , new fraction =

7. So now its easy to find our fraction with using denominator 500, to find
8. So now we need to find how much value increased in denominator i.e. 60 we know by seeing 4,5,6

steps if we increase numerator by 5 time need to increase denominator by 12 times.

9. Now 60 increased from denominator so we need to increase

in numerator i.e

234+25=259
10. Now we can easily calculate 259/600 =

Example : 446 is how much % in 978 ?

You need to find (446/978)*100
1. Nearest century numbers fraction is 450/1000 i.e 9/20
2. (446+x)/1000
3. 1000-978=22 so approximately we need to add 10 to numerator i.e. 446+10=456
4. 456/1000=0.456(apprx.) Exact value = 0.456032
Example : 162 is how much % in 389 ?
You need to find (162/389)*100
1. Nearest century numbers fraction is 200/400 i.e. 1/2
2. (162+x)/400
3. 400-389=11 so we need to add 5.5 to numerator i.e. 162+5.5=167.5
4. 167.5/400=0.418 (apprx.)Exact value = 0.416452
Example : 112 is how much % in 192 ?
You need to find (112/192)*100
1. Nearest century numbers fraction is 100/200 i.e. 1/2
2. (112+x)/200
3. 200-192=8 so we need to add 4 to numerator i.e. 112+4 =116
4. 116/200=0.58 (apprx.)Exact value = 0.58333
Example :742is how much % in 1515 ?
You need to find (742/1515)*100

1. Note : Here we are decreasing the denominator value.

2. Nearest century numbers fraction is 750/1500 i.e. 1/2
3. we need to minus x from numerator (742-x)/1500
4. 1515-1500=15 so we need to minus 7.5 from numerator i.e. 742-7.5 =734.5
5. 734.5/1500=0.4896 (apprx.)Exact value = 0.48976
Example :Find 617/912 value?
1. Note : Here we are decreasing the denominator value.
2. Nearest century numbers fraction is 600/900 i.e. 2/3
3. we need to minus x from numerator (617-x)/900
4. 912-900=12 so we need to minus (2/3)*12=8 from numerator i.e. 617-8 =609
5. 609/900=0.6766 (apprx.)Exact value = 0.67653
