Proposed Christian Amendment to the U.S.

Constitution

Liberals are constantly pointing out that God is not mentioned in the
Constitution implying that America is not a Christian Nation. However, the
founding fathers in their quotes and writings expressed their beliefs in no
uncertain terms that America was founded on Christian principles. While it is
true that our Constitution does not mention God or religion, this is clearly an
oversight. At the time the Constitution was written, our nations Christian
status was already a foregone conclusion. Christianity was well established
in the statements and writings of our founding fathers including the
Declaration of Independence, the signing of which we consider to be the
actual start date for America.
Even though it may not be not necessary, in order to clarify so as to clear up
long standing confusion, Americans today should correct this inadvertent
omission and amend our Constitution to assert our founding Christian
principles.
Proposed Religious Freedom Amendment: No person shall be forced
to or forbidden to practice their religion. As America is a Christian
nation founded on Christian principles, One Nation Under God
shall be our motto and American law will adhere to the teachings of
Christ as recorded in the Holy Bible.
This amendment in no way compels any citizen to practice the Christian
faith but it does compel American citizens and non-citizens who reside here
to abide by common Christian mores and beliefs already ingrained in our
judicial code. Furthermore, it empowers and obligates our lawmakers,
judges and the executive branch to act according to the founding principles
of the Constitution. This new amendment will also guarantee that other
belief systems such as those contained in the Koran like Sharia law shall not
be considered or cited when interpreting or making our laws.

Non-Christians who are already citizens will not have to change their faith.
However, new immigrants who are welcomed by the United States, as Christ
compels us to do, will have to pledge to adhere to our Christian-inspired
American values so that they can more easily assimilate. This is a common
sense provision for the preservation of our Republic since radical Muslims
and others have declared war upon America, our way of life and our
religious ideals. The Constitution in not a suicide pact. We must take obvious
precautions to protect our country and our citizens from a self-professed
enemy.
Once this amendment passes and the Constitution is changed, our federal,
state and local laws and government programs will have to adhere to the
teachings of Jesus as described in the Bible. Students will once again be able
to pray in schools and study the Bible just as they were allowed to do so
from the founding of our great nation up until 1963 when the US Supreme
Court banned school prayer and the Bible. However, non-believers will not
have to take part in or recite these prayers. America will need to make sure
that non-Christians will not be shunned and will retain the same rights
afforded to all citizens.
This amendment will offer Americans newly rediscovered freedoms. Manger
scenes with the Baby Jesus, Christmas Trees and crosses will once again be
displayed in the public square as they once were. Football coaches will be
able to lead their teams in prayer. Judges can, at their discretion, display the
Ten Commandments or Bible verses in their Courtrooms. America will be a
better, more law-abiding country when all Americans adhere to Christian
ideals as expressed by Jesus.

Other laws and regulations will also need to be altered to comply. In

Mathew 28: 4, Jesus admonishes his followers to feed the poor and care for
the sick. Due to these teachings, United States laws and policy must be
changed to adhere to these core Christian principles so that we feed those
American Citizens who are hungry and help those American Citizens who are
poor. Food and food security is therefore to be considered a basic right for
residents of the United States. Churches and religious institutions will still be
the first line of defense against poverty and hunger, but food Stamps or the
SNAP program will need to be expanded to cover all Americans in need
including immigrants and non-citizens. Poor citizens may appeal to their
legislators or the courts if they claim that they or their children do not have
enough food to eat or adequate shelter and those representatives of
government will be compelled to act by law.
Caring for the sick shall also be a major tenet of the laws of the United
States per the teachings of Jesus. In that vein, this amendment will prompt
new national laws compelling all physicians, hospitals and medical facilities
in the United States to admit patients and provide the best care for them
regardless of the patients ability to pay for said services. Charities will be
able to assist but these medical bills will need to be paid by the federal or
state government through Medicaid, Medicare, the Affordable Care Act or
through a new government apparatus set up to make sure that the
followings of Jesus regarding the sick and downtrodden are followed.
Jesus also implored his followers to turn the other cheek and not to be
judgmental. In Luke 6:29 Jesus said, And unto him that smiteth thee on
the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloke
forbid not to take thy coat also. In John 8:7: when the Pharisees brought
him a woman who had committed adultery and asked if they should stone
her to death in accordance with the laws of Moses, Jesus said He that is
without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. Considering these
and the other teachings of Jesus on which all Christianity is based, the
United States, in order to comply with the new Christian amendment, will
have to rethink the use of its military and its system of justice.

Now, Jesuss teachings should not be interpreted as a call for America to lay
down its arms and let its enemies attack or to allow murderers and rapists
to go free. Even though He was a pacifist, Jesus did admonish his followers
to render onto Caesar those things that are Caesars. The Government will
still need to act to protect its citizens. However, just as the woman who
committed adultery was spared being stoned to death, those who violate
Gods law but do not pose a threat to society shall not face official societal
sanction. Jesus forbids it. Those who kill, rob, rape or maim shall still be
subject to arrest and punishment and stolen property will be returned but
adulterers, gays, lesbians and other undesirables shall be afforded the same
rights as all citizens and only those without sin will be able to pass
judgement. Since no man is without sin, this means, no firing of gays for
being gay and no refusing to serve homosexuals in restaurants or retail
stores will be allowed or tolerated. Citizens living in a Christian nation will be
expected to honor the teachings of or our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Those who dont abide will face state civil sanctions. In other words, persons
who are discriminated against because of their religion, race, gender or
sexual orientation may seek punitive damages, actual damages and full
restitution in civil lawsuits. This is consistent with the teachings of Jesus.
America will not unilaterally turn swords into plowshares. We will still
maintain a strong national defense but the use of our armed forces will need
to change. Our definition of a just war will have to be altered to abide by our
Christian obligations. Jesus Christ is the Prince of Peace, a true pacifist. As
a nation bound by his teachings, no longer will the United States wage
unjust, arbitrary wars for undefined national security goals. As a Christian
nation, American will only fight as a last resort; to protect our homeland
from invasion or to safeguard the lives of others.

Our wars of the past 50 years from Viet Nam to the Second Iraq war will
serve as valuable teaching and learning tools so that we conduct ourselves
in a more civilized, Christian fashion. Shooting or bombing an enemy who is
trying to kill our soldiers or attack our citizens is permissible. Blowing up
civilians and brutalizing non-combatants to advance a commercial agenda,
in response to non-aggression or to gain more economic influence in a
particular region or country cannot and will no longer be tolerated in a selfdesignated Christian society.
Once this amendment passes our laws will be more defined and easier for
our courts to interpret. Our founding Christian principles will be codified.
Consequently, while our laws and principles will always be determined by
our foundation in Christianity, no person shall be compelled to practice any
particular religion. No citizen will be compelled by law to pray or recite oaths
with religious undertones in schools, at work or at any other function. This
should satisfy the objections of liberals and atheists. Conversely, as a
Christian nation, laws will be enacted to feed the hungry, care for the sick,
control our military ambitions and protect sinners or societal outliers from
discrimination. American will continue in its quest for a more perfect union
and fulfill its destiny as the leader of the free world. Then we can humbly
and without fear of hypocrisy call on God to truly bless America.
