A very good morning I bid to the esteemed panel of judges, the ever punctual time
keepers, fellow contestants and last but not least, members of the floor, please take

Before I present my points, let me define the title of my choice for today. According
to the Longman Dictionary, Government means an administrative system of a
country that controls or rule a country based on the law. The word post is a prefix
that is used to indicate after or later. Therefore, post - secondary education is
the education that is pursued after completing secondary education. Post-secondary
or tertiary education usually takes place in institutes that features advanced
knowledge and skills such as Colleges and universities that awards certificates,
diplomas and degrees.
It is a known fact that Malaysia is a country that emphasizes on quality education.
Currently, the government is giving out loans for students who wish to continue
their studies and they have to pay their loans back after the post-secondary
education apparently this is not enough. The government should pay for the postsecondary education and there are reasons to do so. I will provide the reasons in
two different perspectives.

From the economic perspective, sponsoring students to continue studying is
beneficial for our country. The government should take the chance by sponsoring
students for their post-secondary education because it is a kind of investment.
Believe it or not, 85% of Malaysians work in their own country. Therefore, if the
government takes the effort to sponsor students, the students will not be worried
about financial means of paying back the loans. Education is the only way to
produce a society that thinks critically, works hard and able to contribute positively
back to the countrys economy. Without sponsorship from the government, a
majority of students who afford to study overseas will choose to do so. . We will also
be a global player that could compete with other giants like Japan, The United
States of America and Australia Not only that, sponsoring students education will
reduce the unemployment rate in our country. This is because all the students will
have qualifications and they would obtain good jobs in the working world. Students,
who have completed SPM, will not be able to give any excuse to continue studying.

It can also help our economy to grow worldwide if we have educated masterminds
and Malaysia will be an active trader in the world economy.
In another perspective which is the social perspective, our government will be
known as a caring government if they sponsor students post-secondary education.
This is because students who cannot afford to pay are separated in the world when
money is a need. By sponsoring the students, the government at least showed the
country that they care about its people. People will surely respect and cooperate
with the government after showing such caring effort. Other than that, students
who paid to study overseas will come back with a new high culture. This will enrich
the existing culture in our country. This will open our eyes and refresh our brain with
new and unseen culture from the other side of the world.

Albert Einstein once mentioned that genius means 1% inspiration and 99% effort.
Well in this case, the government can be an inspiration or as a motivation for
students by reducing their financial burden. Furthermore, it will be a great help for
those who cant afford to continue studying in the tertiary education. In fact, those
who live in the rural area have less chance to continue studying in the tertiary
education compared than the urban area. Therefore, it is important to bridge the
gap between the rural and the urban areas. This a high priority task in our country.
Our prime minister, Dato sri najib abdul Razak always emphasizes on equality and
unity. This initiative would strongly support our prime ministers vision. By launching
this initiative, students will break a wall between them which is divided by their
education, rank and status. This is because they have the same opportunity to
succeed in their life. This is a future of a united generation with high education.
Last but not least, in a nutshell, by paying for the post-secondary education, it is
possible for Malaysia to produce an educated generation that could serve the
country without a doubt. Teenagers are the future, they are born like a plain white
paper, and it is up to us to paint them. Remember, the one who helps now will be
helped tomorrow. With that, I would like to end my speech. Thank you and Have a
good day.
