INTRODUCTION
E-commerce (electronic commerce or EC) is the buying and selling of goods
and services, or the transmitting of funds or data, over an electronic
network, primarily the Internet. Now days e-commerce business is
developing and growing in a faster and unimaginable way.
The project is based on developing a website or online portal to sell linens,
pottery and tableware. The website is based on a start-up set up by group of
six people (i.e. LTB07). The company is a Rajasthan based company and is
trying to root their feet in the mind of customers by selling quality products
on an online portal named Shophome.
For making the online website for displaying all products and providing
various facilities to the customers, we decide to avail facility from online
portals of e-commerce hosting service providers.
We decide to visit Yahoo! Small business, GoDaddy, and Volusion, the three
major online service providers and compare the range of e-commerce
hosting services they are currently offering to small businesses.
On the basis of that we will decide, from where we are going to avail all the
facilities regarding our website development.

data, because that is already available at a primary stage, and one is taking
that for analyzing certain things. So the data collected from all the three
websites can be called as secondary data.
As our primary focus is to compare all the range of ecommerce hosting
services they are offering to small businesses, because on the basis of that,
our main objective will be achieve.
The data that we gathered helps us to reach out to certain points, which are

Most of the websites are playing on the pricing structure, because first

quoted price, while GoDaddy restricted them to a single domain for a
single user.
Volusion in terms of facilities and features are very good, which they
are providing under four stated plans Mini, Plus, Pro, Premium. The
best quoted service which suits to our website initial stage is Mini. The
cost of availing this service is $15.00 per month and $180.00 for a
year, which is much more than GoDaddy.
But what they are doing is, they are giving 14 Days free trial, so if
customer happy with their services they will stick to their plans and
pricing module, because what they are doing is providing real time
experience to them.
Big Cartel is currently providing services in 4 different price modules
name as Platinum, Diamond, Titanium and Gold.
Under Gold plan, they are giving unlimited usage but with limited
features. As far as our website is concerned, it requires certain features
with more products to be displayed, that is why we are choosing the
Diamond plan, under which we will get numerous features and 100
products to be displayed.

After reviewing the three websites, from the business point of view, we found
out that GoDaddy is providing better services than the competitors.

GoDaddy is providing the facility of developing a web portal for the

business at just Rs 99.00/yr and for additional years it costs only Rs
599.00/yr, this will ensure lower costs for developing portal for our
startup.
If we go for GoDaddy for our startup, they provide security services like
Site backup, Site restoration, Shared SSL, Raw access logs etc. for free
while the other websites are offering the same services for a paid
subscription.
GoDaddy offers other services like Domain Transfer facilities and user
can upload unlimited products during their service period.
