Speaking

Students are organized in groups of

six, and they receive a board game.
Learners have to play it by using a dice
and six pieces; the objective of the game
is to advance all the pieces to the end.
They have to express what people are
doing based on the image in which the
piece is placed.

Listening and
Reading

Teachers explain the vocabulary of the

listening activity. In pairs, students have
to complete the scripts gaps while they
are listening to the audio. It describes
the actions that people are doing in the
street. Learners are encouraged to
socialize their answers.

Anticipated problem:
Ss play the board game,
but they do not express
what is happening in the
image in which the
pieces is placed.
Solution: teachers walk
around the classroom
monitoring if Ss are
describing
what
is
happening
in
the
images, if not teachers
encourage Ss to use the
dictionary.
Anticipated problem:
Ss do not complete all
the scripts gaps.

Ss produce indiscipline.

Speaking

Solution: before going

to observe what is
happening
outside,
teachers warn Ss that
they
have
observe
carefully because after
the activity they have to
do a task.

Learners are organized in groups and

guided by the teachers, they go to
observe the school environment in order
to identify what is happening at the
moment. Teachers point on person and
ask students questions about what
she/he is doing. Students have to
describe the actions that people are
executing. Learners come back and

observed on a piece of paper. It is
recollected by the teachers.
Homework

Teachers give Ss the instructions to do

the homework. Then, learners are asked
about what they have to do in order to
check if they understood.

they

people were doing in

the image. Therefore,
the teachers had to
perform the action
and say what was
happening.
The
board
game
activity
was
not
meaningful since the
Ss play the game, but
they did not follow the
instructions. They did
not express what was
happening
in
the
image
where
the
piece is placed.
Although, they were
encouraged to use
the dictionary, they
did not do it.
Even though this
activity
was
cancelled, it spent too
much time and there
was no time to
develop the listening
task.
Teachers decided to
do it in the next class.
The activity outside
the classroom was
not successfully since
the majority of the
students
got
distracted. Also, the
students
produced
indiscipline and they
did not take note
about what they were
observing.
The teachers had to
threaten the Ss to
give them a bad
grade if they did not
do the activity.

Students have to go to a place they want. Their task is to observe what people are
doing there, and describe it by doing a recording of 1 minute.
Homework:

REFLECTION SESSION:
What went well?

Unfortunately, this class was not meaningful since there was too much indiscipline
and it effected radically the teaching process.
How do you know that?
It was impossible to scaffold the learning due to the students behavior and the
general aim was not achieved.
What didnt go that well?
Pitifully, this class was not meaningful. The students did not want to pay attention
and during the class they produced too much indiscipline. It was really difficult for
teachers to control the students because they were over-excited. At the beginning of
the class, the teachers calmed the learners down during some minutes, but they
continued with the same behavior.
During the board game the students did not follow the instructions and they did not
express what was happening in the image where the piece was placed. Due to that
teachers decided to cancel the activity and move on to the next task.
What would you do different next time?
1. It is important to identify if the learners are over-excited in order to implement
strategies to keep discipline.
2. The exams or quizzes should be handed out at the end of the class not at the
beginning because it interrupts the pace of the Lesson.
3. If the students are over-excited, the teachers should not develop activities
outside the classroom.
