Considerations:
Shared reading provides rich opportunities to
discover the pleasure of reading because
students gather around the teacher in groups,
a sense of community is established and
students feel encourage and confident to read
along in an enthusiastic environment. In this
lesson students will read from a "script" and
reading parts are divided among the readers.

Predict what the story is about orally by reading the title of the script with minimal

assistance
When shown power point, read the parts with words from slide with no errors
given script, underline the parts of the script that they are assigned to read with no

errors
With assigned peer given a script, practice their assigned parts within three minutes

read their assigned parts with expressive voices and gestures with no more than three errors

Introduction: Teacher will introduce the lesson through questioning in order to build
students background knowledge. The teacher will ask:
Where do you shop for your shoes?
How do you choose your shoes?
What type of shoes do you buy?

Check for understanding
Oral questioning to determine whether the students understand the lesson or not.
Explanation :
The teacher will explain to the students that they would be doing a reader theatre and explain
reader theatre. Teacher will read the title of the story and ask students to make prediction of
the story. Teacher will introduce the lesson through questioning in order to build students
background knowledge. The teacher will ask: Where do you shop for your shoes? How do
you choose your shoes? What type of shoes do you buy?

Teacher will read the script with expression and gestures in order for students to be

able to model after. A power point will be shown while the teacher reads and teacher will
point to students to read certain parts of the scripts with her.
Teacher will then distribute the script for students and give each students their assigned part
Students will then highlight the part that they are reading
With their assigned reading partners will practice their part they have to read within three
minutes. When the time has elapsed, students will read the script with fluency and
expression.
Check for understanding:
Test the capability of the students. How the students perform the task with or without
guidance
Extended practise:
Given script will practice their part for the next lesson.
Closure/ Lesson Summary:
Teacher will recap the lesson asking them what they liked about the lesson.
Management strategies

Voice control chart will be used to keep the noise level at a minimal.

Teacher will remind students of the good behaviour game

Teacher will count from 5 1 to quiet down students
