SITUATIONAL ANALYSIS
A. Over-all Description of the Barangay
1. History of Barangay San Juan
Barangay San Juan has something historic to the
town of Bobon. To site some few historical events and
memories, are:

The first Roman Catholic Church was located in this


Barangay, the place where the residential house of
Jose I. Aguirre was constructed.
The first public cemetery was located in the area
where the residential house of Mr. Santiago L. Tobes
and the family of the late Adolfo P. Alvarez are
located.
A place very close to the area of the church and the
cemetery was utilized as the first public market,
specifically the area of the house of Mr. Adolfo is
found. This public market existed for many years and
served the people of Bobon as center for trade.

Tabok as originally called by Bobonanons was


named so because it is located at the other side of
Bobon River which run across at the heart of Brgy. Sta.
Clara and Brgy. Gen. Lucban, is still a common word
today of the day to day conversation of Bobonanons.
To mention some of the few individuals who were
instrumental in the making of Tabok a part of Bobon
history and developing into a barangay are: Domingo
Tubelleza,
Luis
Lucban,
Crisanto
Miscreola,
Buenaventura Miranda, Dionesion Elutin, certain Fruto
Cloribel from Cebu, Juan Rojo from Bohol and an old
man called Baba Orat. It is also worth mentioning Atty.
Pio Merida who, during his incumbency as Mayor of
Bobon, made the effort to convertTabok into a
barangay in the year 1965.

2. GEOGRAPHICAL SETTING
Barangay San Juan is one of the 18 barangay in the
municipality of Bobon, Northern Samar. It is

the feeder road bounded by Brgy.

on the south, Brgy.
on the west and Brgy.
on
the east.

3. TOPOGRAPHY
Barangay San Juan, relative plain all over the entire
barangay.

11. EDUCATIONAL FACILITIES
There is a complete Elementary grade, from
grade 1 to 6 , teachers and school building.
12. HEALTH FACILITIES
Brgy. Health Center is manned by Midwife, BNS
and BHW and CHT members.
13. POWER
NORSAMELCO is the source of the electricity
in the barangay.

emergency uses and some are using kerosene.
14. TRANSPORTATION
Means
of
transportation
motorcycle/tricycle, PD-cab, and truck.

15. COMMUNICATION
Most speaks Waray, other Visaya, Tagalog,
English, and Cebuano. Others are using
cellphone and other gadgets as their means of
communication. 80% of the families are using
mobile gadgets.
