I.

SITUATIONAL ANALYSIS
A. Over-all Description of the Barangay
1. HISTORY OF BARANGAY ARELLANO
Barangay Arellano then Sitio Canibongan with few
houses and farming as the main source of livelihood since
it was formed grew fast in population. In the year 1949, the
need for the school building with a teacher was being felt.
This need prompted the sitio leader to seek the assistance
of the Late Mayor Juan Divina which eventually made to
the construction of a school building at the foot of the
mountain near the house of Sitio Leader Segundo Mollijon.
Through the years there was always a bountiful
harvest of palay and other agricultural products and
because of this, the folks decided to give thanks and praise
to Sr. San Isidro de Labrador which became the Sitio Patron
Saint celebrated every May. The first Hermano Mayor and
automatically became the first Teniente del Sitio in the
year 1954 was Faustino Camposano.
The first elected Teniente del Sitio was retired army
Gregorio Hernandez in 1960. He was succeeded in 1964 by
Francisco Esuga who made the efforts to rename the place
into a barangay under the administration of Mayor Pio
Merida. Domingo Paredes succeeded in the year 1968 and
during this time, the school building was transferred to the
barrio proper. In 1972, a new building was erected with a
land donated by the late Martin Evengelista. During this
time Sitio Canibongan was turned into Barangay Arellano
with Eddie Esuga as the first Brgy. Captain. Through the

years, Barangay Election paved the way to the changing of


barangay leaders which contributed to the improvement of
the barangay.

2. GEOGRAPHICAL SETTING
Barangay Arellano is one of the 18 barangay in the
municipality of Bobon, Northern Samar. It is

There is a complete Elementary grade, from grade 1 to
6 , teachers and school building.

12. HEALTH FACILITIES


Brgy. Health Center is manned by Midwife, BNS and
BHW and CHT members.

13. POWER
NORSAMELCO is the source of the electricity in the
barangay.

some having generator for emergency uses and some
are using kerosene.

14. TRANSPORTATION
Means of transportation by motorcycle/tricycle, PDcab, and truck.

15. COMMUNICATION
Most speaks Waray, other Visaya, Tagalog, English,
and Cebuano. Others are using cellphone and other
gadgets as their means of communication. 80% of the
families are using mobile gadgets.
