1. GENERAL.
2. This illustrated parts breakdown is published
to enable supply, maintenance, and field personnel
to properly identify and requisition spare parts for
main landing gear shock strut assembly designed
by Lockheed-h%craft Corp, Georgia Div, -and manufactured by Menasco Manufacturing Corp, Burbank, CA 3. The handbook of overhaul instruction for this
strut assembly may be found in T.O.481-37-3.

4. The introduction includes (1)vendor's code and

address; (2) table 1, main gear struts in USAF
inventory; (3) figure 1, strut complete.
5. Maintenance parts list is body of illustrated
parts breakdown. It consists of a breakdown of
illustrated parts breakdown of major assemblies
and subassemblies preceded by an exploded
illustration.

listed is followed immediately (except for attaching

thereunder to show their relationship to the assembly. To determine next higher assembly for a part
or assembly, note column in which first word of
nomenclature begins; first item directly above
which appears one column to left (except for attaching parts) is next higher assembly.
7. CONTRACTOR PART NUMBERS. Contractor
part numbers are assigned primarily in the 300,000
series. A part number prefixed LS indicates a
Lockheed Aircraft C o r ~standard art.
8. USABLE ON CODE COLUMN. Usable On
Code column contains code letters to indicate
usability of replacement parts when two or more
assemblies are listed in breakdown. Absence of a
code letter opposite a part indicates that part is
usable on all assemblies listed. This coding applies
only to figure or assembly on which it appears and
shows interchangeability only between components
of assembly.
9. SOURCE, MAINTENANCE, AND RECOVERABILITY
CODE (SMR) COLUMN.

10. This manual contains joint military services
