• 1 John 3:1-3

3:1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we
should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it
knew him not.
3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we
shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we
shall see him as he is.
3:3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is
pure.

Our Savior understood all about human nature and he says,

“Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father, which is in heaven, is
perfect.”(Matthew 5:48)
-As God is perfect in His sphere, so man is to be perfect in His sphere. (Mar
227.1)
-God’s righteousness is demonstrated when we as Christians fulfill our duties and
responsibilities. Responsibilities towards God, towards society and towards our
neighbors. Our Christian responsibilities are based on loving one another. If we
love one another we fulfill the law.

• Galatians 4:4,5
4:4 But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of
a woman, made under the law,
4:5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the
adoption of sons.

• John 1:12
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God,
[even] to them that believe on his name
-These words of hope declare to us that we should be content with nothing less
than the best and highest character, a character formed after the divine similitude.
When such a character is possessed, the life, the faith, the purity of religion, is an
instructive example to others.

• Strangers and pilgrims (1 Peter 2:11)

“Dearly beloved, I beseech [you] as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly
lusts, which war against the soul.”
-So many lusts of the flesh war against the soul. (Movies, music, food)

1
-Romans 12:1,2.
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your
bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, [which is] your reasonable
service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the
renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable,
and perfect, will of God”
-Matthew 4:4
“Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the
mouth of God”
-2 Corinthians 5:7
“(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)”
• World’s greatest need
Education p.57
“The greatest want of the world is the want of men-- men who will not be
bought or sold, men who in their inmost souls are true and honest, men who
do not fear to call sin by its right name, men whose conscience is as true to
duty as the needle to the pole, men who will stand for the right though the
heavens fall.”
-What is it that buys you or sales you? Is it your:
-Job -friends
-Wife -T.V
-Husband -radio
-Clothes -money
-Are we true and honest in our innermost souls?
-Are we true to duty?
-Are we willing to stand for the right though the heavens fall?
(Example of Hananniah, Azariah, and Mishael)
• Do not love sin
Romans 12:9
“Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.”
-Brothers and sisters let us not love sin. Remember that we are preparing to meet
our God. Sin may appear attractive but it will not do us any good
-Sin will just add to your problems, multiply your misery, subtract your dignity,
divide your respect and square your immorality.

• What time is it?

Romans 13:11-14
13:11 And that, knowing the time, that now [it is] high time to awake out of
sleep: for now [is] our salvation nearer than when we believed.
13:12 the night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the
works of darkness, and let us put on the amour of light.
13:13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness,
not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.
13:14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the
flesh, to [fulfill] the lusts [thereof].

What time is it?
-When we look around us we see this is a time when the world is in revolt,
enveloped in violence, destruction and protest.
What time is it?
-This is a time when men are making taller buildings but have shorter tempers.
What time is it?
-This is a time when we have wider free ways but narrower viewpoints. People
are making more wide roads for them to move in, but their viewpoints of spiritual
matters are narrowed and bigoted by selfishness.
What time is it?
-We see this is a time when we have more degrees but less common sense. More
knowledge but less judgment, more experts but more problems.
What time is it?
-This is a time when we have conquered outer space but not inner space. We have
been to the moon and back but have trouble in crossing the street to give our
neighbor a pamphlet about the truth.
What time is it?
This is a time when the signs of the times are on the increase. Floods, epidemics,
earthquakes, wars and rumors of wars, rape cases, child defilement, strikes, and
marriage divorcements are all on the increase

These tragic signs of the signs tell us unmistakably that we are nearing he climax
of the ages. Time is running out on us. It could be that we are nearer the coming
of Jesus than we even think.

Ours is a wonderful opportunity to witness with our own eyes the fulfillment of
Bible prophecy. I tell you church. This is the period that is destined to witness the
climax of the ages. The course of sin is almost run, for six thousand years the
devil has had his hold on the world. Truth has been dethroned, the earth is littered
with a false hope all found in dreams of peace and security, harmony and
prosperity, progress and happiness, but this hope has turned into a nightmare of
disillusionment (disappointment or lack of expectation).

Brothers and Sisters this is our opportunity to tell them that all things are now
ready for the return of the heavenly King and that the kingdoms of this world are
soon to become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ. What time is it? Let
us tell them that the triumph of this everlasting gospel is near.

Young people-including myself, you have great talent that the church can use in
the proclamation of God’s word. You should bring to the cause of God an alert
mind, and educated life and also a good common sense. You can have all the
education of the world you want to have, but if you don’t have a good godly
common sense to go with it, you simply become an educated fool. I want to
assure you that there is no conflict between education and consecration

3
What a great gain it is for the church to have young people trained academically
and then have such training baptized by the Holy Spirit. I tell you fellow youths; the
church needs you with all your degrees, diplomas, and certificates but when you have
acquired them, do not go round like the peacock, flapping your intellectual wings in
the academic breeze. Wherever you will be, let men and women be inspired by your
compatibility and good service. Use your education for the glory of God what ever it
may be.

Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be:
but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as
he is.

Finally people, I want to remind you that we Reformers are a royal priesthood, a
peculiar people.
We are the People of the Book we love the Bible.
We are the people of Hope; we look for Christ’s return.
We are the people of a Savior we love the Lord.
We are the people of prayer; we talk with God.
We are the people of law and order; we keep God’s Ten Commandments.
We are the people of principle we hold high standards.
We are the people of the Sabbath; we keep holy the seventh day of the week.
We are the people with the testimony of Jesus; we love the spirit of prophecy.
We are the people with a heart we help the needy.
We are the people with a future heaven is our home.
We are the people with a program the globe is our limit.

For we have this hope that burns in our hearts, hope in the coming of the Lord we
have this faith that Christ alone imparts, faith in the promise of His word.

We will raise the banner high, till all the nations far and near, shall shout Hallelujah
Christ is king. For we have this hope that burns in our hearts, hope in the coming of
the Lord – therefore prepare to meet thy God oh Israel.
