Please follow the procedure below to upgrade 79XX/XX IP phones from manufacturin
g load to a phone load supported by CME.
1. Download the phone load files from CCO. The latest load files will be include
d in cme-124-15T.zip file or the cme-basic-4.1.0.0.tar file.
For example, if the system is running CME 4.1, you would use cme-basic-4.1.0.0.t
ar

2. Extract phone load files to your router flash. Copy the cme-basic-x.x.x.x.tar
to a TFTP server,
and enter archive command to extract contents of tar file to router Flash:
Router# archive tar /xtract tftp://ip-address/filename flash:
For example, if you the TFTP server address is 192.168.1.1, you would enter:
archive tar /xtract tftp://192.168.1.1/cme-basic-4.1.0.0.tar flash:
If you download the cme-124-15T.zip file, then the zip file contains individual
tar files for each phone type that you will be using.
3. Share the phone load files by issuing the command 'tftp-server flash:Pxxxxxx'
for each file on the flash.
For CME 4.0, your running configuration will look like this:

4. Specify the load command for each phone type (refer to examples above) - afte
rwards, configure the command "create-cnf" underneath telephony service.
For CME 4.1, your running configuration will look like this:

NOTE: For each load command, it is followed by the phoneload name WITHOUT the "
.load" statement
5. Reset the phones to upgrade to the new phone firmware files.
Please note that the phone may reboot multiple times and can take up to 10 minut
es for each phone to upgrade.
Do not unplug or reset the phones during this process until the phone registers
to CME with a Directory Number displayed.
